Finally we will see where Porte stands as GC contender. He has usually have had one bad day in GT. Uran will be good but he always lacks a bit in mountains. Contador is an obvious favourite. On his day he can even have a great TT.
Aru obviously will suffer due to illness. Will have to see if Landa can fill in. Other than that I think Zakarin might surprise us. Inxausti and Vanden broeck should make top 10.
Kruezinger is also in good form. Will not be surprised to see TCS 1-2 in Milan. |

Shame to see George in poor health, hope he recovers quickly!

and Tinkof playing team manager already..climbing into car and making tactic decisions.
This has been he's plan ..all the time. Like I told after Saxo deal he made .
Poor..poor riders on that team,
Do you still think..he is funny guy and cycling needs guys like him?

Don't be so quick to discount Aru. I agree that it looks very difficult for him to get to a reasonable form in time, but if you believe the dysentery story (whichI don't) you should also take into account that he doesn't need to be on top form for the whole Giro. He could even afford to lose a handful of minutes and recover in the final week. Also the startlist isn't the strongest ever, so his chances are that low.
Other than that I pretty much agree with you. But I think Porte will take it. He's been one step above everyone else this season, and even Contador should be afraid of him.

Sure, Tinkov can push riders to their limits so that they could show the best results. He criticized Alberto hugely after 2013 season and AC found a new motivation and reached his probably the best condidition the season later. Tinkov's statements in genre 'we are the best, 0 chance for opponents' spice the things up too IMO. It makes battle more open. Of course, Tinkov a is petty tyrant in a way, but everything has its negative side.
I suppose Alberto's reserve is still too big inspite of relatively weak season so far. He'll win the Giro, but very likely won't be even in top 5 in the Tour. Honestly I don't quite get why he is trying to do the double. Probably, Oleg made him to try to do this.

Because he loves the challenge.

He'll still start the Giro though. Hopefully he gets a stage win for his mom.

Plus he is rating the Giro the same as the Tour.
So when winning the Giro and missing the podium in the Tour, he will still be happy.
It`s not all about the TdF for all GC riders. |

Agreed. I just don't quite understand attempt of the double in 2015. It would of been totally understandable in 2010-2011, when Bertie was undoubtedly the best climber and the best TT'er (on a good day) among GC riders. Today his edge is very sandy. I'm not sure if he would be the man to beat in the Tour even without racing the Giro. Many many favorable conditions should blow on the sail to make the double possible.

what challenge?
He has been in cycling long time..and knows he's odd's at TdF after 100% Giro ride.
I really hope that this isn't Tinkov mad idea. And Contador will just enjoy TdF after Giro. |

Indeed...don't you think that he has been good to long?
and wont last most important 3rd week.
or he has that Sky magic ..and will enjoy he's 3 month long top form peak. |

What what challenge? Of course the double is a big challenge for Contador and if he wins the double, it'll be an enormous achievement regardless of age, experience & competition et cetera.

Who said Porte was on peak on PN or VC? No big rider would build his season around PN to peak there. Porte's grand goal is the Giro. His main objective in this season is performing in the Giro as well as possible. He will be stronger in Italy than he was in March obviously.
How do you rate probability of the double? Is Contador able to win the Giro, having a lot in the tank left as he did in 2011?

“In the past years the motivation for the Tour completely fulfilled me,” he explained, “but now maybe the Tour alone doesn’t motivate me a hundred percent."

I just hope he gets maglia rosa soon, so we can see him in this great jersey all the way. Get rid of that Tinkoff-Saxo jersey.

He needs way more in the tank of course. But also needs more luck, no crashes please. But in 2011, many thought he wouldn't be able to ride Tour afair, so the double attempt came a bit surprising anyway and wasn't planned from the first step on. He'll ride Il Giro smarter and more energy-conserving this time around.
The Giro this year is also way easier than in 2011.
