Lots of hills doesn't always equal good racing, also most of those stages that say they are hilly really aren't that hilly

This. Seriously, my question to dude complaining about stage profiles - did you even checked the profiles themselves or just saw that orange bullshit attached next to stage name? Most of these stages are your typical sprinter stages. |

I think the joke is getting a tad old, but it was a good try, Mateo.
Hopefully you'll come up with something.. more original next time. |

According to Telegraaf Groenewegen will ride the Tour this year, with a sprint train. They expect the following 9 men:
Gesink
Groenewegen
Kelderman
Lindeman
Martens
Roosen
Vanmarcke
Wagner
Wynants

Should have focused on Vuelta where sprinters' field would have been weaker. Other than that pretty expected roster with exception of Roosen, I would have preferred to see Bennett. |

Roosen has been an important part of the train for Groenewegen, so if Groenewegen goes it's not that surprising anymore.
From what I heard Bennett has decided to go for Rio instead of the Tour. Otherwise he would definitely have been in the Tour.

No Bennati, Boara and Tossatto for Contador which leaves Valggren and... who for the flat dom work? Hopefully that won't mean that Sagan gotta help too much out, at least not early on.
Eyes on Thomas and the scrutinised TJ now. Danish commentators are always sceptic of both, especially TJ, and they pretty much already declared Porte the captain. I say wait till its done and dusted, still 3 big stages left.
And how about the white jersey, shouldn't Keldermania and Barguil be the favourites there with that great generation not qualifying anymore? Good little duel.
Costa should flat out focus on stages in France and screw the GC. He just isn't that good in the high mountains and seems to lack consistency. I hope he does. |

Contenders for white: Kelderman, Barguil, Adam Yates, Simon Yates (?), Meintjens, Alaphilippe, Sepulveda.

That is what he's focusing on at this years race so hopefully we see the attacking Rui Costa from his Movistar days

Aru's from 1990 and therefore too old.

Ah yeah of course he is, I only spotted his age and missed his birth year.
Cheers for that!

Another very interesting thing to keep an eye on is the climbing black armada. Less talented than the Colombians obviously, but Berhane, Teklahaimanot and Grmay will be on the attack for 3 weeks. Nice to see some more colour in the mountains. |

"Things are going tremendously well in this first part of the season. I know that these one-week stageraces, with some timetrialling and not-to-steep climbs, suit me perfectly well, I prepare for them the best I can, and my morale is high after seeing the results I've got since February. Now we'll be racing the Spanish Championships; it will depend on how it's all going next week to see if I make the Tour roster or not. If I do, I just hope I can help Nairo all the way to the final podium. We're now three Movistar riders into the top-ten of the WorldTour -Nairo, Alejandro and myself- and that's a very good thing for us as a whole. Yesterday's Marc win is another good sign that things are going well overall for the team - let's hope it continues so."
Ion Izagirre. Interesting. |

If Ion is not going to Tour than who should instead? Ha.

It was never planned. Vuelta was the plan
Quintana outlined these 6 as safe in his press conference:
Quintana
Valverde
Anacona
Gorka
Erviti
Castroviejo
Then you have 3 spots for 6 riders: Moreno, Jesus Herrada, Ion, Ventoso, Oliveira and Dowsett.
Moreno is 99%. You will probably want more than just Erviti for the flats, so I say Ventoso/Oliveira and then Jesus Herrada/Ion Izagirre. |

And just not make it clear, as a Nairo and Ion fan, I definitely prefer Pologne - Olympics (where he is one of the favourites by now) - Vuelta. In the Tour, he will be 100% dedicated, where as in the Vuelta - especially now that Valverde isn't riding - he will have a protected role. He will only have to survive stage 14 to Aubisque. |
