To all silent readers. I'll try to post regular again. Let's see how far it will go
Where was I? Ah. Volta a Portugal! Almost identical stage to that previous one. Almost.
This time the peloton gave away a victory to the breakaway. I finished 6th from the main group.
Top 15:
| 1 | Benny Hildmann | BORA - hansgrohe | 5h05'05 | | 2 | Francesco Gavazzi | Androni Giocattoli - Sidermec | s.t. | | 3 | Sergio Pardilla | Caja Rural - Seguros RGA | s.t. | | 4 | David Van Der Poel | Corendon - Circus | s.t. | | 5 | Simone Bevilacqua | Neri Sottoli - Selle Italia - KTM | s.t. | | 6 | Francesco Romano | Bardiani CSF | + 35 | | 7 | Alberto Dainese | Bahrain - Merida | + 1'48 | | 8 | Amund Grøndahl Jansen | Team Jumbo - Visma | s.t. | | 9 | Simone Consonni | UAE Team Emirates | s.t. | | 10 | Max Walscheid | Team Sunweb | s.t. | | 11 | Vincenzo Albanese | Bardiani CSF | s.t. | | 12 | Claudio Rusconi | Euskadi Basque Country - Murias | s.t. | | 13 | Mark Padun | Bahrain - Merida | s.t. | | 14 | Alan Banaszek | Caja Rural - Seguros RGA | s.t. | | 15 | José Gonçalves | Israel Cycling Academy | s.t. |
The only real mountains in this race are here. Three difficult climbs on not that long stage.
Massive break of 35 riders decided it's their day for a stage win. I decided to setup a strong pace on first climb. This is the result.
Another climb looks like this.
We are on the top of 2nd climb - 60 km to go.
We are on the bottom of that strange and long last climb - 28 kms left.
12 km. The only fight in this group is for a GC. First group of breakaway riders are almost 6 minutes up front.
4 km to go. The only rider in front of my group from top 10 of GC is M. Padun ( 10th - +3'26" ).
I finished this stage on 8th place in front of every top 10 GC rider except M. Padun.
Top 15:

