To be honest, I was never that blown away by Sgt. Peppers. Good album and all, but I never realised what it was that made it one of the greatest albums of all time.

Same here, more or less. I enjoy Abbey Road much more, for example. |

I'm a pretty huge Beatles fan but ironically I never listened to any of their albums individually. All I've done is listen to their greatest hits album, play the Beatles Rock Band on PS3, and went to three Paul McCartney concerts.
It's weird cause even though I probably know all the top songs on most of their albums I still very little idea of what is on the ones you guys are naming. |

Personally, there is only one Beatles album that blows me off my socks more than Sgt Peppers and that is, of course, the White Album. Alongside The Doors (debut album), the best album ever in rock music! Maybe also alongside Cheap Thrills |

IT's because it was different at the time. It did something new and revolutionary (I can't stand the Beatles' brand of Pop for the record, so this is not a fanboy comment)
It's normal that when a work (movie, book, album) does something revolutionary and is hailed as genius, it's copied so much by nearly everyone that when later generations experience it they just go "well that's not very good"....because they've seen it done a million times before.
Take Seinfeld. By today's standards it's quaint and slightly unfunny at times. But at the time it was amazingly good. It's just that everything it did well was copied relentlessly
In fact, best example I can come up with of this happening: Alien, the 1979 original

Nah, there is one album from Beatles nobody mentioned yet and that is my top, Magical Mystery Tour...
And from the Doors, i maybe like Waiting for the sun album even more than the first one (but that is also amazing).
And what you say Isso is very true, that is why next generations will dont get it more and more what is so awesome on those old books, movies, bands. If they will not realize that it is the original source where other copied things came from.
I love 1979 Alien btw.

1979 Alien is pure brilliance
Magical Mystery Tour does have "I Am The Walrus", but the White Album is much more... complete. I mean, it's just perfect, compositions etc. |

Good songs, but a bit too short for me. I like longer and more experimental songs. Revolver and Rubber Soul have short songs and are short albums. Both brilliant, though!
By the way, one of their greatest songs, according to me: "Happiness is a Warm Gun". Thank you for this masterpiece, John Lennon. |

I think Magical mystery tour is one of the more boring albums Beatles made. I love The white album. Especially Revolution |

Of all the Beatles albums I might go with "Magical Mystery Tour".
Penny Lane, I am the Walrus and Strawberry Fields are all great songs.

That part of the album (While My Guitar Gently Weeps, Happiness Is a Warm Gun, I'm So Tired, Blackbird, Piggies, Rocky Raccoon) is amazing.

I'm a big Bad Religion fan and what you say is very recognizable to me. Bad Religion is probably one of the most cited bands of influence for modern day punk and hardcore bands.
Once I was at a friend's house, and I showed him a BR album I just bought and I let him listen to one of the songs. He said to me, ''Bad Religion sounds like every other punk band." I said: "No, every other punk band sounds like Bad Religion." |

who needs music if you have soundtracks
personally I hate 99,99999999999% of all vocal songs with Bohemian Rhapsody, Hotel California, Seven Nation Army and Dust in the Wind as exceptions
just give me soundtracks from games and I'm happy
@Daggen
