I'm still in the hospital, so no time for more information just yet. I'll get back to you all when I get Becca and the twins back home!

I was afraid from the title about injury.
I like the abandon at the end of the day. Rainbow children? Will they be named Red and Blue?

I have already posted an article explaining why you didn't see me in Oman on the final stage. But now I'm finally home. And being home, I can present you to two new members of our family: Thibault Vergnaud and Alice Vergnaud. Boy and girl. I have chosen Warren as godfather to both of them. After all he's my best friend!
I'm very happy to have twins, a boy and a girl, it doesn't get much better than that.
Now it's about time I get back to work. In about two weeks, I'll be starting in Paris - Nice. Dropping out of Oman was against my cycling instincts, so I'll be twice as keen on a victory there!
I have to go now, Becca is still having some pains and is not recuperating so well from giving birth. I'm taking her to the hospital.
I'll be seeing you all later!

You're probably wondering where I've been. It's April and still my last race was the Tour of Oman. MAybe you've heard rumours in the press, but I want you to hear the truth from me. It's taken me a long time to come here and share this with you, mostly because she didn't want me at first.
Months ago, my last update on this blog, I think I mentioned going to the hospital? Well, that particular hospital visit turned bitter for all of us here.
No point beating around the bush here. Becca has been diagnosed with a disease I'm willing to call evil. I guess you all know what I'm talking about here. It's hard for me to say it out loud or even to write it.
And it has been growing aggressively fast, spreading everywhere. She has been diagnosed as terminal. They're giving her 1 year. Max.
I have not been cycling because I was taking care of her and the kids. I have not regretted this for a second.
However, hospital bills are starting to show. We both decided I should get back on the road. But I won't just go anywhere.
For now, I'll start training again. Obviously no training camp or whatever, I'll be training at home, in the area. The current plan is to return to the road for the National Championships.
I guess I'll see you then.
Henry

Once again I apologize for the long silence. As you undoubtfully know, the Tour de France starts in two days. I have just returned to the cycling world on the National Road Race. It felt sort of good to be back.
I don't like to talk about it, but Becca's not doing too well. However, she insists I go to the Tour de France and win it for her. She wants nothing more than for me to make my dreams come true. Only she doesn't realize my biggest dream is with her and the kids.
Anyway, so I'm back.
National Championships - French Road Race Classified as flat, but that final steep climb will be a battle ground, for sure.
I must thank my fellow cyclists. They have made my return so easy. I got support from all around the peloton and everyone was very friendly.
They were so friendly I almost felt bad leaving them all behind on the final climb. But this is cycling, this is our job. I didn't seem to miss the competitive rhythm and flashed away.
I had quite a gap. I could only hope it was enough to keep at least 1 cm until the finish line. The sprinter teams were starting to regroup behind me.
But the technical downhill saved my butt today. Another National Title. Passing the line, I didn't celebrate, though. Just doesn't feel right, give the circumstances.

It's good to see my legs have not suffered from months of racing. With the Tour starting very soon, I think I can put up a decent enough fight to battle for the Maillot Jaune once again.
But now I'll return home for the remaining days to the start. I don't want to leave Becca alone too long.
Henry

Wow, this really took a turn for the worst. I wish Henry the best of luck.
Will be interesting to see how he does in the Tour with the lack of form and the dealing with Becca's situation.

Terrible news about Becca. It'd be easier to deal with just a disease, one that may be treatable and cureable, but this one sounds like a certain death sentence. Henry should care for, be there for her for the time they have left together. No matter on what Becca is saying or on what she insists. She and the kids need him more than all the cycling fans. Let them wait, Henry. Who cares about le Tour anyway.
But in any case, it's good to see that he still has it what it takes to win. And maybe triumphing in the races will help him cope with the misery in his life better.
