Mark Cavendish won stage 1 of the Tour of Ireland today from Dublin - Waterford
tomorrow is Thurles-Longhrea
Tour of Ireland is a fantastic race and if you're in the UK is on everynight at 7pm on ITV4. Watch it!
What! Bäckstedt finished in the main bunch on that stage. Whohoo, Bäckstedt will win Tour de France next year!

given that all remaining stages are flat (bar one that's mildly flat) and that Holm said they'll try to control the race, I'm expecting a bunch sprint every day.
well it's no tour of britain really, some of the stages we could see a severly depleted bunch or some proper attacks.

If only the tour of Ireland were half as good as the tour of Britain...

I was joking about none of the races being particularly important

On the fourth stage they are going over the highest mountain pass in the Ireland, the Conor Pass. I doubt Cavendish can finish that one with the better climbers.

yeah, and also columbia have taken him out of the tour of britian.
Tour of Missouri is on at the same time and while columbia will be still riding the TOB, missouri is a more important race and so cavendish will be there instead. Kirchen will take his place.
CRAP!!!

from looking around columbia's made alot of Brit's angry. Send Kirchen to the Missouri. Let cavendish ride his home tour, it's a race he loves.

Cos they're very pissed at each other after the Madison event in Beijing, and it seems unlikely Columbia will have them in the same roster again (Wiggins is now rumoured to be already looking for a new team next season, Cevelo for example). |

Wiggin's is riding.
I'm not sure about this rumored fall out, really if BC wanted the medal surely it would be wise to partner him with someone other than wiggins. Wiggins had a busy olympics.
