Dallas will definitely be in the Top 5 of my weekly power rankings this week. San Diego has to fall even though they beat Oakland. Denver also wasn't that impressive over the Jets. These rankings are getting harder to make. If Philly can blow out NY Giants tonight they could be Top 3 for me. I still think they are better than Dallas.

1, 2, 3, 5, one of 6/7, 8, I doubt we lose 3 in a row, but its a tough 3 in a row here, weeks 9, 10 and 11) maybe 12, 13, 14, 15, 16
It all depends on Sam Bradford imo, but he had great numbers last year before he went down. He's got better protection this year now too.
Falcons do better too imo.
I couldn't help myself.. I know you are going to say that Bradford is hurt and all.. but still..
Also, you were off on Atlanta as well..
I am not trying to say mine were perfect because they are not at all..
Two of our best defensive players are out long term. Our best player in the secondary and 1/3 of our lethal pass rush. I think any team in the league would struggle to argue they have 3 more important players out than the Rams do. Its rendered our defense to very average and our offense is a huge work in progress with Davis.
Also, remember that game we nearly blew out the Cowboys who happen to be considered one of the top teams this year? Of the games left, I think we can still beat Oakland, Washington and maybe one more in there somewhere.
Its too early to say I was wrong about Atlanta. Even then, last year they had many close games, and its the same this year. Their record doesn't say it, but they are a pretty decent team still.

