Craven though has +3 in hills to Augustyn and Berhane. Surely a good reason to increase the gap.
When figuring this out, then try to give him a beard as well. Haven`t even realized this. |

Pretty sure it's that way: African teams will all look that way, I "fear".. noticed the same at the Bay Crits, where Compal's Aussies had an "Asian skin" as well.
Nice win for Craven. Not sure if it's because of the length of the race, but it was strange to see so less attacks behind the Top-3 there. Wouldn't be too cool to see just a handful of riders attacking and the remaining bunch "sitting up" in hilly classics this year. I need Bobridge to at least try to fight for Top-10s

Some really scary looking gaps on these races. Well atleast they are one-day races, so the GC races might be closer.

And superior STA, which obviously mattered quite a lot here too with all the hard racing in the 'affected range'.
(at least I hope it mattered, for Kelderman reasons )

Yes, these CC routes are particularly long so stamina will have a greater impact here than for much of the season.

Probably something linked to the country then - which forces riders in teams from that country to use a particular skin template. I reckon it should be fixable, now that it has been noticed.

All of my riders were black on PCM12, but it wasn't a problem last season. Maybe it has come back this season for some of the African countries.
Shame we couldn't get the win there, both Impey and Ben Nasser had good chances but I guess they couldn't stay with Craven and his attack. Congrats to Venchi.
Now got to hope for Kwiatek in Europe.

Not quite sure about the skin colour problem. Cya logic: "Ah yes, an African nation. All riders from there will be black because there are no white people who live in Africa."
Awesome win by Craven - I thought Ben Nasser would take it. At least Dan found his legs after a sub-par time trial. Really happy to have both African Champs on my team.

Slightly disappointing 8th place for Bobridge, though it was all set for McCarthy anyway. Still not too great to get dropped by Bewley Nice win for Kinoshita, who clearly benefits from Aussies not working too smart there.
Thanks for the report(s) and also gratz to Bennett for a nice result.

Great report Roturn, pretty solid ride by Aziz, makes for a nice start to the season. There was no stopping Kinoshita though, what a ride.

Thanks for the report Roturn
Had expected a bit more from Esmaeli to be honest. Ah well, he's more useful as a domestique apparently

Ah George Bennett with a strong result too! I hope this bodes well for the rest of the season. Nice to see my confidence in riders like Reinhardt JvR, Craven, and Bennett confirmed.

Wow, what a nice race, thank you roturn! It is nice to see that it seems like PCM14 AI works better if a team has more than 1 leader. Nice ride by Kinoshita, great to see Bewley riding so well too. I had for a while a hope he could ride over that last hill closer to medal places, but still top 10 is a superb result on this course!

Good racing and reporting going on across the conti champs - thanks to reporters. Most recent Asian race was particularly exciting. Some of the more basic domestique type riders really struggle with the distance! Good champions in Africa and Asia so far, maybe not the top favourite in either case, but coming from amongst the fancied riders at least rather than some weird AI f-up!

Just catching up with these and I have to say in many ways they are more compelling that the Nationals in that we are getting nice interesting AI for the road races.
Two very nice Comtinental champions for Africa ad Asia. After the Oz predicatable domination of the chrono nice to see their 'marginal gains' type approach utterly useless in the RR!
Dan Craven has been a great servent for African cycling even before SN's Erital-Jaguar revolution so a nice winner for me.

Gratz Venchi/Phinney!
I don't mind those gaps, but I'm slightly concernend about the lack of attacks behind the Top-5 (10) in those hilly races so far. Really hope we will see a different "matrix" in the regular season, as i don't want to have bunch sprints for minor Top-10 placings all the time

While the long 260km routes might be one reason, why many 2nd tier leaders, can`t attack, the reason here is a bit different.
All big Nations had at least one rider in front. And as USA was clearly the strongest, it was hard to catch Phinney as Van Garderen disturbed the group behind making them attack and attack to get rid of him. Monsalve as well had no energy left in the end.
I think in stage races, the game will handle it a bit better as it`s also about time and not just position as in classics. |
