Yeah, and VDB was really counting on him for the Tour. Now he'll only have Vanendert, and possibly De Greef, who may change his schedule.
EDIT This was 1000th post, great

Route Loire Atlantique
An easy day in the pack today, just focussing on the sprint. There was a dad in the peloton today, Eric. He says having a kid didn't change him, but I saw him taking corners a bit more carefully!
The only real competitor here today was last year's winner: Petit. So it was his wheel I had chosen and it turned out I was right. As soon as the sprint started, it was obvious we were sprinting for the win, a cut above the rest today.
Oh, no... Not this again. I didn't really come here with a big purpose, this isn't the biggest race, but I wasn't expecting this. Another 2nd place.
Result
1 | Adrien Petit | Team Type 1 - Sanofi | 4h46'24 | | 2 | Stijn Van Gent | Lotto-Belisol | s.t. | IanButler | 3 | Rüdiger Selig | Champion System Pro Cycling Team | s.t. | | 4 | Leonardo Duque | Cofidis, Le Crédit en Ligne | s.t. | | 5 | Sébastien Turgot | Team Europcar | s.t. | | 6 | Maxime Vantomme | Landbouwkrediet-Euphony | s.t. | | 7 | Francisco Ventoso | Movistar Team | s.t. | | 8 | Jimmy Casper | Euskaltel Euskadi | s.t. | | 9 | Jonathan Cantwell | Orica-GreenEDGE | s.t. | | 10 | Jean-Eudes Demaret | Team Europcar | s.t. | |
In other news: Mark Cavendish won Milan - San Remo for the 3th year in a row! I should've been there, 2nd place there wouldn't bother me! |

Strong sprint by Petit.
And you really should stop being 2nd. |

@JuanMotr: Definitely! But without any good prize money, who can afford €100 an hour?
@return: I know, however, if Eric will be second in Giro, I'll call it a success
@TheManxMissile: What am I doing? |

Don't you have free healthcare (including psychologists) in Belgium just like in Norway? |

Not for psychologists, unfortunately (though we recoup a part of the money) it also depends on how important it is, for example: operation after hit-and-run: free
operation boob-job: you pay it yourself
I consider Stijn between those two |

If you can afford Dr. Fuentes and Dr. Ferrari, you can afford a psychogist |

I predict his win will come at Gent-Wevelgem, then again at Paris-Roubaix
I imagine RVV is too tough for Stijn (except for his stats )
or maybe in the race just before...
btw nice way to control the number of wins come second

@SweatyViking: It'll be the doping or the psychologist, what a dilemma!
@Alakagom: I hope so
@TheManxMissile: I hope his win will come.
I'm not controlling the wins, I'm just getting used to the new difficulty |

GP de Cholet
Well, this would be a good test to see how I survive them hills!
Nearing the sprint on the final climb, I felt the energy draining out of my legs. This was not a good day for me.
One man jumped away on the climb and escaped from the sprint: Geslin.
The sprint for the second place. Since I was pretty beat already, I didn't give it my 100%. Best I could do is 2nd again, so I really wanted to avoid that.
Result
1 | Anthony Geslin | FDJ-BigMat | 6h09'01 | | 2 | Jonathan Hivert | Saur - Sojasun | s.t. | | 3 | Benoit Vaugrenard | Endura Racing | s.t. | | 4 | Francesco Reda | Lampre - Caffeco | s.t. | | 5 | Stijn Van Gent | Lotto-Belisol | s.t. | IanButler | 6 | Piet Rooijakkers | Team Argos-Shimano | s.t. | | 7 | Christophe Riblon | Ag2r La Mondiale | s.t. | | 8 | Maarten Wynants | Landbouwkrediet-Euphony | s.t. | | 9 | Stéphane Poulhies | Saur - Sojasun | s.t. | | 10 | Adrien Petit | Team Type 1 - Sanofi | s.t. | | 125 | Eric Lombaerts | Lotto-Belisol | + 3'14 | IanButler |
I'm getting back into shape. My goal, the Giro, is far away and I should be in top condition by then!

I'm curious whether you perfected your smell during the off-season. Stijn hopes your right, any win in the four big cobbled races makes for a good season |