Besides the first two I think you can put something like 10 teams in top 5.
If I have to put them in tiers it would be:
DEN / SEA
GB / IND / SD / SF / ARI / CIN / DAL / BAL / NE / PHI / DET
CHI / CAR / KC
NO / PIT / NYG / HOU / CLE / ATL / MIA
BUF / MIN
NYJ / WAS / TEN / STL
JAX / OAK / TB
32. Jacksonville Jaguars (0-5) (-1)
-- This team should have a win by now. After a last second blocked Field Goal resulted in them losing to Tennessee, they will need to beat Cleveland or Miami in the next 2 weeks, or they might not have another chance to win until Week 16. They have lost by 17 or more points in all but 2 games this season, and may be on the road to a top draft pick next year.
31. Oakland Raiders (0-5) (+1)
-- Coming off the worst loss this season to Miami, Oakland rebounded by almost beating a Top 5 team in San Diego. Maybe a coaching change was needed afterall. Like Jacksonville, their next 5 games include 4 top 10 teams. It's not getting easier from here. Carr needs to continue improving.
30. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (1-5) (-1)
-- Tampa Bay was losing 0-35 after the first quarter this week, the worst by a home team in NFL history after a quarter. They started out with 3 of 4 decent games (2 close losses and a win against Pittsburgh). They have a bye this week, and a good chance to beat Minnesota next week. That game could very well determine the path that TB takes the rest of the year.
29. St. Louis Rams (1-4) (+1)
-- This team is not as bad as some think, but not as good as some expected. Close games with both Dallas & Philly keep this team on the radar of some, and out of the bottom 3. A strong start to the SF game that collapsed, and a tough schedule in the coming weeks does not look good for St. Louis. Not to mention their lone win is against Tampa Bay, who is worse than them anyway.
28. Washington Redskins (1-5) (-2)
-- Looks like the name controversy isn't the only thing this team should be worried about. QB troubles are on the horizon again, with RG3 out, and Cousins possible on the way out for McCoy. D. Jackson can't carry this team, whose only win is against league worst Jacksonville. A win against Tennessee this week could help build a little momentum though.
27. New York Jets (1-5) (+1)
-- Rex Ryan is sticking with G. Smith, but would Vick be better anyway? He played some, and was worse than Smith. They carry the leagues worst offense, and score the 30th most points per game. The only win was a 5 point escape of Oakland. It will be interesting to see how the team fares in the next few weeks with some key divisional match-ups and a chance to play spoiler.
26. Minnesota Vikings (2-4) (-1)
-- The Vikings have been plagued with QB and RB troubles this year, winning just 2 games to start the year out. Their last 2 games have looked very sloppy, and they will need to rebound against Buffalo this week to keep any hope alive. Teddy Bridgewater will need to be more consistent to give this team a chance, as Christian Ponder is not the answer.
25. Tennessee Titans (2-4) (+2)
-- The Titans played lights out in Week 1, defeating Kansas City by 2 possessions. This team should be 3-4 right now, but they gave up the biggest comeback in NFL history to Cleveland. Charlie Whitehurst is not a quality backup to Jake Locker where this team could get above .500. Sure, he was able to get the team a win over Jacksonville, but not every team is that bad. Playing Washington this week, it is not hard imagining them winning 2 in a row.
24. New Orleans Saints (2-3) (/)
-- Certainly the biggest disappointment this year so far. Two heartbreaking losses in the first 2 weeks and a blowout by Dallas does not leave this team sunk yet. The lackluster win over Tampa Bay does not help matters though. Drew Brees is having a decent season, but this team is not getting as much publicity as expected.
23. Atlanta Falcons (2-4) (-2)
-- The Falcons got off to an outstanding start... wait.. the Saints aren't that good. But what about that huge rout of Tampa? Well, look where they are. Coming off of 3 straight losses, 1 of which was to the Vikings, they have 6 tough games in a row coming up. Winning 2 of them would be considered a success.
22. Miami Dolphins (2-3) (/)
-- The Dolphins suffered a fatal heartbreaking last second loss to Green Bay this week that could have sailed them up in the rankings. Its easy to say that this team has improved since the week 2 & 3 beating's they took. A quality win over New England with a quality performance over Green Bay leaves unanswered questions. They have 2 winnable games coming up, and a 4-4 start is very likely.
21. Pittsburgh Steelers (3-3) (-7)
-- The Steelers are 3-3, but in reality they are 1-5. They escaped a Cleveland rampage in week 1 on a last second FG, and barely beat league worst Jacksonville. They have 1 quality win where they looked strong. Losing to Tampa Bay, and Cleveland the second time, it shows how much this team is in need of a coaching change.
20. Chicago Bears (3-3) (/)
-- The Bears have struggled to find consistency this year. A strong win over SF, a weak loss to GB the next week. All but 1 of their games have resulted in close scores, and the defense has been getting better each week. These next 2 weeks will say alot before another test against Green Bay.
19. Buffalo Bills (3-3) (/)
-- 4 of the first 5 games saw strong performances from the Bills. They almost beat Houston to be 4-2. Loses against San Diego and New England are surely nothing to be ashamed of, and they are 2nd in the division when they were predicted to be last. 3 of their next 4 games are winnable, could we really see Buffalo in the picture come end of year?
18. Kansas City Chiefs (2-3) (/)
-- The Chiefs started out the season very slow, but rebounded with a strong run against Denver. They followed with 2 commanding wins and vast improvements in play. The 49ers slowed their momentum last week, and they play San Diego this week with a chance to make a statement and move up the ranks.
17. New York Giants (3-3) (/)
-- It was a very slow start for the Giants this year with 2 disappointing losses. They followed that with 3 very good wins including Houston who was unbeaten at the time. However, a very bad performance this week at Philly reminded us how they are inconsistent. Not to mention they lost their best offensive player for the year and play Dallas this week.
