True. But he has shown that he can't keep up with the best in the mountains. |

It's too bad Kessiakoff didn't have his best day today. Top 5 still in range though.
Impressive ride by Cobo. He could actually win this Vuelta.

FUGLSANG AHEAD OF NIBALI AND RODRIGUEZ ON THIS MOUNTAINSTAGE this is like a dream still number 5 overall! Fantastic!

The guy lost time in every single mountain stage. A top 5 should be his goal at this point.
And I think it's Wiggins vs. Mollema at this point. I don't think Cobo actually has a shot at winning the Vuelta. Yes, he won time today, but it's not like any of the big guns tried to follow him. Maybe they couldn't, but still.

I never said he is gonna win it
He himself has said that he wont be able to challenge the best climbers. All I was saying is, that despite lacking some climbing abillities Fuglsang is still within the minute. Same as Froome etc.
And yes, its gonna be a fight between Mollema and Wiggins. But I dearly hope that Mollema will have the better ending in this fight... And the Cobo issue: Im not sure that he will be up there but I am up for a suprise...

Great stage. Good to see Menchov still hanging there, plus Cobo getting on the contenders wagon. I've seen Duarte has lost like an hour these last couple of stages, maybe waiting for something tomorrow??

After today's stage it's 100% sure, that it will be a very unusual podium in Madrid. |

And who could have followed him? Only Mollema possibly could done it, but when Cobo attacked there was still like 20 guys in group and nobody could do anything about it. |

I think Wiggokourov and Froomechkin could.

All that they could do was continue their TTT up to mountain. Neither Wiggins or Froome can actually respond to attack (by respond I mean accelerate), they can only hold their tempo (which happens to be extremely high). |

Today yes. Tomorrow is different. We will see. Cobo and Froome lost time before in the mountains. Besides tomorrow is one of the hardest climbs in the world. A climb which doesn't seem to suit Wiggo and Froome much.
I hope Poels can surprise tomorrow.

Yeah, but they didn't seem bothered at all. When others have attack before, they have the Sky duo immediately on their wheels, or at least you did see them working hard to close the gap. This time they kept riding tempo. I think they could have followed Cobo. I may be wrong, but that's my feeling after watching how they acted.

It ain't over 'till it's over. There's still a week of racing ahead, anything can happen.
If offense is the best defence, does it mean that defence is the worst defence?

Not necessarily. Different day, and completely different climb.
The GC will be pretty much sealed, though.

There I go on the sea instead of watching the stage today and then such a big stage. ;(
Nibali, Scarponi, Anton all not in their best form obviously, so a pretty surprising top 5 so far. |
