Tour de Langkawi Discussion

Very grateful all but one of my riders finished the race safely.

1st in GC, Points, KOM, U25 and 2nd in Team is beyond my wildest dreams.

Thanks to Selwink for the great reports.

Shame the AI got stuck on the same formula for 5 stages but it did mean it ended up a profitable race for Sutty as well as me.

Race is over, finally some space to release my thoughts on the race Smile First of course thanks to matt and jandal for posting the two stages when I didn't have the time for it.

I've seen some weird AI stuff going on. The prologue was somewhat reasonable, but especially stage 4 was a mess up with no break at all forming. Seeing all these breaks win in stage 6-10 was very frustrating for me as well, but I think the reason is that the pack just wasn't strong enough. Most stages, only Hankook and Sauber did a big part of the chase, Kraftwerk a little bit. The best riders -apart from the leaders- in these teams did not have a flat stat above 70, and only Denz actually had 70. This probably meant that the pack simply lacked the power of breakaway catching domestiques to actually make a catch. Especially later in the race, when these riders have done much work while the escapees had been taking it relatively easy, it becomes harder for the pack to catch the break. Still, I had expected a bit more of the pack, so I was kinda disappointed as well - though I have nothing against the people who benefitted from it of course Smile -.

Also, fun fact. Hacecky, top scorer of the race, scored more than 10 times as many points as the worst scoring team in this race, Spark.

It's a shame we couldn't bring the break back to get a stage win at home considering how many attempts there should have been after the mountain stages were over, especially as Salleh did win the peloton sprint on the final stage.

On the bright side we still managed to get our top 10 goal through Mat Senan despite Kung's crash and injury. It's not the top 5/ podium I was hoping for but his 8th place is really good as it saves our top 10 goal, is a great for him as I was only expecting a top 15 from him and is a nice consolation and saves our race to a certain degree and makes sure we still take a decent amount of points out of it even if it isn't the great amount I was hoping for it still prevents it being a massive bust.
