Anyone else smell a sobbing apology?
doubt. He will say it was his identical twin who did it.

Its pretty certain Quickstep wont want to hold a joint press conference to fire their prize asset, so here's a transcript I plucked from the future, just for you t-baum
QSI Manager Patrick: "Team Quickstep would like to make an announcement regarding the recent behaviour of one of its riders. The team is against illegal substances in all its forms, if any large multinational company with cash to spare is listening. Everyone is really devestated/upset/shocked (delete as appropriate) by this news regarding our rider Tom Boonen. We have strong sanctions for riders who do not fit in with the ethos of the team, but ladies and gentlemen - its Tom Boonen, I mean everyone deserves a second Boonen, right? Say your sorry Tom, then we can sweep this under the carpet."
Tom: "[sob, sob]I'm...[sob, sob] very upset that I've been caught... [sombre gazes on camera 4] some stuff about young fans and responsibilities...[now manfully fighting those dry tears] sorry to everyone I let down..."
Patrick: "Well, I think we all agree there's nothing to see here...did I mention I need a new sponsor though? Think of the 'clean comeback' publicity! Come on guys, don't leave now we're at the good part..."

haha, boonen does seem like someone that wouldn't be very remorseful.

wait, so if you get drunk while driving it's one penalty, but if you actually do damage it's another?
what's next, if you try to murder someone it's one penalty, if you succeed it's a harder one?
Giving criminals a discount because they were too stupid to succeed has to be the stupidest law ever

Isn't that so already? At least here in Sweden. Or am I wrong?

In France you'll be charged for intented murder if you don't succeed, and for a murder if you succeed, but not both if you succeed. You can't be condamned twice for the same thing, I mean we have no double fine (unless you appeal and lose the appeal, you may have to pay more).
Bernaudeau said yesterday that he was stopping negociations with Boonen immediately, by the way. |

That’s insane. Where’s the logic in lowering the penalty because someone was too incompetent to achieve what they were trying to do?

But on the other hand you don't have to worry about the incompetent dudes when they get out, cause they won't succeed.

Well, if you try to murder someone you'll get 20 years, most likely, whereas if you manage you'll get a life-long sentence and a security sentence of 20 years, which basically means that if you behave well you'll go out after 20 years too. |

3 more years of Lefévère. The fight against doping just took a huge setback.

That was basically what happened.

I watched Journal de RTBF (on TV5 MONDE), this was their main story and some good coverage. Patrick was all yeah, it's bad. But it happens all the time. However the Sponsor (Quick Step) was even more strange, he said 'We're happy with Boonen, and there is a clear difference between Cycling affairs and personal affairs, this is personal and now we will turn the page'
Oh yeah i understand French TV

Apparently so, he said we'll forget about this and we will turn the page. (Strangely Quick Step didn't refer to them selves as We, he kept saying Je vais tourner la page. I am going to turn the page.)

by another three years
If thats the way it works then all teams should actively encourage their leading riders to party hard like Boonen |
