Cunego's haematocrit is through the roof. If there's a stage where he'll do well it's in the low oxygen of the Bonette.
This is THE stage I've been waiting for. Literally anything can happen. It might be the best stage ever or the most boring.

I'm not saying he'll do well, I'm saying that he has the best chance here.
But of course everyone will say it's the crashes and keep considering him a fabulous climber somehow.
It's just one of those things people are blind to and refuse to acknowledge. Like Burghardt being a decent climber.
EDIT: I've been tipping Menchov the whole way, I see no reason to change it now. Menchov for the Tour. Valverde for the stage.

That might be good Tour for Rabobank this year. After the fiasco last year, they win the green jersey and maybe even the yellow. |

If that actually means something, then I'm sorry for Evan Paul Oliphant

Agreed. Lets get one thing straight, Cunego is a good hilly classics rider - but not a grand tour rider. Period. If only he would stop insisting that he is! |

I still go with Ewans..because people are loosing faith to support him...and just for to be anoying for Ruben.
He looked quite pale two days ago..If he get normal look back..he is still man to beat.
Still some prediction CSC guys will be cause lot of trouble today and tomorrow. Mostly Sastre

Exactly. Another rider in denial! At least Valverde can climb occasionally with the best in the mountains! While we're on the subject - heres another rider who should not be classified as a GT rider: Kim Kirchen. To be fair, he can do a decent enough climb, and its really his team who have said he's a GT leader, not him. |

Yep I'm with Guido on that. Evans is still massive favourite the way I see it. CSC might be the best in the mountains, but Evans has shown that he can limit his time loss very well, and because of the time trial, Sastre and Schleck, will need AT LEAST 2 minutes on Evans in the GC (Schleck even more) to win the race. Even compared to Menchov, Evans looks strong as I consider him the better time trialist of the two.
I sincerely and deeply hope that CSC will crack Evans today or tomorrow, but I have never seen Evans crack so it seems unlikely. But a lot of things can happen. CSC are experts in splitting the pack in cross-winds and that might happen after the Alps if they don't have gap needed on Evans and Menchov. Anyway the fact that CSC's captains are the poorest TTists among the favourites is going to provide us with a lot of action today and tomorrow, because they simply have to attack if they want to win the Tour. Today CSC should attact early on Bonette-Restefond. I don't think they will do much more on Lombarde than setting the pace so that the heaviest guys drops off.

isso and me has been saying that for quite a while. Finally people are beginning to get enlighted
In all fairness though I think isso was earlier out than me stating this

Don't forget Vande Velde. If he can keep up with Evans and Menchov, the overall win can very well become his. He's a very good TT'er and may be even better than Evans.
But in general, this is just one amazingly close Tour - and very, very exciting one too. |

I think they did originally hope for top 10, but after he got the jersey, combined with his improved TT'ing, they started making noises about top 5 and perhaps podium. No chance. |