32 km of the ITT. I'm 2nd in GC. I just need to hope I won't lose that much time.
Well...
Top 15:
| 1 | Lasse Norman Hansen | Corendon - Circus | 39'00 | | 2 | Brandon McNulty | TEAM Schreiber | + 7 | | 3 | José Gonçalves | Israel Cycling Academy | + 11 | | 4 | Filippo Ganna | Team INEOS | + 31 | | 5 | Jack Escritt | TEAM Schreiber | + 36 | | 6 | Rui Costa | UAE Team Emirates | + 47 | | 7 | Felix Grossschartner | BORA - hansgrohe | + 50 | | 8 | Jóni Brandão | Team Jumbo - Visma | + 57 | | 9 | Tao Geoghegan Hart | Team INEOS | + 1'06 | | 10 | Mark Padun | Bahrain - Merida | + 1'07 | | 11 | David De la Cruz | Team INEOS | s.t. | | 12 | Aurélien Paret-Peintre | AG2R La Mondiale | + 1'13 | | 13 | Hermann Pernsteiner | Bahrain - Merida | + 1'23 | | 14 | Lennard Kämna | Team Sunweb | + 1'33 | | 15 | Chris Hamilton | Team Sunweb | + 1'42 | | 118 | Claudio Rusconi | Euskadi Basque Country - Murias | + 6'09 |
Last stage in this race is categorized as flat but again we have an uphill finish. I'm a bit sad about how weak my TT ability are. I lost so much time yesterday...
Top 15:
| 1 | Andrea Vendrame | Androni Giocattoli - Sidermec | 4h03'21 | | 2 | Amund Grøndahl Jansen | Team Jumbo - Visma | s.t. | | 3 | Simone Consonni | UAE Team Emirates | s.t. | | 4 | Max Walscheid | Team Sunweb | s.t. | | 5 | Mihkel Räim | Euskadi Basque Country - Murias | s.t. | | 6 | Vincenzo Albanese | Bardiani CSF | s.t. | | 7 | José Gonçalves | Israel Cycling Academy | s.t. | | 8 | Jay McCarthy | BORA - hansgrohe | s.t. | | 9 | Tony Gallopin | AG2R La Mondiale | s.t. | | 10 | Alberto Dainese | Bahrain - Merida | s.t. | | 11 | Mark Padun | Bahrain - Merida | s.t. | | 12 | Claudio Rusconi | Euskadi Basque Country - Murias | s.t. | | 13 | Aurélien Paret-Peintre | AG2R La Mondiale | s.t. | | 14 | David De la Cruz | Team INEOS | s.t. | | 15 | Alexander Vlasov | Gazprom - RusVelo | s.t. |
I did achieve the goal my team was expecting from me which was finishing in the final top 20 of the GC. I won also 2 stages and was 2nd in points classification. It will be really hard in future to fight for podium of GT with my TT ability. Maybe I'll focus more on stage hunting?
Final general classification:
| 1 | José Gonçalves | Israel Cycling Academy | 42h06'18 | | 2 | David De la Cruz | Team INEOS | + 2'06 | | 3 | Mark Padun | Bahrain - Merida | + 2'18 | | 4 | Aurélien Paret-Peintre | AG2R La Mondiale | + 3'26 | | 5 | Tony Gallopin | AG2R La Mondiale | + 3'58 | | 6 | Alexander Vlasov | Gazprom - RusVelo | + 4'00 | | 7 | Tao Geoghegan Hart | Team INEOS | + 4'42 | | 8 | Lennard Kämna | Team Sunweb | + 4'49 | | 9 | Felix Grossschartner | BORA - hansgrohe | + 4'51 | | 10 | Rui Costa | UAE Team Emirates | + 5'41 | | 11 | Jóni Brandão | Team Jumbo - Visma | + 5'46 | | 12 | Andrea Vendrame | Androni Giocattoli - Sidermec | + 6'33 | | 13 | Donato Sibio | Neri Sottoli - Selle Italia - KTM | + 6'39 | | 14 | Claudio Rusconi | Euskadi Basque Country - Murias | + 6'42 | | 15 | Brandon McNulty | TEAM Schreiber | + 9'27 |

Calendar of racing for the remaining months of the season:
We open yet another stage race with a hilly stage. Nothing serious except a bit uphill finish.
8.6 km to the finish. Almost full peloton is going to fight for the stage win.
5 km to go.
Last km went uphill. I was really well placed and I was able to start sprint exactly where I wanted to. I wasn't blocked or anything. I was first for almost whole final km. I won 1st stage in Vuelta a Burgos!
Top 15:
| 1 | Claudio Rusconi | Euskadi Basque Country - Murias | 3h44'10 | | 2 | Jay McCarthy | BORA - hansgrohe | s.t. | | 3 | Daniel Felipe Martinez | EF Education First | s.t. | | 4 | Josef Cerny | Mitchelton - SCOTT | s.t. | | 5 | Mikkel Frølich Honoré | Deceuninck - Quick-Step | s.t. | | 6 | Mark Padun | Bahrain - Merida | s.t. | | 7 | Thibaut Pinot | Groupama - FDJ | s.t. | | 8 | Dion Smith | Mitchelton - SCOTT | s.t. | | 9 | Merhawi Kudus | Caja Rural - Seguros RGA | s.t. | | 10 | Ruben Guerreiro | Team Katusha Alpecin | s.t. | | 11 | Ilnur Zakarin | Team Katusha Alpecin | s.t. | | 12 | Cesare Benedetti | BORA - hansgrohe | s.t. | | 13 | Luka Mezgec | Mitchelton - SCOTT | s.t. | | 14 | Sam Oomen | Team Sunweb | s.t. | | 15 | Alexander Geuens | Deceuninck - Quick-Step | s.t. |
2nd stage isn't much different. This time few final kms are going a bit downhill.
Really high tempo by Sunweb and Mitchelton made the peloton to split. Even I was left behind. Especially with a headache I have today...
You can't drop me that easy! 3 km to go.
Sunweb and Mitchelton made that final sprint a nightmare. I'm still a leader of GC.
Top 15:
| 1 | Max Walscheid | Team Sunweb | 3h44'53 | | 2 | Michael Mørkøv | Deceuninck - Quick-Step | s.t. | | 3 | Luka Mezgec | Mitchelton - SCOTT | s.t. | | 4 | Jacopo Guarnieri | Groupama - FDJ | s.t. | | 5 | Matthew Walls | EF Education First | s.t. | | 6 | Eduard Prades | Movistar Team | s.t. | | 7 | Jens Debusschere | Team Katusha Alpecin | s.t. | | 8 | Dion Smith | Mitchelton - SCOTT | s.t. | | 9 | Erik Baska | BORA - hansgrohe | s.t. | | 10 | Brent Bookwalter | Mitchelton - SCOTT | s.t. | | 11 | Chris Hamilton | Team Sunweb | s.t. | | 12 | Claudio Rusconi | Euskadi Basque Country - Murias | s.t. | | 13 | Jasper De Buyst | Lotto Soudal | s.t. | | 14 | Alex Aranburu | Caja Rural - Seguros RGA | s.t. | | 15 | Heinrich Haussler | Bahrain - Merida | s.t. |

