I started this prologue last from my team. My goal was to finish in the top 30. Stage 1:

1Taylor PhinneyQuick-Step Floors9'09
2Primož RogličTeam Katusha - Alpecins.t.
3Salvatore PuccioBora - Hansgrohe+ 1
4Baptiste PlanckaertLotto - Soudals.t.
5Hoa HeubachTEAM Philipss.t.
6Stefan De BodTeam Dimension Datas.t.
7Edward PlanckaertAGO - Aqua Services.t.
8Robbe CasierAeromobils.t.
9Simon SellierBFM TVs.t.
10Tony MartinTeam Sunwebs.t.
............
150Jonas DuurhuusTEAM Philips+ 7

I think I still don't know how to properly manage my resources...

This time I had to create a sprint train for our leader B. Welter. Also, working at the head of the group for at least 25 kms. Stage 2:

1Marcel FranzSport Vlaanderen - Baloise3h36'02
2Fabio JakobsenDuras.t.
3Rudy BarbierTotals.t.
4Dylan PageBMC Racing Teams.t.
5Christian KochBora - Hansgrohes.t.
6Timé Di StefaniTelenet - Fidea Lionss.t.
7Jonas DuurhuusTEAM Philipss.t.
8Bram WeltenTEAM Philipss.t.
9Maximilien PicouxOmega Pharmas.t.
10Enzo WoutersJBLs.t.

Well, he wasn't that good as I expected. Where have you been when I tried to do a train for you?

Not much, but there are some cobbles right here. I'll try my best! Stage 3:

1Jonas DuurhuusTEAM Philips4h24'24
2Fabio JakobsenDuras.t.
3Marcel FranzSport Vlaanderen - Baloises.t.
4Jens KeukeleireSport Vlaanderen - Baloises.t.
5Rudy BarbierTotals.t.
6Timothy DupontBMC Racing Teams.t.
7Christian KochBora - Hansgrohes.t.
8Dylan PageBMC Racing Teams.t.
9Bram WeltenTEAM Philipss.t.
10Enzo WoutersJBLs.t.

On the last two sections I decided to put higher tempo. Just 5 kms from the finish I had about 30" lead. At the end I got lucky. If the finish would have been even 100m further... I would not win!

Very hard hilly stage... Yet, I was still in the group of favourites just 10 kms from the finish. Stage 4:

1Patrick KonradLotto - Soudal5h12'53
2Diego UlissiTeam Dimension Datas.t.
3Tim WellensLotto - Soudals.t.

Another race with five stages. 22nd last year. Hat-trick of third places in GC?

Short prologue, my objective: top 30. Stage 1:

Breakaway? Not this time. Team wanted it, but I think it will be better to save my energy for last kms. Stage 2:

i63.tinypic.com/vqsjfc.jpg

4th place? I'll take that.

Stage with some hills. Stage 3:

17Jonas DuurhuusTEAM Philipss.t.

Yeah. I was not the smartest guy right there... I started my sprint to early.

Last stage! This time I will not be 3rd in GC, but I can't say it was a bad race. Rather... not quite good from tactics values. Stage 5:

1Jérémy LecroqFDJ4h02'31

Flat classic but with some really hard mountains. I have two things to do: breakaway and to finish in the top 30. I think I will go for a mass sprint Pfft.

Flat classic in Belgium. Last before the break and contract signing with another team. Yes, I'll leave TEAM Philips after 2 years. I'm really grateful for the chance they gave me.

I had to be a part of the sprint train for Wippert. But for this race I'm also a free element. I'll fight for another great performance! Stage 1:

i68.tinypic.com/5d6ueg.jpg

Wooo... That's going to be really hard stage. A lot of KotM sprints. Very hilly. A lot of great riders too. If they put a big tempo... I'll be in trouble. Stage 2:

1Jasper StuyvenQuick-Step Floors5h16'17

I was expecting something slightly better. I think I seriously need to think about my calendar. I already have 72 days raced and still a lot more to ride. At least now it only will be one day classics.

Croatia14
yeah, maybe thinning out the calendar in terms of non-cobbled stage races may help the race fitness in the classics at the end of the season - worth a try for uprising Jonas probably

Yes. I can say now that next year will include only 28 races. This year it was 44 in the preview. A lot more. I'm still looking for a good calendar but it seems I found a few "steps" of creating a good one.

Who knows?

We open the series of classics, in Netherlands! Top 50 for today seems to be easy goal. Flat classic, but with the chances that breakaway will win this.

Now hilly classic in Belgium. Some cobbles are there too! My goal? Finish in the top 3! Oh lord... I'm very tired of the season so it might not end well.

Race was very selective. With 50 kms left main group of favourites had only 28 riders in it. With 21 kms left there were only 24 riders in the main group. With 7 kms left: Only 9 riders in my group. So... I was doing my best, but as I said, I'm very tired of the season. Still, 4th place is pretty nice!

We are staying in Belgium for another classics. This time flat one, but with very hard short cobbled climb. We will take that climb 4(!) times!

My tiredness is really making me pay now for all my effort this season... But! I decided to attack on last cobbled climb. I catch up the breakaway with Van Emden from Philips still at the front and I almost won it! Maybe I'm not that tired Pfft.
