Nah, I do road races as they present themselves. Most of the pictures I have are from crits though, as road races might have 1 or 2 photo ops, where crits will have 20-30. I've done 4 crits, 2 road races this year.
In general though, Crits are everywhere, and are less of a logistical nightmare, than road races, so yes, there are a lot of crits in the US

Got some proper training in today for tough rides coming up - rode out to the start of the club tt (5 miles) then did a hilly 13 mile in 37 mins then rode back (another 5 miles) got a biscuit, filled my bottle and did 20 miles with emphasis on the hills. So over 40 miles (I know that's not far but read the next bit) absolutely flat out with little recovery. Still I'm finding it hard to wear clothes though now

Doing a polite and easy thirty-five miler today. Why? well because tomorrow I'm doing eighty with some serious climbing.

Rode in some strong winds yesterday. On the headwind section barely reaching 25km/h at times, despite doing a reasonable effort, and on the sidewind part litteraly hanging in the wind.
It's a good training though, making up for the lack of hills we have around here
Another story; got a job since two weeks at THE cycling shop around here. Even French people comes here sometimes (and with me being one of the few employees speaking French, I get to help those all the time...)
But I quite like seeing loads of fancy expensive stuff, while making money
I dont get though, why they allow small children in the shop. Today, some five year old kid grabbed a Campagnolo Bora Ultra Two wheel (€1950 for the set), and then dropped it... The shop manager could've hit that kid if it wherent for his mother standing next to him At least the wheel didnt get too badly damaged. |

Did this a couple days ago, just backwards to the direction I mapped it. Just under 4 hours. Ouch. We were aiming for 3:45 ish, but I am slow, so no dice.
https://www.mapmyride.com/route/us/ca/...3650219776
The day before that ride I did a 50 mile group ride, were I was second by a wheel length to the top of my favorite climb in the area. I'm getting a lot better at climbing it seems.
https://www.mapmyride.com/route/us/ca/...3712941066
And the day before that I did a short race-ride. there is a video of one of the sprints, though you can't see the sprint. as the vid starts my teammate is far left, and I am just in front of him on the white bike in green and red. I got boxed in on the right (from 1:38 onwards) during the sprint and the vid spends the last 50 or so seconds looking at my ass. As you can see there are a lot of guys from 1 team, and a few from mine, plus a few miscelaneous. A couple cat 2's, a few cat 3's and a bunch of 4's. It gets pretty competative. for the final sprint I ended up on the front with 500 to go, looked back, saw my teammate, and drilled it, though a couple cat 2's got it ahead of him.
https://www.vimeo.com/10640404
The weather is in general fantastic around here, though it was pretty snotty for a few days there. We got some snow on Geysers and Pine Flat, the two main climbs in the first two links.
Racing starts back up after 2 weeks off on tuesday when a local series of crits starts. after that a crit and road race next weekend, then the season seriously starts.

I've worked in a small bike store for just over two years. It's a weird situation, because it's in one of the most affluent areas of the US, but we aren't a high end shop (we have a few Madones and high end mountain bikes, but not much). Still, despite dealing with asshole customers and spending 8 hours selling $350 hybrids, it's a fun job. |

Ive always wanted to open a bike shop or atleast work in one when I finish school. Do you get discounts on the bikes in your store?

That is a big frame.
What is the wheelset? It looks kind of like a DT Swiss rim laced up to an unknown hub, but I can't be sure.

Wheelset is just my crappy training, Bongtrager Race in front, and had to bust out the even crappier Alexrim as of right now for the rear because a car ran me off the road the other day and toasted my rear Bont. Race. |

It's lookin like I'm finally going to get a TT bike. Jamis Xenith T-2. It's one of the Colavita womens 2009 frames, built with the dura-ace off my Specialized. I just need to track down a crank/bar end shifters/brake levers and I'm good to go.

Very good choice. My dad has got the same one (only the 2009 model). I guess it's with Ultegra huh? It'll be just fine. I'm sure you'll like it I know my dad does.
Just watch out with the click pedals. First time you ride with it, you need to really pay attention to un-click in time at traffic ligth for instance
For me... I crashed yesterday. Luckly at low speed, so I only have small wound on my leg from going over the asphalt for c. 1 meter. Doesnt hurt really, but it's irritating when I walk...
Was pretty stupid crash. Was riding next to/behind my dad; my front wheel next to his rear wheel. Then at a junction, I thought we'd be going straight on, while my dad decided to go left. So I couldnt avoid his read wheel taking my front wheel to the left and there I went...
Oh well, at least its not as bad as Richards crashes And my carbon frame remains undamaged |

Yea, it matched perfectly for me. Good price and it looked nice . It isn't with Ultegra though, it's with 105. You can view it here:

I've heard some stories from my uncle and cousin about the click pedals, that's why i'm gonna practise on some roads where there isn't any traffic, just to be save.
My uncle crashed at a traffic light last year, although he has experience with it. He was waiting at a traffic light and the car that was next to him moved forward and he clicked in, but then the car suddenly stopped again and it was to late to get out, he just fell over . No harm though only a little bruise on his leg.

Hey, I've got a 100% alive record atm, 2 rides, 2 times I'm still here! Hurts my elbow like fuck knows, but hey, no pain, no gain?
Yeah, be careful of the overlapping wheels. All my previous crashes in races have been due to an overlap and then someone moving sideways. Nasty times.
Another minor fear of mine - my Pro Lite is being built up atm. It'll be worth £3,000 when built, and I've spent £2,000 on it (good ol' discounts), but what if I crash it!?! That's a whole lotta carbon to go bust.
Also, I want to sell my shitty single speed death trap bike. Anyone want a boardman SS? I'll do you a good deal?

Oh, the my dad's would be the 2.5. Confused them, since last year, they where part of the 1. series. It's the same bike still though. Just different paint scheme. No problems on the Shimano 105 though. That's what I've got as well Still, I wouldnt mind to see it replace by Dura-Ace DI2 XD ('only' 2k ) |
