General Career Discussion

Sorry for asking here but I want to start a new career and I don't really like the stats from the PCM.daily's 2013 DB | All in One.Is there any place where I can find accurate 2013 riders stats ? Thanks.

Just did the Tour Down Under with Astana, these are the results:

Stage 1: 1. F. Gavazzi
Stage 2: 1. E. Gasparotto
Stage 3: 1. E. Gasparotto
Stage 4: 1. A. Guardini
Stage 5: 1. E. Gasparotto
Stage 6: 1. A. Guardini

Gasparotto takes all the jerseys and Astana wins the team classification. Epic start of the season, mainly happy about finally being successful with a sprint train. Gavazzi third in the GC is nice too, considering all the work he's done for Gasparotto and Guardini. Good old Jens Voigt (RadioShack) completes the GC podium in second place.

I believe i had Dan Martin win stages 2, 3, 4, 5 and get a 2nd behind team-mate Gerraint Thomas on stage 6.

I really hate some editions of Paris-Nice. On the hilly parcours, you can attack all you want, but at the end of the day it's just another group sprint. Still got lucky with a very good prologue by Fuglsang (+5 form) and him ending third, but having Casar win the race before Gallopin and Martens & Moser at 4 & 5 is plain boring. Good thing that in the Tirreno Nibali is kicking some serious ass though with most of his TdF team in support... Smile

I'm all with you on Paris - Nice. But it's the same with Tirreno - Adriatico. Some editions are really kinda plain and boring. They are considered hilly but there is never an time gaps and you can never get away. In the end everything gets decided on some individual TT performance. It's just oddly weird.

I'd really love to see a story with Astana from you one of these days, mate. Wink

Most likely not gonna happen with my busy career and upcoming fatherhood getting in the way Wink

Anyway, managed to finish Tirreno-Adriatico yesterday evening. Nibali solidly took the first two hilly stages, while the other two were won by Greipel in mass sprints. In the stage to L'Aquila, Nibali lost some time to Nocentini and Valverde though, because the finale is a total mess with small circuits and dropped riders all over the place. Still managed to keep the lead, which is the most important thing.
The nicest stage had 10 categorized climbs and Saxo Bank decided to start riding pretty early on, but according to mr. Grivko, they were not fast enough. So Grivko led the peloton for 100 km(!), reducing the peloton from roughly 150 riders to 35. Eventually, Kangert took over, paving the way for Nibali's attack in the descent to the final climb. On the sterrato of that final climb, Nibali got passed by an attack of Daniel Martin, but could catch up to him in the downhill. Looking good, if only Nocentini wasn't there sticking to Nibali's wheel and taking the victory in the sprint. With just a time trial to go (won by Porte), this was enough to take the GC though.

Final GC:
1. Nibali
2. Nocentini
3. Valverde

Next up: Milano-Sanremo, where Astana hopes to win with Nibali, Gasparotto or Gavazzi. Or maybe even Grivko? Wink

Gonna start a career pretty soon with a strong French squad.

Been editing for ages.

So, my dear laptop decided to die in a freak accident and needed to be replaced. Bad news for my bank account and my Astana career: I guess me writing nice stories here is just not meant to be and I'm not going to try it anymore. Fortunately, I still had an external copy of my PCM database, so at least I can play normally again.

Got back to Katusha, which is a very nice, allround team to play with. Started with winning three stages (Kolobnev, Paolini, Kristoff) in the Tour Down Under, where Ulissi was superior at Willunga Hill and won the race ahead of Kolobnev and Nocentini. Then some smaller races with a strong Rodriguez (six wins), who consequently took two stages and the final GC in Tirreno-Adriatico. Amazing podium there with Porte second and Valverde third. In Paris-Nice, Spilak was our captain and he ended fifth, while also taking a stage win. The GC was won by an amazingly strong Kiryienka, followed by LL Sanchez and Gilbert.

