btw talked to a bag of Canadians (Quebec -French-speaking side), they just couldn't understand some French words. What's the craic?? -Are Canadians mostly uneducated?

Nah, your accent is mostly funny (well I haven't heard YOU), it's quite pleasant. What would be difficult to bear with 24/7 would be Quebec's accent (and I don't even mention their odd vocabulary).

My journalistic career continues as I now have my first interesting date (interview) with Bo Belhage - the guy who started the CSC anti-doping programme along with Rasmus Damsgaard. Belhage was also the guy who decided to close the program when they couldn't get access to Armstrong's test results (when the program had been expanded to Astana), and when F. Schleck wasn't fired after the Fuentes payment case.

Anyway - it's just an exercise, and nothing will come out of it, but it will still be quite interesting.

The interview will be about clenbuterol, its 'usefulness' in cycling etc. If you've any ideas for questions (about clenbuterol in cycling - not the Contador case, but in general), feel free to ask them, and I'll see if I can use it.

The world is so very odd....

Most viewed article in chilean paper El Mercúrio's website: Chilean midfielder Matías Fernández scored a couple of goals yesterday in a training session for portuguese team Sporting

At this point I realized I probably seemed last night like some sort of angry, temperamental, creative genius throwing code out the window just because it was buggy.

Allow me to explain.
Until a few weeks ago I'd never seen a moth in my house....well, ever. Then I found one in my room. I got rid of it.

Two nights ago, I saw a couple of moths. Very odd. I was going to try to get rid of them by shooing them out the window....I ended up not trying when I noticed more moths standing on the outside of the window. I wasn't about to open it after that. I put up a couple of anti-moth...thingamagigs.

Last night I saw several. Like 4 or 5. All in my room. So I opened the window and proceeded to start the "Moth Removal Process"....

Step 1: Grab sheet of paper
Step 2: Hold sheet on floor/wall next to moth
Step 3: Wait until moth climbs on sheet
Step 4: Throw sheet out window (I don't live on the ground floor)
Repeat until all moths are out.

Due to reasons that would take too long to explain, the sheets had code printed on them.

So at 3am I was quite literally throwing out the window sheet after sheet of code with bugs. I've become every insane university teacher I've ever had.

(PS: I still have no clue what's attracting the moths. The lights? Can't be. Everyone has lights and this never happened before at any house I lived in.

Whatever it is, this is not good.

Ever heard the expression "like a moth to a flame"? I'm thinking of putting up burning barrels in the yard.

All I'll be missing is the mad max/road warrior mel gibson outfit. Well....that and living in the desert instead of in rolling green hills)

If I leave my bedroom light on and a window open my room is full of moths very quickly once it goes dark. Turning off my light or closing the window works fairly effectively.

I don't know if I'm late or not, but here's what I'd ask about clenbuterol :
- what does it look like ? pills, seryngues, what ?
- how do you take it ? I mean when in the season, do you take doping products at breakfast or outside, how often a day, do you take that daily, or during a short period of time, etc.
- how and where do you get it ? do you need a prescription sheet for that ? is it cheap ?
- if you'd take one normal dose, what would be your blood rate, say after one hour, one day, two days, etc. when would it vanish ? admitting you take it twice a day during one week, how long would it take to vanish ?
- as it's a steroid, say you do one cure, then never take any steroid again (very theoretical, I admit), how long would it take for your body to come back to a normal weigh of muscles, a normal strength ?

It seems ike it's the annual flu time of the year. All my friends got it and obviously I'm the last one to catch it just when I think I'm safe.

It's Autumn, as nights get colder insects and spiders try to come in, I've destroyed several dozens of them lately. I assume that light goes along with heat in their small brains, so yeah, that's where they go, like moths to a fire. Pfft
It also depends where you live, country side or downtown. I got some at my parents, I can't remind getting any whenever I've lived somewhere downtown.

You do know some old superstition considered getting moths at your place was sign of imminent death, don't you ? Pfft

The interview was at 11:30 - but thanks anyway.

I had most of it covered - didn't ask about the prescription sheet, but he did answer it indirectly.

It was quite a difficult interview. It's one which my teacher has to listen to, so it had to follow all the 'rules' of interviewing. For example, when I interview, I can only rely on facts. It's a fact that clenbuterol was used, therefore I can ask about that. But it's not a fact that Contador got it through blood doping, so I had to avoid that.

I'm not allowed to quote from the interview (I told him it was an interview exercise, so if he were to be quoted in a published article, I'd let him know), but I'm not saying too much when I say that he pretty much laughed at me when I asked why only such a small amount was found (considering the fact that 1) it takes quite a long time for the drug to vanish from the body, and 2) Contador was tested every day during the Tour, therefore the amount would necessarily have to be larger if he took a dose during the Tour).

Wanna read something odd ?
Twice this week, I'm not sure whether the first time was yesterday or the day before, and again this morning, I was surprised when I looked at my face in the mirror. There was dried blood on my nose. Not in, or down my nose. ON my nose. Between the eyes, a short line of 1 cm, maybe slightly less, and 1 mm wide, or something, it's an irregular shape of course.

I don't get where it's coming from, it's not there before I go to bed, there's no scar under there after I clean it, nothing stung me, no acne or anything around. It's just a bit itchy now when I touch that part of my nose with my fingers. And why would it start bleeding while I'm sleeping ?
That makes no sense to me, unless there's an evil voodoo mama somewhere ! Shock
I'll take a picture tomorrow if there's some more blood at that peculiar place of my face...

