It would be nice if riders would disregards orders from time to time, ie attacking even if you tell them to stay put (remember Contador in the 1 st mountain stage of TDF?) or not wanting to protect a teammate, or continuing to relay in an escape group, even if you tell them not to.
I think that this should only happen if they implement a new be a pro sort of mode like ea sports has introduced. or have a setting were you could choose for this to happen or not. For realism.
That'd be a good feature - a sort of nod to the Hinault/LeMond team rivalry in the 80's, or in the French teams of the 50's... top flight Stage Race specialists could balk at being made a super domestique.
I'd like to see the game opened up for more historical racing - I think it'd be fun to replay the famous battles like Anquetil vs. Poulidor, Merckx vs. Ocana, or Hinault vs. Zoetmelk... sure, you can make the databases, but the graphics and scenery don't make it realistic - they could sell expansion packs for different time periods. |

Yes, it's what most people want and every year it's the most suggested. It's been suggested so many times that it's gotten to the point that every time Cyanide open a suggestions topic they make a point of asking people not to suggest this.
Still isn't in the game, though.

Seeing that Cyanide didn't want the suggestion again this year, it'd be rather surprising if the feature had been added. |

I want fans! Like in FIFA where you once in a while have to make a decision about what you wanna do for your fans, in pcm it just should be an extended version.
In general much more work as a team manager, with fan and press ect.
Might be fun to chose between different roles on the team, as a rider, manager, sports direktuer ( The man in the car, leading the team throug races), ect. and then later in your carrea you would have the posabillity to get into a better job.
More work with trainers and scouts, might also mekaniks.
one more thing, i think it's a little sad, that one day you can race in france nex day same rider wins in US. - Make the riders humans - also bookings of hotels and stuff, not important but great in 2012 or something like that.
by the way great post by nicolas7412, that's how you do it! |

Having fans of a team is much more relevant in football than cycling though

Here's a tip for the next PCM: try not to crash 300m from the finish line when I'm about to win my first ever bunch sprint San Remo

That's bad luck.
Never played much with the sprinters, but just started a career where my aim is to win MSR with Haussler, P-R and the Worlds with Hushovd. Would be unhappy to crash if I'm about to win any of those. |

the cposts above about riders being selfish on race day, maybe if a rider has low morale this increases the chances of them doing their own thing |

I really think that the manager side of the game should be improved big time, cuz pressing "continue" and reading other races' results untill your next race isn't enough. It should be more like Football Manager.
-You can start with more info about riders and staff.
Exact date and place of birth, weight, height, personality, languages, favorite: moves, staff, riders and teams (some cyclists should never leave their favorite team) + full history of career.
-Riders should take some time to adopt in new team and learn language if it's foreign to them.
-More interaction.
Riders like or dislike each other or you as a manager, future plans (eg. wants to move to a bigger team, better contract or status, wants to ride in the same team as xxx). It would be nice if they would react to your decisions (getting rid of team mate, not participating in their favorite race, WC, riding too many days or training too much). There should be some conflicts in the team and between riders from other teams (eg. after shoulder to shoulder fight at last meters).
-Interaction between managers. Keeping good or bad relations with other managers.
-Somebody already mentioned interaction with other teams during the race which is very good idea.
-Youngsters' generated faces would be nice.
-Rumors.
About everything (riders, races, staff, doping, team situation, yourself and other managers). You should be able to response to the rumors about you and talk to your rider to find out if information about him is true or not.
-Interviews
(before, after and between the races, at the end and start of the season, answering to the rumors) that will affect yours and other riders morale. Talking about team plans, future transfers etc.
-You should have a contract and negotiate it every time it's close to the end. Obviously you should be able to change your team or being fire. If sucked then you can get offers from other teams or stay unemployed for some time (depending on your reputation and other managers status). You should be also able to create your own team from your earned money or with bank loan help.
-Extending contracts with staff should be more than just pressing extend. You should also be able to get trainers, scouts and doctors from other teams and in fact they should be the best ones.
-Own abilities (as a manager).
Popularity, reputation, finance managment, loyality to club and riders, dealing with media, personality etc. Depending on that cyclists would be more or less likely to work with you.
-You should decide how to treat riders injury and they should agree or refuse it (eg. refuse injection - just like in FM).
-Speaking of injections I would really like to see dope in PCM11 (I know it's already too late for PCM10 suggestions) and obviously random doping tests.
-Team and race reputation should be changing with years.
Depending on results teams should gain or loss reputation. Same with races. Why for example Eneco Tour has to be 8 stages and E8,000 a win for next 100 years? It should change and have a chance to become next Giro... or Course de Solidarnosci for that matter. There should be new competitions and some should be gone either. I'd like to see investors putting money from time to time into teams and also I'd like to see some big taking overs taking place.
And just at the end something little bit off management topic. I'm not a racist but... something must be done with black youngsters from Lithuania!

I think what's really missing is the real life rule that if you crash in the last 3 km of the race, you get the same time as the group you were in until the crash. Yesterday I was running the last stage of the Giro with my rider at Lampre (Nibali) ahead of Basso by 41 secs. Basso crashed in the last 2 km and lost 3.5 mins which resulted in him dropping from 2nd to 3rd. I'd be pretty upset if I had lost the Giro because of a fall in the last kms of the race. The time gaps are huge if you fall behind the peleton even a tiny bit, so this rule has to be put in place. |