In Milano-Sanremo, the idea was to ride for Paolini, but Rodriguez couldn't help himself and attacked on the Poggio. Langeveld joined him, but couldn't keep up with Purito's pace, while the peloton was slowly losing ground as well. Flecha still decided to counter-attack in the descent, but couldn't close the gap anymore, so victory was ours! Behind Flecha, Sagan won the sprint for the last podium place. In the E3 Prijs, it was finally Paolini's turn, especially since Kristoff crashed at a bad moment and lost contact with the favourites. Paolini had a hard team keeping up with virtually no help from his team mates, but still managed to get into the final 10 km with a small group of favourites. Chavanel made a late attack and took a well-deserved victory, while Paolini sprinted to third place in the slipstream of Boonen. Quite a nice result, despite of the OPQS dominance (Terpstra got 4th).

Currently, Katusha is busy winning the Volta a Catalunya. Dani Moreno took two mountain stages and with one flat stage to go, his victory looks secured. The battle for second place is still interesting though, with Costa, Kreuziger and Betancur all 20 seconds behind the leader. Unlucky loser was Luis Leon Sanchez, who crashed out of the race in the leader's jersey...

Catalunya is in the pocket and Paolini managed to outsprint Boonen for the win in a very nice edition of Gent-Wevelgem. Also found an amazing talent, think of his potential as Edvald Boasson Hagen with the speed of Cavendish...

Seriously considering moving up to playing on extreme after this season, by the way. How big is the difference with playing on hard?

Shonak
I'm not sure on PCM 2012, but I did some extreme playing on PCM 2013 recently and the largest difference is arguably in the name. Grin

Guess I'll just give it a shot directly... so prepare for weaker results Wink

Now I'm 100% sure: Paolini just ended second in the Ronde van Vlaanderen, after beating Boonen and Pozzato in the sprint behind winner Cancellara...

Noob at sponsor negotations. I only have 1 sponsor of national reputation in czech so better not mess up.

Sponsor says gives about 1.1M but agent says he can pull to 1.5 but its wierd, i open and close negotiation window and he gives me a different opinion everytime.

My team is Sports Praha, im in continental pro, mid season im third in continental ranking and maybe can get the top 2 for cya teams, very close. My top rider is without a doubt the best in continental ranking.

I have budget of 240k and wages of 372k current year. Need better budget though.
Can i have those 1.1M and 2 seasons?

Im at max confidence sport with my current and july is very close.

This new national sponsor doesnt co-sponsor.

Suggestions?

Did a major database update (finally switched to the Daily post-TdF update and tweaked a lot of stuff). Started a career with RadioShack on extreme, which is quite challenging. So far, Tony Gallopin is the star of the team with a stage win and second in the GC of Tour Down Under, followed by two stage wins and a fourth place in Paris-Nice. In Tirreno-Adriatico, Andy Schleck ended up fourth and RadioShack won the team time trial, as well as the individual time trial (Cancellara). Now heading towards the classics with high hopes for Cancellara, while Horner is supposed to shine in the Spanish stage races. Catalunya has a sucky parcours though...

Blueprint
Still managed to get 4th in Catalunya with Horner, while Bakelants took a stage win from a breakaway. Not unhappy about that.

In the classics, life is much harder though. Cancellara's attack on the Poggio wasn't strong enough in Milan-Sanremo, so a small peloton caught up with him and he ended 8th (Sagan won). Then in the E3 Prijs, Van Avermaet won with a daring attack from 40 km, followed by Vanmarcke and Cancellara. No success in Gent-Wevelgem either: couldn't avoid a group sprint and due to several failed attempts to attack, Cancellara wasn't able to get a top-10 result anymore. Ronde van Vlaanderen was better though. Cancellara and Boonen battled it out together and Boonen won the sprint, but I'm satisfied with the race. Hopefully, Cancellara will be able to beat Boonen in Roubaix, but first I'll be trying to get a podium result in Pais Vasco with Horner.

Blueprint
Well, Cancellara did beat Boonen in Roubaix, but still got outsprinted by an amazingly strong Vanmarcke, so another second place was achieved. However, podium hunting in Pais Vasco failed miserably with Horner only ending 11th. The hilly classics were "interesting" too: Horner got 12th in Amstel Gold Race, 3rd in Fleche Wallonne and 22nd in Liege-Bastogne-Liege (winners were Scarponi, D. Martin & Valverde). All this was followed by a 10th place in Romandie and an 11th place in the Giro for Kiserlovski. Kinda hoping for a decent win again, hasn't happened since Bakelants' Catalunya stage...

Yes, 2013. I quit, back to Katusha, much more fun.
