A pity that the breakaway couldn't make it. Nice attempt by Olivier. Keizer not losing is good.
Nice report SN. |

A really strong showing by Alarcon once again - What an absolute star he has been this year for me. Good chances of securing a decent team position because of him.
This was a no brainer type of race for him (and of course riders like Suaza and Henao) and it has been an interesting battle between those guys and the more well rounded riders like Machado and Amador. Still three road stages left and despite his relatively low recovery stat I expect Alarcon will need to attack to gain a bit more time before that TT. Podium does look safe however.
Outside Spain looks like Contador is impotent - this race is showing some good nationality bonuses, Time for Jose to lobby for a Venezualan stage race to become Protour

Thanks to everybody for doing F all, I'll take what now should be that points jersey thank you very much. (or should I say thanks to acceleration eh Avin ) My team have supported Alarcon quite well actually in general. Mestre in particular but apart from having an uber domestique we aint doing too bad.
Predictable that it should go to breakaway and it really didn't look like the parcours for much to happen so it was a classic chance for the break. I suspect tomorrow will be similar but we shall see if some of the sprinter teams fancy the chase - they nay as well with the two remaining stages being one more mountain fest and the ITT.
Good Energy secure another very useful break win should keep them ticking and Wikipedia claw something back on Vesuvio that look good for a surprise high finish from Suaza.

Kreder is the 3rd best sprinter left! Not really something to be proud off though when looking at the results of today's sprint

I'm crossing my fingers to have Machado finishing within touch in the last mountain stage. With the way things have gone lately, I think everyone is expecting Alarcon to finish things off there, but there's always so much than can happen, so who knows...
Anyway I guess that everyone is rooting for Machado now that Smowz has hinted that Alarcon's triumph might become the ignition button for the creation of GP Hugo Chavez

Was an obvious breakaway stage. So a shame my team missed out here. That said, who else but Olivier or Bongiorno is left.
Second though having a rather disappointing race without any mentioning. I guess he might be Keizer`s protection only.

At least König tried nicely, even it is not a stage win, nice result!

Alarcon having some season! Great stuff!
Also chuffed with Guldhammer's display here, clinging onto 7th would be great eventhough 8th seems more likely. Some great stage results and the young riders' jersey!

Looked like it was always going to be a breakaway stage, and it feels like Good Energy is involved when it's a stage for the breakaway.
A great stage for Alarcon, and now it probably all comes down to the final mountain stage. Hopefully Contador, but also Antón, is up for it and can at least defend their GC placings before the TT. |

I might be able to fit in Stage 11 today as well, but it depends. I see we are back to more than half PT managers not giving a damn, based on amount of comments on previous stages.
Two critical stages for Suaza coming up. Top 5 still isn't out of the question.

One more please.
Or better two.
Activity is indeed not perfect. Unfortunately.
Weird stage this one. Next two are more important though. |

I barely comment whole week, because I still feel frustration from stage 2

LOL, nice tactics by Howard there! He was likely so tired he could not sprint though, but even through I gladly take that 3rd place for Velits, quite funny result.

#UnFunFact
10 ProTour teams have made less than 5 comments since the Tour de France, while there have been 19 PT reports. Some have made 0.
B&O
Bouygues
Good Energy
ING
Lotto
Pendletons
Santander
Tinkoff
Vueling

Tinkoff is fine because Oleg has been on holiday since the start of Colombia, but otherwise, it is getting quite frustrating.

Well some of the other GC riders have some fun. Pretty sad though in this case for the remaining sprinters, I would have been annoyed has Santos still been here - but then I have nothing really to complain.
Mestre crashing is sad for him - what a great servant he has been to Alarcon, possibly a little bit frivalous from me signing from Privatbank but he has actually been a nice worker. Hope he battles on hard for the last road stage.
It is a shame that many PT managers just barely say much in particular for stage races. But then and it aint a justification really sometimes their team barely do anything.

Too bad Demare couldn't have a shot here, but the stronger riders just had it down. Ratiy not dropped on the flat stages is good, though.

Must admit it's not great to see especially Velits and Denifl grab some bonus seconds there, but hopefully that could mean that Contador saved his energy for the crucial stage 11. He really needs to be on his best if a top 5 overall is going to happen.
I actually thought that stage as well was going to be one for a breakaway, and when it turned out it was all coming together, I was slightly annoyed Van Heerden was out of the race. Probably good he was, considering it would only have felt like another missed opportunity
Thanks for another report, SN, and indeed stage 11 this evening would definitely be great. It's indeed annoying to see so many managers barely making comments, and thus not showing their possible interest in the game. |
