Footballers are not overpaid really - simple economics tells us if they were overpaid, then no clubs would survive as they would go into debt.

I remember a year ago at Paris-Nice the commentators reeled off a list of the best paid 20 or so riders. I wish I had that list now. I remember very little of it.
What I do remember:
- Valverde no.1 at 2.7 million
- Cunego 2nd at 2.5 million
- random third guy at 1.9 million (I believe it's Petacchi)
- Boonen and Bettini surprisingly low. 1.7 and 1.5 respectively.
- Basso 1.5
- a bucketload of people between 2 and 1.2. Can't remember any of them.

"I love him, I think he's great. He's transformed the sport in so many ways. Every person in cycling has benefitted from Lance Armstrong, perhaps not financially but in some sense" - Bradley Wiggins on Lance Armstrong

Actually, that's not far off footballers. Valverde earning about £39,000 per week.
So cyclists aren't doing so bad after all

Obviously not, as you can't charge spectators to watch

The method for forcing people to pay to watch would be so costly, nobody would bother. You'd have to erect giant barriers around 100 - 200 km of road so nobdy could get in and watch

what a great football day
1. Fulham win! Finally! Now we have a chance, with games against Newcastle, Derby, Sinderland, and Reading coming up.
2. Bolton loose to 10 men Wigan. Bolton ar the team Fulham have the greatest
chance of catching with their upcomong fixtures.
3. Mexico's olympic qualifying fiasco. They went in to today thinking they just needed to beat Hati to advance to play US for olympic berth. Then Guatemala roles over for Canada, and Mexico would need 6 goals to move on. Paybacks a bitch!

Think Martin Taylor on Eduardo - just without the leg pointing at the wrong angle - it should have been red

Definately should've been red, only reason it wasn't was that he didn't injure Hutton.

Bolton might not go down, obviously Derby will go down and probably Fulham, then I hope Sunderland go down, although Keane is a really good manager.
------
Manchester City are interested in Barcelona starlet Giovani Dos Santos and could make a bid in the summer, according to the player's father
and Arsenal are rumoured to be wanting to sign Christian Zapata, that would be awesome for them