One of the two mountain stages in this race. Few not so long climbs and one very steep to the finish. Picon Blanco - 8.1 kms long with an average of 9.1%. Thankfully I feel better today than in last two days.
My team and I were trying to make this race harder for WT teams. We start the final climb for today - Picon Blanco.
M. Bizkarra with an awesome work that he is doing! 5 km to go.
I have to go all alone now. Brilliant job by my team-mates.
I made a rookie mistake by going a bit to hard. I lost all my energy and those few riders were at the line before me. I can't be really mad. Those are great climbers. I dropped to 4th place in GC.
Top 15:
| 1 | Marc Soler | Movistar Team | 4h29'51 | | 2 | Thibaut Pinot | Groupama - FDJ | s.t. | | 3 | Ilnur Zakarin | Team Katusha Alpecin | + 1'15 | | 4 | Claudio Rusconi | Euskadi Basque Country - Murias | + 1'33 | | 5 | Sam Oomen | Team Sunweb | + 1'46 | | 6 | Rafal Majka | Mitchelton - SCOTT | + 2'19 | | 7 | Mark Padun | Bahrain - Merida | + 2'29 | | 8 | Daniel Felipe Martinez | EF Education First | s.t. | | 9 | Héctor Carretero | Movistar Team | s.t. | | 10 | Hermann Pernsteiner | Bahrain - Merida | + 3'19 | | 11 | Merhawi Kudus | Caja Rural - Seguros RGA | + 3'29 | | 12 | Alex Aranburu | Caja Rural - Seguros RGA | + 3'41 | | 13 | Ruben Fernandez | Movistar Team | + 4'46 | | 14 | Mikkel Frølich Honoré | Deceuninck - Quick-Step | s.t. | | 15 | Luca Chirico | Bahrain - Merida | + 4'58 |
Not so hard stage between two most important ones. Probably a mass sprint finish.
Brilliant view right before the finish.
Like I thought - mass sprint!
Top 15:
| 1 | Michael Mørkøv | Deceuninck - Quick-Step | 3h38'45 | | 2 | Max Walscheid | Team Sunweb | s.t. | | 3 | Matthew Walls | EF Education First | s.t. | | 4 | Vyacheslav Kuznetsov | Team Katusha Alpecin | s.t. | | 5 | Thibaut Pinot | Groupama - FDJ | s.t. | | 6 | Jens Debusschere | Team Katusha Alpecin | s.t. | | 7 | Jasper De Buyst | Lotto Soudal | s.t. | | 8 | Claudio Rusconi | Euskadi Basque Country - Murias | s.t. | | 9 | Luka Mezgec | Mitchelton - SCOTT | s.t. | | 10 | Marc Soler | Movistar Team | s.t. | | 11 | Eduard Prades | Movistar Team | s.t. | | 12 | Erik Baska | BORA - hansgrohe | s.t. | | 13 | Daniel López | Burgos - BH | s.t. | | 14 | Heinrich Haussler | Bahrain - Merida | s.t. | | 15 | Héctor Carretero | Movistar Team | s.t. |

