Isso has been speculating that Riis is out of money. Seems that he's right.
Cancellara has an enormous contract. Freeing that up would mean they would have the budget room for some VERY good signings (except there aren't any left on the market except Bennati and Ciolek).
Riis said today about next year's squad that: "We might not win 2 or 3 classics next year, but now it's time for some of the younger ones to step up"
That doesn't sound like he's counting on Cancellara, does it?
That's my interpretation too -- that Cancellara is leaving.
As you may remember, we've also talked about Monfort being a possible signing for the team -- mainly if Cancellara leaves.
I'm sure I read an article about a week ago in which Dave Brailsford said that he would be interested in Cancellara if he was made available
https://www.cyclin...d-for-2011
in fact - just found it!!
Cancellara is under contract for another season with Bjarne Riis but if he became available for some reason, of course we'd be interested.
Sound like he already knows what's going on? Hmmmm.... |

I don't think so. I think he's just stating the obvious, that everyone would want Cancellara of course.
Sky are very smart about keeping quiet with their signings. They won't announce negotiations out in the open.

Let me quote this from an article which is just two weeks old:
Riis told Sporten.dk that more riders and staff will be named soon. “Things are under control. We are working on it at present and in the near future we will begin to put some more names out there,” he said.
Riis called the massive changes a natural occurrence and said that the team had employees both coming and going. “I am receiving many calls” from people who want to join the team, he said.
Quite funny now when looking at the signings |

I dont see your point Mike. Vinther is obviously a huge signing and a great talent for the future. We are really talking a prospective Ronde winner. I dont see why Riis should pursue other, more well-known riders when he can get Vinther.

It's chicken in a moustache, a sombrero and a bad spanish accent calling.
"Hallo, mai neime eez Miguel. Cane eye join youre team?"
Why is chicken in disguise over the phone? Well, he's quite insane.

Very nice to see, that Förster will continue professional cycling. He is a very sympatic rider without much success in the last 2-3 years.
Hope he can get some results again.

Has anybody heard something about Kim Kirchen´s team for 2011? Andrei Tchmil said he won´t ride for Katusha next year because it´s too dangerous, so i´m sure he´s looking for another team

He has been offered a administrative position on Katusha. He hasn't signed anything yet. But I haven't heard anything about rumours about him riding next year.

Claims Kirchen wants to race next year.
Although I don't see it happening. Most managers probably don't want to risk it. But at some point I'd love to see him riding again. |

I really hope that his wife will say something against. He has twins now. This is more important.
Like the idea of an administrative position within Katusha like Aldag or Zabel at Columbia. He is 33? now. Of course 2-4 years on a high level is possible but not with this kind of "injury". |
