Giro d'Italia 2009

They thought that of Andy Schleck too.

I honestly don't think the two are comparable. Andy Schleck came like a rocket from nowhere when he got the 2nd place in 07, while Lövkvist has been looked on as a big talent for quite a few years now but hasn't really shown that he can do well in a three week race. He might just get his breakthrough this year tough.

For the fun of it, I just read some of the comments at this forum from the Giro d'Italia 2007 thread. Everyone thought that Schleck would crack eventually - which is exactly what we're saying about Lövkvist now.

Will be interesting to see what happens.

Interesting to see if Lokvist is exhausted or not after his impressive effort today...
Rogers had a nice comeback
Lance as i thought not a lot of race days in his legs
Levi Menchov Basso will battle for the 1st spot
Di luca will want a podium place
Sadly i cannot see Sastre in top 5 because of the TT .

I have some doubts about some cyclist again but isso will take care of them so worthless destroying isso a nice topic to bash them Smile

if Leipheimer, Menchov and Basso (3 ridersPfft) will battle for the first place then how Di Luca can get a podium place as well?Pfft

He said he is in the same form he was in the 2007 Giro, so he will try to win, but becuase of the time trial he is being a bit realistic

Turns out the distance and time I used weren't the best.
Here's the wattages from official sources:

Menchov and Basso and co. were at 425watts, not 415.

So, it's still cleaner, but not by as much.

That indicates hardly any change from the past two seasons Frown. Though interesting to read that Armstrong did around 375 watts, just slightly (15watts) less than LeMond in his prime.

Yes. And they can time and measure it to perfection, while I was working on "guesstimates". So these are accurate values now Smile

Or rather Sad

These values are not....of "normal" riders.

So Lövkvist is doped.
Dissapointing, also where did you get the stats?

Anyone know about the drug testing policy in mountainbike? Is it as hard as in cycling cause even if i was super happy about how keskiakoff did it just feels hard to believe he did such a stage like today.

It would make sense for Lovqvist to be anti doping while taking them himself. Limits the competition. They say he is a thinker and tactician and i guess that proves it.

Ok so wiggins is at 395 watts, isso is that clean or not. The future of American and British cycling hangs in the balance.

This has been a great race so far. I haven't been able to watch (the important parts at least), as it comes from 9 to 11 at night and I've got school, although I will be able to watch on the weekends.

I really like Levi so far, he deserves to win a Grand Tour at least once in his career, and this could be his best shot.

Lovkvist has ridden great and he looks he might finally be able to do something after so many years of promise.

I can't see Di Luca winning, not with all the TTing. He's a decent TTer, but with Levi and Menchov breathing down his neck I don't think, unless he pulls off something really special in the mountains, that he'll win.

Lastly, I'm thrilled about Lance being dropped. I've been really annoyed by all the people in my local cycling community (especially my boss), saying that he'll come back and be himself and be, well, superhuman (well, that could be the case *wink*). I really want Lance to keep riding the rest of the year, because of what he has done both in the past, and this year for US cycling. That said, I don't want him to do well because he's an asshole and I want to see cycling's next generation step up (Lovkvist winning would be second only to Levi winning in terms of my personal happiness).

Ah well, I'm sure people will pick this apart, but that's my two cents.
