Very good schedules for your leaders, pretty straightforward but I like how you think. We should meet Drucker, your puncheurs and climbers quite a lot this season, hopefully at the front I'd say Kreder too but that's him at the front and Clarke in 10th Best of luck for the January races where you should get some airtime and decent results from all three, see you there!

I would have loved some c1 cobbles for Drucker but aside of that, your planning looks very good! I like that you tried to avoid c1 races for your other leaders!
A Big Thank You To All MG Reporters!

@Jandal: Thanks and all the best to your boys as well. Our teams should clash quite often even with your preference for climbing more than mine. Look forward to the challenge
@Knockout: Drucker has two cobbled races (and 3 cobbled RDs in C1). Kept our interactions with the higher ups to a minimum on purpose. Not sure how fruitful it would've been.
Btw, not sure if anyone noticed that Bardet and Battaglin's schedules are an exact copy

Schedules look along the line that is to be expected. I was a bit surprised to see Barder/Battaglin with so many hill rather than mountain RD's, but guess you had no other mountainy races available. In that instance, I might have risked a couple of the short C1 stage races on the programme. Similarly, Drucker unlikely to be winning in C1 cobble races, but decent shot at top 10 in the right events, probably a less risky option that Olympia Tour from a points perspective, but of course it is a home race for you, so kudos on the RP!

I didn't want to risk going to C1 mountain races with the kind of combined climbing strength in PCT and CT. Bardet and Battaglin would probably be fighting for top 15 places at best. You are right, Olympia is mainly for RP purposes, being the only full race on Dutch soil, but who knows, a couple of top 10s might be possible if it is overlooked by the top teams. GW was an easy pick given the RDs Drucker had left over. Had half a mind to skip a couple of the hilly C2 stage races and go to de Panne and Kigali, but decided against it. Varied schedule for a varied squad!

Cleared for Take Off! - January Preview
"The Future in Motion"
Rider | Role | Romain Bardet | Free Role | Enrico Battaglin | Free Role | Marcel Wyss | Co-Leader | Jaoa Costa | Co-Leader | Rob Ruijgh | Domestique | Ronan Van Zandbeek | Domestique | Tom Leezer | Barouder | David Per | Domestique |
The first ever race in our MG history and we want to make a big impression. For this reason, we are sending our best climbers, be it in hills or mountains, to Cuba! We are very big fans of Liverpool FC here in the Philips-Continental management team and felt it would only be apt to honour them in our first race. You can think of our tactics here as mirroring the Klopp Gegenpress. As such, the possible outcomes are as clear as black and white; either we will press the life out of our opponents with attacks from every direction possible, or our gamut of leaders will trip each other up trying to defend their positions. I do hope it is the former! Expectation: Top 10
Watch Out For: Tom Leezer
Rider | Role | Michel Kreder | Sprint Leader | Romain Bardet | Co-Leader | Enrico Battaglin | Co-Leader | Rob Ruijgh | Domestique | Tom Leezer | Domestique | Ralf Matzka | Leadout | David Per | Free Role | Miles Scotson | Domestique |
Unlike in San Cristobal, we do not have very high expectations from this race, given the quality of climbers that should on the startlist. Instead, we decided to go for a two-pronged points hunting approach with Kreder targeting five possible bunch sprint finishes. We expect this to be a low-key race for us. Hoping for a couple of excursions into the break from our guys to break the monotone. Expectation: Top 10
Watch Out For: David Per
Great Ocean Road Classic
Goal Race - Top 5 Rider | Role | Jempy Drucker | Sprint Train | Alexander Krieger | Sprint Leader | Dmitri Grabovski | Pace Setter | Marcel Wyss | Free Role | Maris Bogdanovics | Leadout | Jos Van Emden | Sprint Train | Ronan Van Zandbeek | Pace Setter | Albert Timmer | Pace Setter |
The first goal race of the season comes around in the first month itself. Last year's Runner-Up Albert Timmer is a shoe-in to start but he isn't the guy leading our charge. Leadership duty has been handed to Krieger with Bogdanovics responsible for setting it up for the German. We expect our sprint train to deliver the goods here. High winds like last year might play into the hands of our flat specialists, so that eventuality has been accounted for. Anything lower than a podium would be a disappointment. If we miss our Top 5 goal, it will surely be an early disaster. Expectation: Top 3
Watch Out For: Albert Timmer

You are setting really high expectation into your team.
Not having the exact overview over the Great Ocean Road Classic sprinter field but I think there are plenty of top sprinters in the CT division.
Out of mind I have Granjel Cabrera and Haller, who surely are potential CT sprint dominators.
I really hope Krieger does get you a podium obviously but I guess chances are decent, he won`t in such sprinter classic. Your train though looking pretty good tbg with lots of class CT leadout riders. |

We have suspected it for a while but now it´s finally confirmed, and we love this team even more now.
For sure we will support you this season, you'll never walk (ride) alone! |

I am not sure whether Krieger and Bogdanovics are the ones to get the points in the great Ocean Road Race, I'd instead bet on Timmer, van Emden & Drucker. This is one of the races where the team can dominate, and with the loads of winds that have destructed the race in the past I can only see the team going full out attacking those winds. Good luck!
For San Cristobal you have the nice perfect attacking squad, while I also enjoy Kreder in his spot very much for Tachira. I can see a couple of stage wins there and an attacking squad in San Cristobal.

