I can't be convinced of anything this early. I do know however that people who start their season by destroying everyone as early as february usually don't shine in april.
It's not a certainty ofcourse, but it's definately a well known pattern
I don't know. That was true 5-10 years ago. Nowadays, see Sky, a rider can dominate the whole field from February/March to late July. Of course it's in stage races, but the same could happen for classics.
I've read French former riders and coach disputing the existence of form peaks, at least of spectacular ones (Ã la Ullrich), showing Sky as an example of everlasting form.
It could be (I'm just guessing and it's not even my opinion) that Kwiatowski is just stronger. |

I'm not saying he'll be weak.
And I do agree we see a whole better base level over the year.
But you can clearly still see peaking of riders during the season. Froome last year was a LOT stronger in the TDF than in other races.
In other races he'd just barely win / late escape win / or even lose early in the season.
In the Tour he just went with 6/7km to go and destroyed it. Clearly a sign of superior form |

Strade should be WT
Was one of the most exciting races I've seen in a long time. Great racing.
I agree that the race deserves to be WT over a lot of other races. But does it really need to be? People love the race, a lot of great cyclists compete and we get some great racing regardless.
I also wonder if the race would've been different today if they had race radios like they would if it was a WT race.
With that said though, I think the entire world tour needs an overhaul to make the overall standings and the competition for it more interesting than it has been. Including Strade Bianche in such a plan is something I'd love to see. |

Not sure of lineups but Colbrelli or Finetto will be close to a win here.

Yes Paolini and beard have looked quite sharp so far and Roma Maxima sadly is the only race that Pozzato seems to do well in these days. |

I knew Joeaar was decently talented but I didn't expect that. It is a really odd profile for a prologue.
late celebration.
Gert has been realy good this year. he can be real power house light version of Tony Martin...same time Taaramäe is totaly lost again. i. am giving up...2012 spring was last time when we had last real Taaramäe.
Thank good we have still Kangert (despite Astana) who always delivers. |

Strade Bianche really needs to be moved up from a .1 race, I don't know if there's some sort of issue that is keeping it as a .1 but it's one of the best classics of the year imo
EDIT: What Ruben said
It isn't about just making it WT straight away. The race organisers would have to agree that they want to do it and if they do there are a lot of other responsibilities and costs in terms of media (I believe it is media at least, certainly there are other costs). So it is possible that they are happy keeping it this way. It allows them a lot more flexibility in choosing teams to participate (the same reason ToCalifornia is still HC).

The start and the finish. Probably about half way up the Via Dei Fori Imperiali, though unfortunately there isn't any sort of convenient place to sit or stand around there.

It was a great Strade Bianche

I don't want to call Sagan stupid, but....yeah, attacking Kwiatkowski on a climb like that was extremely stupid.
That would be a deserved call, really stupid, because hanging behind Kwiatek was all that Sagan needed to get that win. Anyway what a monster attack from Kwiatek, there was no juice left in Sagan.
Nice 5th for Kreuziger, he can have a good chance at Tirreno.

It wasn't the smartest race by Sagan, but a beautiful one to watch.
I hope he's on the level, though.
Only 1 victory so far... Where is Sagan and what has he done to him? |

It's funny that this race is the same category as Strade Bianche.
Tour de Taiwan, Stage 1: Taipei City, circuit race (52 km) (2.1)

I saw the race while it was still neutralised over the first bit of appia antica. Now I'm following the last 7km of road directions back to the city centre. Don't expect the cobbles to make a huge difference, they are as smooth around here as most Italian roads. Lots of weekend cyclists coming through without any trouble.