16. Houston Texans (3-3) (-1)
-- Started the year with 2 wins that they should of had. They have beaten the teams worse than them, and lost to the teams better than them, and being ranked right in the middle of the league seems fitting at this point. The team is on pace for 8-8 which is very realistic looking at the schedule, although I predict 9-7. Houston will have to beat teams better than them to advance in this league.
15. Cleveland Browns (3-2) (+8)
-- The Browns are 5 points from being undefeated this year. They barely lost in week 1, and they have 2 strong comeback wins against the Saints & Titans as well as a strong comeback that failed in week 1. Being up on Cleveland by 20 points does not mean you will win. They play the 3 worst teams in the league the next 3 weeks. A very favorable schedule could see them burst into the Top 10, or fall into the bottom 10 with losses.
14. Carolina Panthers (3-2-1) (+2)
-- The Panthers managed a tie this week against the Bengals, which was the best scenario. Cam Newton is playing lights out, and this team has potential to make a run if they stay healthy and confident. The loss to the Steelers could come back to haunt them, but for now, they need to focus on Green Bay as it is a huge game for both teams.
13. Green Bay Packers (4-2) (-7)
-- This team is just a tackle away from being 4-3 on the year, but Aaron Rodgers led his team to yet another tremendous comeback against Miami. The Pack have now won 3 in a row, and have only lost to defending champs Seattle and division foe Detroit. Lets not forget the early comeback against the Jets that could have gotten out of hand.
12. Baltimore Ravens (4-2) (/)
-- They lost to division rival Cincinnati in week 1, but have been on the winning track since. They lost to Indianapolis in a defensive battle 2 weeks ago, but have since beat Cleveland and Carolina in a fashionable style. Joe Flacco's performance against Tampa Bay could put the league on notice, despite how poorly the Bucs have been playing.
11. Detroit Lions (4-2) (-1)
-- A team only a few minutes away from being 5-1, the Lions look strong this year. A miserable performance against Carolina is the only woe here. Green Bay & the Giants proved to be no match for Detroit, and they have 3 favorable games coming up. They are already leading the division and are on the road to the playoffs at this pace.
10. New England Patriots (4-2) (+1)
-- Tom Brady is a mad man on a mission. After a disappointing 2-2 start, he was put under scrutiny about his age and skill. Miami and Kansas City eased to wins, and NE slipped by Minnesota and Oakland with subpar play. Since then, they have destroyed Cincinnati, who was the last unbeaten team, and division opponent Buffalo. They will have 2 games to prepare for a tough test in Denver.
9. San Francisco 49ers (4-2) (+4)
-- After a 1-2 start, distractions were risen about the coaching staff. Arizona and Chicago both got by SF, but the 49ers have some quality wins. Philly and Dallas, both are 5-1 with their only loss to this SF team. A promising win over St. Louis this week will surge them into Denver this week where they look to make a bigger mark.
8. Cincinnati Bengals (3-1-1) (-1)
-- They were the #1 team a few weeks ago, but that was when they were 3-0. Since then, they have lost to New England in embarrassing fashion, and tied, yes, TIED, Carolina. They should have won that game, but Kicker Mike Nugent missed 3 FG's. He could be looking for new work soon. Out of the 3 wins they do have, the only impressive one was Week 1 in Baltimore. Is this team really as good as we think? Surely we will know this week when they play Indy.
7. Indianapolis Colts (4-2) (+2)
-- They may have started out slow, but they played 2 Top 5 teams in the first 2 weeks and only lost by a little each time. They have beaten everyone in their division once, and they beat Baltimore in a defensive battle. With a win this week over Cincy, the Colts could make a statement to the league that they are the real deal.
6. Seattle Seahawks (3-2) (-4)
-- The defending champs are coming off of a rare home loss, the first in 20 games. Dallas absolutely destroyed them in all aspects of the game except Special Teams. Seattle is not a strong team on the road either, San Diego showed us that. They did beat Denver, which they deserve credit for. A win over Green Bay isn't to shabby either. They should not have any problems starting out at least 7-3.
5. Arizona Cardinals (4-1) (/)
-- Started out the year by squeezing a win against San Diego. The only loss this team has is to Denver, who ranks higher than them. Even the QB injuries they have been having have not stopped the success of this team. Last year they went 10-6 and missed the playoffs, surely this under the radar team won't endow the same result this year.
4. Dallas Cowboys (5-1) (+4)
-- Nobody thought Dallas would be Top 5 this year, especially after that Week 1 disaster against San Francisco. This top 5 position may be solely determined on the dominance of Seattle, but the team does look good. They barely beat St. Louis and Houston, so we aren't sure this team is for real yet, they have to get past division leading Philadelphia first.
3. Philadelphia Eagles (5-1) (+1)
-- As Dallas did, Philly lost to San Francisco, but it was closer than Dallas. The Eagles only legit win may be against Indianapolis, but some argue that the Giants are a good team. Jax, Wash, and St. L are 3 teams that Philadelphia won't gloat about beating, but they can prove themselves against Arizona this week.
2. San Diego Chargers (5-1) (+1)
-- Philip Rivers is playing lights out, and the team is 1 point from being 6-0. Arizona slipped by in week 1, but ever since, San Diego is winning. Sure, barely beat Oakland, but look what they did to Seattle, and the rest of the teams they beat. The Broncos are the only team they play in the next 6 weeks with a winning record.
1. Denver Broncos (4-1) (/)
-- Somehow, this team finds themselves up top again. They lost to Seattle again a few weeks ago, but it was a much better game than the Super Bowl. They beat Indy in week 1, and Arizona in week 5, 2 very strong wins. They have 3 very tough games coming up, and if they can win all 3, it is hard not to think of Denver as the outright favorites yet again.