What a weird sensation to enter the bathroom and feel a "WTF is that on my face again ?" moment.

I'm having some problems with my PC. I know there are quite a few computer techies at this site so I thought I should ask for help here as well.

I bought and assembled it part for part about two and a half months ago. First time I've done such a thing. No real problems.

Then about a month ago; a recurring problem began. Suddenly, without warning the screen goes black and the sound from the cabinet changes abruptly from barely noticeable to very very loud.
The PC continues to be in that state until I cut the power. When I turn the power back on everything is normal again. If I turn the power back on within 2-3 min of turning it off the problem typically reappears before Windows is fully turned on. If I wait a while, turn it on and then let it run without accessing any programs it takes about 1-4 hours before it randomly shuts down again.

It eventually shuts down this way regardless of what I do. Although I have noticed that playing a game tends to cut the time before a crash substantially.
Unfortunately the problem seems to appear more and more often. It was not really a "big deal" until about a week ago.

Regarding the noise I believe it’s the GPU-fan and/or the PSU-fan that go insane, but I'm not quite certain.

Specs:
Spoiler
AMD Phenom II X6 T1055
Asus M4A89GTD Pro/USB3
2x2GB Corsair 1600mhz RAM
XFX ATI Radeon 5850
1TB Samsung Spinpoint F3
x22 DVD-RW Drive
Corsair TX750W
Nec MultiSync EA231WMi (1920x1080 LED)
Fractal Design Refine R2
Windows 7 (x64)

I don't know what ‘s causing this. Sad What I do know is that it's not due to the C/GPU overheating.

Aquarius
It's typical from an overheating though.
Have you run programs like HW monitor, or such things to see how temperatures evolve, and what they're like before the crash ?

Last thing that could be overheating massively is your PSU. And it doesn't appear in your specs. Usually the fans are regulated according to the temperature of what they're cooling, so if a fan goes mad before the crash, it means that component is overheating. And it's very logical that it happens again when the computer hasn't been stopped long enough : it hasn't had time to cool down enough.

Deadpool
Definitely hardware (read, not really my cup of tea), but if the area the computer is in is relatively clean, I'd open up the case, run the computer, and see which fan is coping out.

By the way, this is how I deal with all hardware issues, and is called the HAL 9000 method of troubleshooting.

Immortal
Yes, I have been monitoring the heat of the CPU/GPU. That's how I know they are not the ones overheating.

I suspected the PSU to, but I don't know how to monitor the heat of it. It's a Corsair TX 750W. I am aware that my cabinet is a bit mediocre when it comes to cooling.

Oh, some more blood on my nose. During the day time this time, marvellous. Looks like it's very little buttons or something that have been bleeding (a few drops) and the blood dried. Then again I didn't scratch there, and I didn't feel it bleeding.
Oh well...

Even more funny, or weird, I've been walking around my new home, 200 km further from where I was living previously. Walked like 30 minutes or something. Not less than two people asked me their way.
First one on a MTB :
- "excuse me sir, what's the way to downtown Bruz ?
- the church's bell tower is right there (showing with the hand), so you go that w...
- yeah, well, ok, I can see where I am, thank you very much (leaves)
- ..."
He reacted as if I had been patronizing him and boring him explaining him the way. Why ask instead of opening his own eyes ?

Second one : much worst.
Downtown, a brand new 308 with a guy in a suit in it stops and opens his window.
" - Hey you ! What's the way to Pont Pean ?
- Pont Péan you say ? Erm...
- No ! Pont Péan !
- What I said, Pont Péan, it's th...
- Ok, enough, quit it."
And he rushes away with his car. I'm not sure he pronounced it right or that I got it right, but that's the only thing close to a town's name that I could think of. Obviously he felt very annoyed and thought his suit gave him any right. Rolling Eyes
Sometimes I get troubles understanding people's local accent. It's not really an accent, it's more they don't bother pronouncing correctly, which we all do, but I'm not used to local places, so I miss a part of the information...

Next time I won't dress as poorly, maybe that'll prevent me from looking like a traffic sign.

Did anyone hear about the massive strikes in this country ?

A soon as there's something wrong, or, say, unpleasant, people start a strike, demonstrations, etc.
This time it's because of a reform about retirement ages, wages for retired people, etc.

Retirement age used to be 65 until 1981, when they set it at 60. Now we keep on living older and older, our system is totally indebted, and it'll only get worst, as people keep ageing, and we'll get an always bigger ratio of retired ones per workers.

Why do people demonstrate ? "Fairness for all, don't touch the 60 years limit", "don't lower my retirement wage", and "don't tax me more to pay wages, tax firms instead". Classic stuff...

A triple fucking facepalm wouldn't have enough hands to express how I feel. Not that everything is fine with the current reform, far from that, but people I've seen demonstrating are absolutely ludicrous for most of them.

Now, we can't find gas anywhere, truck drivers are at strike, when it's not refineries or whoever else...
Depressing it is.

Last time I was in France they striked and I had big problems to reach my train back home. I wanted to get a cab but the whole city was blocked with cars as there was no Metro this day. ;(

Bad tongues say it was because of the Rugby World Cup as France lost and England was in the final. So lots of England fans couldn`t get to the game Wink

Don't worry, Aqua, France is getting another batch of bad press here Pfft

Can't say I'm surprised. They strike more than they work Pfft
