He definately looked the quickest of the top three. Its a shame he was boxed in a bit when sprint began |

No
Because when it wuld be 50 more metres, McEwen would start his sprint 50 meters later, and Breschel would again be too late |

Not if he wouldn't have started his sprint 50 metres later, which was my point

You cant take cycling sprint as matematic or logic...
Why is solo sprinters like McEwen, Freire etc. so good? Talents and experienced riders who knows when to go..and wich hole.
Petacchi and Boonen is more "train" users..but I admire most "flash" guys

It doesn't matter what could have happened. There are so many ifs to a cycling race, lots of things could have happened, all that counts is what does

Besides, it's easier to come round from the back once the sprint started, then to keep a high speed with your head in the wind... so the whole Breschel theorie is worthless anyway |

Still a very unexpected strong finish by Breschel. He must be in topform. |

Breschel has a decent sprint for a non sprinter, so it's not like he has to be in top form.
however, look who he beat
4 Markus Zberg (Swi) Gerolsteiner
5 Alexandre Botcharov (Rus) Crédit Agricole
6 Josep Jufre Pou (Spa) Saunier Duval - Scott
7 Heinrich Haussler (Ger) Gerolsteiner
8 Daniele Righi (Ita) Lampre
9 Björn Schröder (Ger) Team Milram
10 Ruben Perez Moreno (Spa) Euskaltel - Euskadi
not exactly a star-studded field of sprinters, eh?
Again, it's not like he's a good sprinter.

In my view he's not a sprinter at all. That's why it was unexpected. What happened to Cavendish? |

uhm...maybe when he lost the wheel he was distracted by a hot dog stand?

Normal mistake MortChill. High Road has like 23 sprinters in their team, so if Cavendish isn't there, one of the other 23 is there to take over the sprint. |

Notice how diplomatic I have been not praising Breschel in any way and eventhough you encourage me to do so, I just don't want to down that road once again, because bottom line is, we will never agree

Klöden wins the time trial with small difference against Dekker and Clement.
Tomorrow is the Queens stage to Zinal, not a really hard mountain stage, because most climbs are only 5/6%. It will be a sprint of a small group I think. If Dekker wins and Klöden doesn't finish second he already loses the lead on bonification seconds. So it will be an interesting stage.
I think Klöden will hold however, he has focussed on this race and didn't ride three classics last week like Dekker, thus Klöden has a better condition at the moment. |