@Roturn: Aiming for the moon, so that maybe we can grab some space-dust on the way back down when we miss . Krieger's not even top 10 on my list, but who knows, maybe we'll get lucky.
@Viking: Looks like we have a nice collection of teams who won't be riding alone this season
@Croatia: Whoever gets it done at Great Ocean, we won't be complaining. Not taking weather into consideration till we get closer to the event.
Anything better than a top 10 in the other races would be a bonus. I'll gladly accept what you seem to think is possible

We'll be seeing quite a bit of you this January. We'll likely be bored of each other's team by the end of the month
I certainly think you'll outperform expectations with Bardet at San Cristobal, and it looks like a solid squad you've put together for Great Ocean. Tachira, on the other hand, looks to be awash with sprinters from teams all going for a cheeky sprint stage win, so that strategy may end up backfiring. That being said, breakaways will be your friend this particular trip to Venezuela, and I could see a couple of shock results. You're in prime position to be a beneficiary of one of those.
Good luck and can't wait to get racing

One thing's for sure, I'm not getting bored of racing against you that easily! Always exciting to race with the early benchmark
San Cristobal will be our little team bonding exercise for the climbers. Let's see how they get along. I wasn't aware of other teams targeting sprint stages at Tachira too, but hoping Kreder's hill capabilities might help him in a couple of stages. Great Ocean is the real target and that's where our January will be judged, certainly by us.
Good luck to you too and let's get this started already

Warming Up - Intercontinental Championship Wrap-Up
"The Future in Motion"
The Intercontinental Championships have been ongoing world-wide over the past couple of weeks. In this post, we will recap how your riders fared. We had three riders take part in the races, all associated to European events.
Bogdanovics was a surprise pick for Latvia in the European B Road Race, on a mountainous course. He was on domestique duty. Although Bogdanovics himself finished outside the time limit, team leader Toms Skuijns won the race in a reduced bunch sprint after surviving the difficult course. This meant that Latvia qualified for the European Road Race.
Bogdanovics got another chance to ride in the main event. Once again, he finished outside the time limit. Only two of his teammates actually finished the race.
The only rider from our team to ride in a TT event was Grabovski, representing his country Ukraine in the European ITT. He finished 56th, 1'39" behind the winner.
Bardet was picked as a domestique in a strong French team for the European Road Race. His job was to get leaders Lecuisiner and Sicard into the best position possible for the win. As it would turn out, the best the French team managed was 12th by Lecuisiner. Bardet finished 84th.
Well, that is how our Intercontinental Championships went. We were not expecting big things and that is how it turned out. We were very pleased for Bogdanovics as he and his nation got a chance to celebrate winning the European B Road Race. Congratulations to all the winners and medalists. A big thank you to Roman for hosting the races. We will be cheering on the European team in the Intercontinental Road Race scheduled for later today. Go get them!

Funny you found this today because Liverpool have done both of what I mentioned in the last week alone. No one knows what will happen in the next week!
I get the feeling our first races might follow the same course

Clasico San Cristobal Review The first race of in our history!
Having stayed away from trouble for the first 140 km, four of our riders found themselves in the second group on the road, part of a 16 man group chasing six riders out ahead in front. Among those six were favourites Chaves, van der Hugenhaben and Roux.
With less than 15 km to go, Wyss tries to follow an attack from Chaves, but our man is not strong enough to hang on to the Azteca's riders wheel. He falls back to the much reduced second group on the road, still in with a shot.
As the race goes on Wyss loses touch with the attackers, but is still on course to meet our expectations from this race.
He riders to the finish in a 5 man group who sprint for 8th place. Wyss only manages to be fourth in this group and misses out on our target by a single position. We have Battaglin finish in a respectable 19th position, while Leezer manages a top 30.
Anthony Roux won the race for Xero p/b Octagon.
1 | Anthony Roux | Xero Racing p/b Octagon | 5h08'47 | 11 | Marcel Wyss | Philips - Continental | s.t. | 19 | Enrico Battaglin | Philips - Continental | + 5'52 | 29 | Tom Leezer | Philips - Continental | s.t. | 37 | Romain Bardet | Philips - Continental | s.t. | 42 | Jaoa Costa | Philips - Continental | s.t. | 51 | Rob Ruijgh | Philips - Continental | s.t. | 74 | David Per | Philips - Continental | s.t. | 116 | Ronan Van Zandbeek | Philips - Continental | s.t. |
A decent start to our journey as a professional cycling team. Marcel Wyss lived up to his billing as the leader of our hills campaign. We wish he could've finished one position higher as that would've made our conversation with the sponsors just a little simpler.
We picked Tom Leezer as one to watch in this race and he delivered to the best of his ability. Another pleasant surprise was Battaglin's 19th place giving us a few more points from this race.
A couple of small concerns - first is Bardet's inability to stay with the group of favourites around the 30 km mark. He had a less than remarkable Intercontinental Championship outing and we hope this is still just rustiness. Another concern is Costa's complete absence from the cameras. We were expecting him to causing some concern to the favourites.

Decent start for you guys, gutsy effort from Wyss, was cheering for him in the background but most of all awesome and exciting to see you guys making your debut Battaglin and Leezer picking up a few points is nice to see too, hopefully with some surprises and Kreder doing well in Tachira (reckon you guys should be good there) and a nice GORR you guys could be looking solid after the month is done!
