Btw you can read Jani's explanation of the sprint here:
https://www.astana-cyclingteam.com/rac...ardia.html
And some of the members of the forum should really show some respect , when you have someone on the forum that actually does one of the toughest sports in the world for real, it's common knowledge to show respect. |

Actually this reminds, of the 1950 Paris-Roubaix, as the rider coming, second after Coppi, celebarted, like if it was a victory, and thanked God, for letting him etc. and a smart journalist, then told that Coppi had, won the race, and to that the rider answerd, Coppi doens't count . It may not be true, but it's still fun.

"I'm the first human across the line" - Raymond Poulidor, worlds silver medallist 1975, behind Merckx.
Granted, Raymond didn't do an irregular sprint and Cunego isn't Merckx, but still..... |

Obviously, a lot of the new guys do not know the story about Gianni. Back in the Cyanide forum days, Janez Brajkovic was registered as Gianni. Back then, he wasn't very known, but he usually kept us updated on his results. After his great results in the U23 World Championship TT in 2004, he obviously became more known in the public, especially when he was signed by Discovery in 2005. He also started posting less.
But obviously, he's still looking around and reading what we're writing
As far as I know, there's not any other pro cyclists on this forum. |

I still think its pretty awesome the he is on the site and we shouldn't slag someone for making one mistake. Everyone makes mistakes so if this is the first most embarrassing one we shouldn't take the piss so much. Ruben should have known to be honest and he sparked it all off. Oh well. I don't think he will be back here in a hurry =/ Shame really... |

I take the piss on him? No, I simply express my opinion on the race like everybody else does. I'm not gonna act differently just because it's Gianni. Sorry to dissapoint you.
This is a discussion forum, and if I think the sprint was dodgy and cheering for 2nd place is funny, it is my right to express that, wether it's Brajkovic or any other rider. If Gianni get's offended by that, then I think he needs to toughen up, because there are much worse things that can happen to you as a cyclist then some random guy saying something about your race on the internet. |

I'd agree with Ruben.
Everyone has a right to express an opinion. Brajkovic didn't seem to hold his line in the sprint and the celebration for second was maybe a bit over the top. You want to laugh, laugh.
Having said that, to be second at Lombardia is a great result and I hope Gianni will be able to build on it next season. |

I want too see your expression coming across the line in second in Lombardia...
Also, great ride by the American Craig Lewis for 11th.

Yeah, I passed him (er wait...he passed me) on some roads in north Georgia. He stopped to eat up at a small little restaurant up on the top of the mountain, and well I was hungry Had a conversation with him, cool guy.

lol you guys most discussed sprint for second ever recorded on this fora?
Maybe it was irregular? Who cares? I'm sure it wasn't intentional. Both Gianni and Uran did very well! Kudos to both! |