I still see Philly as overrated in many rankings...their style depends too much on explosiveness and dynamic plays, it's just hard to imagine they can keep that throughout the season.

I had a hard time figuring out where to put them.. anywhere from 8-3 seemed like a decent fit. We should learn more about this team in the coming weeks.

Agree that Eagles are really overrated. Their D made Kirk Cousins and Austin Davis look like Dan Marino ffs. They played well against the Giants but NY really laid an egg in that game. Also in 49ers game they didn't cross midfield till like mid 4th qtr. You can't possibly expect them to score on special teams every game. Their offense will improve once they have the entire oline back tho.
Colts are also playing better defensively that in the start of the season. But they have unsustainable 3rd down defense. The Colts defense is currently #1 in 3rd down conversion rate. They are 23rd in yards per play. They have allowed 3 first downs on their last 28 3rd downs. This is variance at its most obvious and basic level. It won't last. But they also have that guy Andrew Luck on offense and they also seem to be done with establishing with Trich on 1st down and are giving the ball to Bradshaw more.
I watched that MIA-GB game and Miami really didn't move the ball that well on offense till #1 and #2 Packers' CBs went down on b2b plays. Their D played amazing tho there rumors which might be true considering how their dline was jumping at quite a few snaps that Miami knew a lot of GB's audibles because of Philbin. Don't get me wrong, the Packers have a ton of holes and also that idiot FatMike as coach but they also have Aaron Rodgers. When they decide to only give him the ball that offense is amazing.
To be fair I'd put something like SD,IND,GB > CIN,DAL,PHI,BAL,NE. SF is somewhere between tier one and two. I don't know where to put ARI tho.
Meh, everybody in the top13 can win the SB if they run hot in the playoffs. NFL is such a variance-fest.
Any team in the playoffs can with the SB...just need a power outage here or there
Sorry, I guess it's a bit too early for this talk

So let me get this straight. He was traded to seattle for a first, third, and a seventh, and is now traded for what I presume is at best one draft pick?
Who made the smarter move? Minnesota

Seahawks trade Percy Harvin to the NY jets for a draft pick.
Who made the smarter move?
I will say the Jets
Browns should have used that 4th rounder from the Bills. Harvin in a Kyle Shanahan offence would have been great - and then throw Josh Gordon into the mix
Admittedly though, Harvin is an expensive luxury at the best of times. He's neither completely a WR or RB so is hard to fit into a game plan and is inconsistent.
Edited by jph27 on 18-10-2014 08:46
Agree with code, Minnesota is winning in this by far. Harvin is a locker room cancer and it was that way since forever. Seattle probably thought they could fix those problems and at the time his on field play was probably worth it. Now they were gonna cut him at the of this season anyway so why not get a pick instead. If it will be a 2nd round pick, lol Jets, otherwise it's pretty fair.