Last stage of the race and last chance to change anything in GC. I'm 4th right now - +1'33". I'll try my best on last climb.
Lagunas de Neila - 10 km - 6.5% average. First 5 km are much easier than the other 5 which are really hard. We are trying to setup a train for the first 5 kms. The breakaway is still up front with one of our riders - 6 minutes lead. They got this.
We couldn't even setup a train. Attacks by all those great climbers.
Majka, Pinot and Soler are out of my reach.
Well, I did catch them but we all are out of all energy we had. The best 4 in the race finishing together on final stage. O. Rodriguez from our team finished 3rd from the breakaway riders.
Top 15:

On the final climb of the race we dropped I. Zakarin so that gave me a way to finish this race on the podium. I'm satisfied with my performance. I won yet another stage and I finished on the podium. I finished 1st in points classification as a bonus.
Final general classification:
| 1 | Marc Soler | Movistar Team | 19h25'11 | | 2 | Thibaut Pinot | Groupama - FDJ | + 4 | | 3 | Claudio Rusconi | Euskadi Basque Country - Murias | + 1'33 | | 4 | Rafal Majka | Mitchelton - SCOTT | + 2'29 | | 5 | Ilnur Zakarin | Team Katusha Alpecin | + 2'42 | | 6 | Sam Oomen | Team Sunweb | + 3'17 | | 7 | Daniel Felipe Martinez | EF Education First | + 3'26 | | 8 | Mark Padun | Bahrain - Merida | + 3'40 | | 9 | Hermann Pernsteiner | Bahrain - Merida | + 4'20 | | 10 | Alex Aranburu | Caja Rural - Seguros RGA | + 4'27 | | 11 | Merhawi Kudus | Caja Rural - Seguros RGA | + 4'40 | | 12 | Héctor Carretero | Movistar Team | + 4'50 | | 13 | Mikkel Frølich Honoré | Deceuninck - Quick-Step | + 6'54 | | 14 | Antonio Pedrero | Movistar Team | s.t. | | 15 | Ruben Fernandez | Movistar Team | + 7'07 |

Since we are in the middle of transfers season I needed to think about the future. I decided to choose Euskadi Murias as my current work place, mostly because I was hoping we might get a La Vuelta invitation as a Spanish team. That didn't go well even with few other invitations to other Spanish races (like Basque Country, Catalunya or San Sebastian). I'm not feeling well in Spain even though I have few amazing victories in this season. I decided to reject an offer for another year from Euskadi Murias. I'm currently thinking about one of those two French teams. I'll let you know what I decided.
So it's time now for another 2.HC category stage race. Now in Britain - 8 stages. Most of them aren't hard, but I have to be careful. Few of them have a really hard finishes. We start with a short and flat stage for sprinters.
I tried to sit on F. Gaviria wheel because I thought it's my best chance for decent place. I wasn't wrong. They were just out of my league and Gaviria won the first stage.
Top 15:
| 1 | Fernando Gaviria | UAE Team Emirates | 2h24'27 | | 2 | Luka Mezgec | Mitchelton - SCOTT | s.t. | | 3 | Tom Van Asbroeck | Wanty - Gobert Cycling Team | s.t. | | 4 | Alberto Dainese | Bahrain - Merida | s.t. | | 5 | Matthew Walls | EF Education First | s.t. | | 6 | Thomas Pidcock | Team Wiggins | s.t. | | 7 | Christopher Lawless | Team INEOS | s.t. | | 8 | Mihkel Räim | Euskadi Basque Country - Murias | s.t. | | 9 | Alberto Bettiol | EF Education First | s.t. | | 10 | Oliver Naesen | AG2R La Mondiale | s.t. | | 11 | Claudio Rusconi | Euskadi Basque Country - Murias | s.t. | | 12 | Ben Swift | Team INEOS | s.t. | | 13 | Owain Doull | Team INEOS | s.t. | | 14 | Simone Consonni | UAE Team Emirates | s.t. | | 15 | Daniel McLay | EF Education First | s.t. |

