Ian Butler - With the cobbles of Lincoln being so renowned and hard, just to finish will be an achievement |

LINCOLN GRAND PRIX
Lincoln – Lincoln – 162km
Four riders have got a massive advantage of six minutes and thirty four seconds, they are Rossi/Rapha Condor Sharp, Kiendys/CCC Polsat, Schadlich//Team NSP Ghost and Kosyakov/Itera Katusha
Our lead riders are battling on despite the horrible conditions, 5m 49s was the latest time check we had and that is back to a depleted peleton that only consists of thirty six riders
Its An Post Sean Kelly that have come to the front of the peleton and started laying down a decent pace in hope of closing the gap to our four leaders up the road
I have managed to make it across to the leaders with three other riders, unfortunately they are all from An Post and they are Mould, McNally and Vanbilsen
The pack grew to thirty three riders at one time but now a small group of ten are trying to open up an advantage as we pass under the twenty kilometre to go banner
Vanbilsen/An Post Sean Kelly has gone off on his own to try his luck at the front
But the other riders haven't let him get too far ahead and are closing him down pretty swiftly
Under the red kite and he is still managing to hold the others at bay as he catches up with some back markers
He has done it but there is not enough room for him to celebrate has he has caught up with the stragglers of todays event

The guys really suffered today with that cobbled climb and finished the race totally exhausted.
But hats off to Gary in getting a 5th placed finish, drinks are on him tonight on the journey home |
