The first 4 of our races are just finished and while waiting for the next one to start we think it is time for some stats/stuff.
First of all, the most important one: The ranking.
Pos | | Team | Total | 1 | | In-n-Out Racing p/b Auchan | 316 | 2 | | Eddie Stobart Pro Cycling | 245 | 3 | | Team Vontobel | 230 | 4 | | Fletcher-Garneau | 210 | 5 | | Team TomTom | 144 | 6 | | Team ASDA-Savers | 138 | 7 | | Bank of Ireland - Irish Cycling | 136 | 8 | | Evonik - Signal Iduna | 119 | 9 | | Team Nordeus | 115 | 10 | | Grupo Nutresa | 113 | 11 | | Team Ameriabank-Novatek | 105 | 12 | | Lierse SK - Pizza Ullo Cycling Team | 103 | 13 | | Azteca-NBCSN | 82 | 14 | | Siam Cement - Lenovo | 74 | 15 | | Risa - Ergon | 70 | 16 | | Wounded Warrior | 64 | 17 | | Team Chiquita-Universal | 62 | 18 | | Team Live Nation | 47 | 19 | | Maloja Mountain Nomads | 41 | 20 | | Bonsucro | 36 | 21 | | Sauber Petronas | 25 | 22 | | Team Carlsberg - Danske Bank | 24 | 23 | | Dell - 361° Racing | 20 | 24 | | Alpina - Avianca | 14 | 25 | | ONCE-Eroski Cycling Team | 4 | 26 | | Euskaltel - Bavaria | 0 |
We are glad that we are already that high in the ranking instead of fighting for/against the Wim Vansevenant Trophy. Otherwise, some team manager might argue that this ranking does not says anything as the teams have raced a different amount of races. Therefore, there is the official PPRD ranking:
Pos | | Team | PpRD | 1 | | In-n-Out Racing p/b Auchan | 21.067 | 2 | | Team Vontobel | 15.333 | 3 | | Eddie Stobart Pro Cycling | 14.412 | 4 | | Fletcher-Garneau | 14.000 | 5 | | Team Nordeus | 11.500 | 6 | | Team ASDA-Savers | 10.615 | 7 | | Lierse SK - Pizza Ullo Cycling Team | 10.300 | 8 | | Team TomTom | 9.600 | 9 | | Bank of Ireland - Irish Cycling | 8.000 | 10 | | Evonik - Signal Iduna | 7.933 | 11 | | Siam Cement - Lenovo | 7.400 | 12 | | Team Chiquita-Universal | 6.200 | 13 | | Team Ameriabank-Novatek | 6.176 | 14 | | Grupo Nutresa | 5.650 | 15 | | Azteca-NBCSN | 5.467 | 16 | | Bonsucro | 5.143 | 17 | | Risa - Ergon | 3.333 | 18 | | Wounded Warrior | 3.200 | 19 | | Team Live Nation | 3.133 | 20 | | Team Carlsberg - Danske Bank | 2.400 | 21 | | Maloja Mountain Nomads | 2.050 | 22 | | Sauber Petronas | 1.667 | 23 | | Dell - 361° Racing | 1.667 | 24 | | Alpina - Avianca | 0.737 | 25 | | ONCE-Eroski Cycling Team | 0.200 | - | | Euskaltel - Bavaria | - |
Just like in the "normal" ranking we are just inside the top ten again. Considering that this is higher than all predictions saw us and with special look at the fact that some saw us basically as one-rider-team Geschke did not raced yet so we might surprise some at the end of the season.
Here is a closer look at who scored points for us:
18 | Stoltz | Yannick | LUX | Evonik - Signal Iduna | 43 | 22 | Edmondson | Alexander | AUS | Evonik - Signal Iduna | 40 | 31 | Joeaar | Gert | EST | Evonik - Signal Iduna | 24 | 79 | Bauhaus | Phil | GER | Evonik - Signal Iduna | 5 | 80 | Bissinger | Florian | GER | Evonik - Signal Iduna | 5 | 125 | Vosekalns | Andris | LAT | Evonik - Signal Iduna | 1 | 126 | Teruel | Eloy | ESP | Evonik - Signal Iduna | 1 |
If you want to know where we scored this points: #4
A Big Thank You To All MG Reporters!

