Yeey, 1000 posts! Celebration here! To honor that I tried upping the quality and it worked. Stages take some more time to load, but that doesn't matter, it looks fantastic!
On request: Machado's stats in spoiler.
Critérium du Dauphiné 2013 - Stage 2
Another day, another chance at bliss!
Expected to end in a mass sprint, this stage is quite hilly. Expect riders like Boonen and Stijn at the finish!
I just spend my day enjoying wearing the Young Jersey. I hope I can hold on to it until the end!
The breakaway consisted of some dangerous riders like Vinokourov. But Rabobank and Omega Pharma - Quickstep didn't let the distance get out of hand and they controlled the entire race.
I finished well inside the pack and am looking forward to the hillier and especially more mountainous stages!
It's been a while since I raced. Last time was in Picardie, over a month ago. But I started here with a lot of confidence. I think I can get a decent result here at the Dauphiné. Maybe I'm dreaming of the Points Jersey. If you can get it here, you can get it at the Tour! One day I'm going to wear that Green Jersey!
Anyway, Boonen took a nasty fall and his whole team worked hard to bring him back. It was 30 km from the finish so the pack wasn't going to wait for him!
He got back all right, but he was experiencing some pains, so he wouldn't sprint very well. Rabobank was setting up a lead-out, I just hooked on their train today!
And they finish it off. Brown takes a beautiful victory, while I sprint to a second place!
A pretty good result, I think. There aren't a whole lot of sprinters here, so if I'm lucky I might win a stage here!
Result
1 | Graeme Brown | Rabobank Cycling Team | 5h08'32 | | 2 | Stijn Van Gent | Team Argos-Shimano | s.t. | IanButler | 3 | Anthony Roux | FDJ-BigMat | s.t. | | 4 | José Joaquin Rojas Gil | Katusha Team | s.t. | | 5 | Daniele Bennati | Radioshack Nissan Trek | s.t. | | 6 | Borut Bozic | Astana Pro Team | s.t. | | 7 | Lloyd Mondory | Ag2r La Mondiale | s.t. | | 8 | Philippe Gilbert | BMC Racing Team | s.t. | | 9 | Paride Grillo | FDJ-BigMat | s.t. | | 10 | Francesco Ginanni | Acqua & Sapone | s.t. | |
Tomorrow's another chance for the sprinters!
Until then,
Stijn & Willy |

Good stage from Stijn! Machado has some decent stats too, pity irl he can't perform like that on a GT. |

PCM rulezz - Thanks! Rabobank was impressive, nothing to do against that! Stijn had Meersman, but it ended there.
FreitasPCM - I agree Maybe in a year or so?
Ollfardh - It's a dream, he'll do his best and if that's good enough, the jersey will come!
Daggen - I think so, but there were also points in the prologue, so I should check first
rogvi97 - He's sprinting 78
sutty68 - I know, let's hope he can get a win here, that would be amazing! |

Hm, Machado will be 28 this year, and since he joined RadioShack his climbing development stagnated, he only improved his time-trial skills. It would be good, but I don't have high hopes. |

Second! Only a bike length off isn't too bad, and 7th in a prologue is pretty damn good! Keep it coming!

A great way to start of the race. Nice job. And let's hope Stijn does enough to win a stage or 2

FreitasPCM - Maybe... Maybe Costa?
locodoco - I'm curious myself! Thanks.
ReimToast - Will do. The field is hard, but they have the advantage of youth and surprise
Jakstar22 - He'll do his best, that's for sure! Thanks!
Little update: will most probably race today, but late in the afternoon. So expect a report by dinner time |

Critérium du Dauphiné - Stage 3
The third stage. No big changes for the GC are expected.
Today's stage is a tough one for the sprinters. The final climb is close to the finish and the sprinters will have a hard time hanging on.
That final hill looked like the perfect way to surprise some riders and take some seconds in the GC. Stijn told me halfway the race he didn't have the right legs, so I took my chance!
I didn't want to go 100% with a mountain stage coming up, and 90% was simply not good enough. Monfort passed me by a bit too easily.
Rui Costa caught up pretty quickly with the rest of the pack and I offered him my protection for the rest of the stage.
Willy really stretched things out. I was barely hanging on...
Despite my bad legs, I was able to get back to the front, fight my way back slowly. I seemed ready for a nice sprint, but that action had sapped all my remaining energy.
I was worth less than a turtle on a bike and totally blew out there. Geslin won the strange sprint.
Well... That's a bitter disappointment. Bye-bye points jersey. There's only one flat stage left, let's hope for better legs.
Result
1 | Anthony Geslin | FDJ-BigMat | 4h03'27 | | 2 | Anthony Roux | FDJ-BigMat | s.t. | | 3 | Blel Kadri | Team Europcar | s.t. | | 4 | Gianluca Brambilla | Liquigas-Cannondale | s.t. | | 5 | Samuel Sánchez | Radioshack Nissan Trek | s.t. | | 6 | Johnny Hoogerland | Vacansoleil-DCM Pro Cycling Team | s.t. | | 7 | Vincenzo Nibali | Liquigas-Cannondale | s.t. | | 8 | Daniel Martin | Team Garmin-Barracuda | s.t. | | 9 | José Joaquin Rojas Gil | Katusha Team | s.t. | | 10 | Tony Gallopin | Radioshack Nissan Trek | s.t. | | (...) | 28 | Stijn Van Gent | Team Argos-Shimano | s.t. | (...) | 31 | Willy Wouters | Team Argos-Shimano | s.t. |
