Loosing weight doesn't mean huge performance rise. Loosing weight gives a calculated rise. It's technically simple maths when related to VO2 and watts. If you were to include efficiency over time (such as a 6 hour race or a tour), then yes, it gets a little more hazeeeee...
But again, I didn't mention LA at any point. We weren't even talking about him, but rather some domestique American cyclist who's signed pro.

And along the lines of Busche, just have to wait and see. Looks like a pretty weird prologue in Mexico. But he finished only 5 sec slower than Mosquerra. |

Mike, one day you should come in Colombia to see how those 'talented' riders train, everyday at around 3000 meters over the sea level, most of them riding since they were kids. So when a Colombian rider "fail miserably" in Europe, specially when they get dropped climbing those huge 1500 meters over the sea level mountains, that doesn't say a bad thing about Colombian cyclits, but that makes you wonder about European ones.

No offence, but if I ever come to Colombia, I'd much rather hang out at the beach with some pretty girls than watching some thin cyclists 
Seriously speaking, I don't doubt that they train much. And putting 'talented' in quotation signs may have been a bit too much - but with that said, it's still remarkable that many South Europeans fail in Europe after having dominated in America. |

No offense taken. It's just it gets quite annoying when a lot of Europeans say things like "South Americans dope a lot when they are amateurs and then they come to Europe and because of our cleaner cyclism and higher average level, they fail", because that is too simplistic and rather naive. I do find it more remarkable that they can barely hold some heavy guys' wheels in a relatively small climb. It would be quite similar if a random Colombian guy gets a medal in a skiing competition.
On the other hand, I don't blame you, it is a lot better to hang out at a nice caribean beach; there are plenty of them around here.