After The Tour of the Middle East was postphoned due to financial problems of the race organisateur it was a quite quiet time for our time but this will change completely for the next weeks. In March a total of 7 C2 and C2HC races are on 5 continents and we will race 6 of them. It is the month were the last two riders of our team will make their debut: Super talent Lasse Norman Hansen will start his season in Portugal while star rider Simon Geschke will race in two races this months.
Tour de San Luis
We come here with a bunch of jokers. Gert Joeaar should be able to get a good stage result in the time trial and this could be the foundation for a good GC result although the climb on stage 5 seems to be way to hard for him. Bissinger is allowed to attack often and Dupont could be a joker in the sprints although he is far from being a favourite for a podium.
Aim: Top 3 in TT, Top 5 on another stage.
Seskin Classic
Next up is the season opener for Geschke in The Sean Kelly Classic on Seskin Hill. Of course, his lieutenant Guillaume Boivin is his leadout man in case of a sprint as in every of his races but 3 one day classics. Bissinger and Vosekalns are important helpers but they are allowed to attack if they have good legs. Aim: Top 10.
Volta ao Algarve
This is one of the strongest lineups we will field all season long. Geschke really liked the profile of the first two stages with a hard profile and many bumps that should end in a mass sprint and also on stage 3 he could get some valuable points for the point jersey. If he gets enough bonus seconds on the first stages and if he will be in a small group with a big advantage on stage 3 then a decent GC result seems possible, too. But our main man for the GC is Gert Joeaar who is a great TTer and can go good over the hills.
Also in our team are powerhorses Lasse Norman Hansen and Yannick Stolz, Gschke's lieutenant Boivin, allrounder Saramotins and loanee Mager.
Aim: Stage Win, Top 5 GC.
Tour de Beauce
When most of our guys race in Algarve there is a second, quite similar race with a TT, hills and some sprinting possibilties. Since Geschke and Joeaar are in Portugal we decided to let Bissinger lead here. With a decent TT and decent hill stats he can be a dangerous rider if he decides to attack in the right spots. Teruel and Dupont are our duo for the sprints.
Aim: 2x BotD
Himmerland Rundt
We start here without every expectations and take every point we can get.
Perhaps Stoltz can surprise everyone with another good result after Great Ocean Road Classic and Benelux Challenge.
Aim: Score one point.
Tour d'Rwanda
This is not our best team but at least we want to see our riders on the attacks.
Aim: 2xBotD
A full calender for our team and the first more important races for our team. Geschke will start in Ireland and in Algarve. We are curious to see how he performs there as this will be a good indicator for what to come.
A Big Thank You To All MG Reporters!

Busy day for us. Short summary for our team:
- BotD: Mager
- GC Leader Joeaar lost due to crosswinds
- Fastest Sprinter: Dupont. But Aztecan Madness already too far ahead
--> 4th
Joeaar fucked it up yesterday so he is allowed to join the break today. And he fails again by getting dropped at an intermediate sprint.
Bissinger's attack later on the stage is another highlight of the stage but he was caught short before the line.
Vosekalns proves a huge fighting spirit after being in the break allday. He gets rewarded with #5 today and the shared lead in the mountain jersey.
Finally, Joeaar delivers. He finishs the TT on the podium. Well done.
He managed it again: Vosekalns got into the BotD and collected some more mountain points. He finishs the stage as 3rd.
Today it was Bissinger who got into the BotD for us. He managed to get 5th.
Dupont did not had the legs today to contest for the line honours in the sprint.
Fun fact: It is the sixth "normal" stage and on all previous stages we had a guy in the break so when we did not went for it this time a local hero named Piamonte decided to go in the break in our jersey. It is cool to have the first fans already!
Stage Results:
2x3th Joeaar, Vosekalns
1x4th Dupont
2x5th Vosekalns, Bissinger
1x6th Dupont
Point Classification Results:
7. Vosekalns
KoM Classification Results:
1. Vosekalns
7. Bissinger
U25 Classification Results:
6. Vosekalns
Spoiler For those who didnt noticed yet: In post #4 there is an overview of the team's results, points and PPRD (per race) updated after every race.
We could celebrate a lot of great results from some of our riders in San Luis and especially, we could celebrate our first professional win. It is only a KoM classification but we are sure that bigger wins will come soon.

Coming from a very active performance in San Luis which did not ended in a huge point outcome we aimed for some bigger points again. The Sean Kelly Classic came right and as everybody was expecting Simon Geschke to be one of the favourites we saw a way to surprise everyone with another race plan. Young talent Guillaume Boivin went into the early break and the other teams gave him some gap as they thought he would be there to free us from the work.
They did not expected him to become a big threat so early in his career so they gave him a bit too much of space to breath.
He was clearly the strongest in the break and got rid of the rest of the break when they could not help him anymore. He fought hard and defended his lead into the last descent but his power wasn't enough to stay there. Perhaps, it was a small tactical mistake of him to try to reach the finish alone instead of trusting his sprint but after all the work we are very happy with the 4th place.
Geschke only finished 23th. He had very bad luck as he had a puncture outside of the TV cameras shortly before the pace went really high and thus, he was positioned too far behind when the first important split occured.

