5 stage wins in Turkey for Greipel. Watch out for this man at the Giro. Impressive sprint, again.
Might've won 6 of 8 stages if it wasn't for the crash yesterday

I'll just laugh
It's just funny
It's going to be a lot funnier if Greipel goes to the Giro and beats Petacchi for speed, which no matter what SN likes to say, Cavendish didn't do last year.
It's like the Hagen situation. I don't like Greipel or hate Hagen at all. It's just funny to see people's minds short-circuiting when their bias clashes with reality

Well, of course the sprinters at the Giro will be much stronger but nevertheless i think Greipel can beat a Bennati, Petachi and other sprinters there as well. Maybe not that easily and not every mass sprint but i am quite sure that he`ll get at least 2-3 victories there. |

How about actually explaining how any of his Turkish wins were impressive? Rather than just trying to laugh it off.

Take today's win. He lead out from the front, yet no one could make any impression on him. He only lost ground when he stopped pedalling to celebrate

The fact that he won shouldnt be enough for Greipel, when he is head and shoulders above the other sprinters in the field. He held them off, but he hardly pulled away from them.

He did pull away. And since he led out from so far away, you'd expect him to fade badly in the end. He didn't.
Either way, you're the one disputing me, so the onus is on you to somehow prove.....whatever it is you're trying to prove

My contention is the fact that 5 'impressive' Turkey wins means anything in terms of the Giro.
Beyond Greipel, the Turkish sprint field was weak.

Greipel 2010: 11 victories
Cavendish 2010: 1 victory
Now, who's the better sprinter in 2010 |

Chicchi, Modolo, Furlan, Van Hummel, Gatto, Gavazzi.
Weak?

Greipel's big tests to establish himself as a major sprinter, rather than one largely succesful in the smaller races, are still to come. Theres the Giro coming up, and then 2011 - where hopefully he will be at a different team, so there is a possibility for Greipel and Cavendish to go head to head.

4 stage wins and points jersey at the Vuelta ring a bell?

Tell me, how many Grand Tour stages have they won?
I believe the answer is 2, and those were both Furlan's, and both back in 2002.
So yes, weak.

You already know my thoughts on them, and why I therefore think the upcoming Giro will be a more accurate test.