2nd stage is another for sprinters but that one short "climb" near the finish is giving me hope that I can try something there.
We are on that small climb. The breakaway is caught, but I don't think I can actually escape from the peloton.
Again the setup for F. Gaviria sprint was impressive. I finished in the top 10. Gaviria 2:0 Rest of the World.
Top 15:
| 1 | Fernando Gaviria | UAE Team Emirates | 4h49'16 | | 2 | Oliver Naesen | AG2R La Mondiale | s.t. | | 3 | Thomas Pidcock | Team Wiggins | s.t. | | 4 | Matthew Walls | EF Education First | s.t. | | 5 | Claudio Rusconi | Euskadi Basque Country - Murias | s.t. | | 6 | Mihkel Räim | Euskadi Basque Country - Murias | s.t. | | 7 | Simone Consonni | UAE Team Emirates | s.t. | | 8 | Luka Mezgec | Mitchelton - SCOTT | s.t. | | 9 | Tom Van Asbroeck | Wanty - Gobert Cycling Team | s.t. | | 10 | Georg Zimmermann | CCC Pro Team | s.t. | | 11 | Alberto Dainese | Bahrain - Merida | s.t. | | 12 | Dylan Teuns | Bahrain - Merida | s.t. | | 13 | Owain Doull | Team INEOS | s.t. | | 14 | Tony Gallopin | AG2R La Mondiale | s.t. | | 15 | Edoardo Affini | CCC Pro Team | s.t. |
Now F. Gaviria won't win this stage. The reason is that final climb of today. Let's see what I can do here.
We are on the bottom of the final climb. Short and steep!
J. Polanc tries to attack. My diesel is bringing him back.
My really high pace makes no one else able to attack!
What an impressive win! Except Polanc who tried so surprise me at the beginning, no one was able to overtake me. I won again!

Another stage that F. Gaviria can win. Even with that uphill part really close to the finish.
Tha finish was way harder than I expected! F. Gaviria was there too, but that uphill terrain is giving me a bit more chances than him. And I just did back-to-back wins!

Stage 5 is yet another one that I might collide with F. Gaviria. I didn't thought I was going to say this... Gaviria 2:2 Rusconi.
5 km to go! I don't think Gaviria can survive that short climb.
He seriously amazes me! I was at the front with a lead just at about the final km and then boom! They all overtaken me!

Gaviria 3:2 Rusconi! What a battle. Another flat stage for UAE sprinter. Probably. He is currently 3rd in GC - +29" behind the leader. Which is me, of course!
F. Gaviria - 4th stage win in this race. Incredible!
Top 15:

If I'm still thinking about final victory - I can't give Gaviria win here too! This might be a bit too hard for him and I need to gain some time before final stage. It's an ITT if you completely forget about that! I can lose a lot of time even if it's only 8.8 kms.
10 km to go - F. Gaviria is still there!
That stage wasn't that hard. Gaviria is unbeatable in Britain!

I don't know if my win in GC is still possible here. I'm first in GC. Sure, it's only 8.8 kms, but I don't think I can ride that good to not lose those small amount of seconds to other riders. I have only +9" lead over Gaviria. +19" over Pidcock, +29" over G. Martin. This is going to be a nightmare like in Portugal earlier this year.
Top 15:

Well... I won 2 stages, was a leader in GC for about half of the race, but I couldn't save that. I'm way to weak in fighting against the clock on flat terrain. I can only fight in mountain TT as I already proved in the past once. I can be satisfied with even more wins in this season, but I seriously don't see me fighting in GTs in future.
Final general classification:

Now a bit of the break between riding in stage races. Only one classic. And last one in this season where majority of my races (especially in the 2nd half) were stage races. Flat, but with cobbles! Let's see if it's going to be that successful as that one classic last year. This one is much easier though.
Oh no! I caught a puncture! 49 km to go and I'm all alone.
It's over. After that puncture I was 2 minutes down and no one wanted to work with me to catch the main group. It's costing me too much energy. It's over!
They just don't want to work with me.
I guess I can't always win. That's fine. But in those classics it's really hard to perform well. I was feeling very well when the puncture happened and from that point it was basically worthless to chase the main group.