When we came to Portugal we were still winless except a KoM classification win by Vosekalns in San Luis. We came here very optimisticly and had some big expectations:
Spoiler "I have the feeling that this could be a great race for Geschke who has a great lead out in boivin, saramotins and powerhorse Stoltz and as some kind of joker I have joeaar who can get a surprising GC result due to his good TT.."
We planned with a great leadout for him and hoped for a stage win but the international press wasn't as optimistic. However, we decided to work hard all day long to weaken our rivals. We liked to see Vontobel and Bank of Ireland helping us to even force a selection. The three teams of us completely controlled the early break so that we came to a mass sprint. Despite of some critical experts we managed to build the strongest leadout train. In fact it was even the only one.
After great efforts from Boivin and Saramotins Geschke could open his sprint from the front...
.. and could hold on to the first win of team's history.
And for the second stage the plan was the same one than on stage one: Pacing over the hills and get a strong leadout.
This worked so strong that some strong contenders like Duggan.
Again, we could control the break and build a leadout. This time Azteca built one, too and we all know how strong their leadouts can be!
However, they could not compete with our one as we crushed the competition once again!
Only Vontobel's Lang could follow Geschke when he started his rocket ..
.. but he had no chance to win this.
Unfortunately, the officials did not give any time gap. Not understandable if you asked me but they tend to make those mistakes those who followed the tale of Quintana in EPIC Giro will know).
This race was already going to be a highlight race for us but perhaps it could go even better? At least we decided to try it. One - and only one - team controled the peleton all day long: We.
But when the final hill came, we changed the strategy. Instead of keeping everyone together Geschke was told to follow the attacks.
Together with Moinard and Marentes they got a good gap. Only Mendes could bridge that gap
In the end, Mendes was the strongest but Geschke finished on the podium - again!
Spoiler https://www.dodaj.rs/f/3h/13U/3fvg1fSU/2014-05-31-111942-greens.jpg
A bit behind, Gert Joeaar could finish the stage with the biggest group. This meant that the situation fo our team was very interesting. Should the TT end up with very small time gaps then Geschke has a chance to defend a great GC position while huge differences would help Joeaar to get into the Top 10.
Eventually, Joeaar would finish this TT as 8th (13th in GC) and Geschke would end up 6th in GC. If the gap on the second stage would have been rated as such he would have finished inside the top 5.
But nevertheless, a fantastic race for us.
Media reactions:
Yeah, this race obviously doesn't suit Geschke Team Tom Tom
Congrats to Evonik. Geschke is a great rider for CT and even PCT. La Vie Clair
Congratulations Knockout! Luckily (for you and the rest of competition) Nordeus & Bole aren't here, so that makes it way easier. Team Nordeus
A good win for knockout nevertheless. Bonsucro
This came unexpected to me. Did not expect PCM to create a sprint train for a 76 sprinter as it used to ignore those completely in the last few races.
But it`s great to see he is already delivering and still has it Team Rothaus
He is such a beast. Great work by the whole team and a great leadout by Boivin and Saramotins. Evonik Fan Corner
Gratz to Geschke and Evonik! No doubt he's was the strongest again. Team Vontobel
Great race for Evonik and Geschke so far, congrats. Team Metinvest
Mendes deserved the stage win, but Geschke is really having a great race. UCI Boss
What a Tour of Algarve for him and Evonik! Race commentator
congrats! one more team to leave the club of non-winners in 2014. we are still in Metinvest Twitter Account
Stage Results:
2x1st Geschke
1x3th Geschke
1x7th Saramotins
2x8th Saramotins, Joeaar
GC Results:
6th Geschke
13th Joeaar
23rd Saramotins
Point Classification Results:
1. Geschke
Instead of writing another wall of text saying how great this race was for us I only want to say two stats:
143 Points (123 from Geschke) and 35,6 PPRD

@547984: I loved the reactions, too. Especially after the different opinion of Roturn (Seriously, if someone has a different opinion on race expectations in the future please share it!) it was very cool to see how this race turned out and the reactions of everyone.
And i agree with you the race was amazing for us.

Indeed. Two very nice races for us! Too bad that i have to say good bye to Boivin at the end of the season. He is a brilliant rider who is already a great leadout as proven in Algarve and he will develop into a very nice allround sprinter.
And i hope that Koch will do a similar performance for you soon!

The first big cobbled CT classic of the season took place in Belgium and all strong cobblers of the division were at the start line. Since it was a C2HC race the riders were extra motivated to aim for the raised amount of available points while also some teams from south american or spanish teams looked confused and even scared at their race profiles.
It ended in a great success for us as a mid-stage attempt by Saramotins got through and Dupont outsprinted the rest of the group of favourites for second.
More pictures in the gallery below
Spoiler
Evonik helped to control the BotD.
Saramotins attacked together with Sutherland at the Oude Kwaremont
Saramotins forces a selection in the front group.
He is by far the strongest one upfront and gets rid of everyone else
Dupont is attentive in the group of favourites and counters most attacks.
He can stay with them and prepares for the sprint..
..and makes it a 1-2
Reactions:
So the win goes to Evonik today as Saramotins is able to celebrate his solo ride early. Great result for him. And Dupont takes the lead behind. Can he make a 1-2 for Evonik? Yes! What a race for the team. Race commentator
Wow Evonik... PrivatBank - Nemiroff
Huge result for Evonik though. Congrats! Risa-Ergon
Gratz to Evonik, was a perfectly executed race by them! Team Vontobel
Gratz to Evonik! Azteca
Congratulations to Evonik on a Great 1-2 Eddie Stobart
Fuck you! Wes (9) - Cedric Lebris - fan
I stood right there where Saramotins attacked and cheered for him. What a great effort he did to achieve this win! Didi (62) - German Cycling Fan