It's time for my last race this year - in sunny Croatia! One mountain stage, two decent hilly ones. It will be interesting. We start with a flat stage for sprinters.
J. Camacho did an awesome job to setup a sprint for me. I didn't expect to finish 3rd.

One of the two hilly stages. This one have an interesting route on last 13 kms. Few hills and a mountain sprint just 6 km from the finish.
13 km to go. My team-mates are helping me right before the most important part of this stage.
We are right before the summit of 4th category climb really close from the finish.
I'm trying to drop everyone - 5 km more to go!
I did it! What a fantastic win to finish a great team-work.

The only mountain stage of this race. With my current form and how I was feeling yesterday... I don't see the way to not win this stage and race. I'm currently the leader of all possible individual classifications.
We are on the bottom of Gibraltar Road - 10 km with an average of 8.6%, maximum of 14.8%. Steep!
I need to go alone now - 7.4 km to go.
Kamna and Muhlberger decided to attack.
Muhlberger was out of energy much earlier so I caught him a bit earlier too. But Kamna was so close to grab a stage win I thought for a second I can't do it. Luckily he was out too and I barely outsprinted him to grab my 2nd stage victory in Croatia! That was also my 20th victory this season. One better than in my first and I'm not done yet!

A bit of the break. Stage for sprinters, but as usual I'll try my best to grab another good place.
Not today. My team wasn't able to give me a proper place to start my sprint and I was blocked because of it.

Short hilly stage that will decide everything in this race. One hill to the finish. Not that hard, but it can be interesting to see who's going to win this.
We are less than 20 km to the finish. The group of favourites for the stage win is not that big.
Now, we start the final climb for today - 5 km to the finish.
The breakaway is caught, many attacks are happening.
They had no chance to defeat me! I was feeling great and I was in control for the whole climb. Stage win number 3!

Few words from Claudio Rusconi: All I can say after current season is that it was really successful. My number of victories was even higher than in my first season. And those races were also with higher category. I got my first even win in World Tour race - stage win in Basque Country. My team did get few invitations for some WT races in Spain, but not for something I really was waiting for. We didn't even had a chance for invitation for La Vuelta. And that was the main reason why I signed the deal with Euskadi Murias in 2019. Since I wasn't able to ride La Vuelta I searched for the new team for next season. And I decided to join Team Arkea - Samsic for the next 2 years. This time I really hope we csn get an invitation for any Grand Tour next year as I would try myself against the best riders in the world, in the biggest races in the world. I don't think I'll be fighting for some good GC place (if we even get an invite), but rather I'll focus more on stage hunting. Probably. Either way in the next year I'll have to ride more WT races. Still via wild card, but in WT races. See ya in January!

So... I'll just post whatever I had saved in this career. Haven't really played for like... 9 months in PCM19, but you won't be disappointed. Daily updates... for next 2 months.
Welcome in 2021! I'm so proud to be part of Team Arkea - Samsic. I'm really looking forward to see what I'll be able to do in this season. My team decided to apply for many WT races and I'll try to ride in most of them. Full calendar for current year is below. There are some WT stage races, classics, even monuments! Tour de France is there too which is my main goal for this year. Will we get an invitiation? We need to wait. I'll keep you updated if we get an invitation for some races.

The decision about wild cards for Tour de France and Paris-Nice. Right before my first race this season.
I'm going to ride my first even Grand Tour! And it's Tour de France!
We start this season with a hilly classic. For almost whole time we have a flat terrain until a short final climb to finish things off.
Not a good start of this year. Early crash with 100 kms to go but I managed to close the gap to the peloton fairly quickly.
We are on the bottom of the final climb for today - 5.7 km to go.
1 km to the finish. I still have some energy left.
I'm really happy with that 3rd place to start this season. I'm feeling good. I was a bit too far to win this, but it was a good beginning.
