Johnnie feels ready, though he knows the competition will be hard. And he doesn't like those halfway mountains either..
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

Yay go Berg-Hansen! Good luck team Cool

Khieu is feeling good ahead of his first ever pro race. Maybe he could go in the break one of the days?

@Ollfardh: No reason to worry, the climbs are quite easy, so Johnnie should survive with ease.

@Shonak: Thanks, a good result is certainly possibleSmile

@nacho63: Armin could do well here indeed!

@Dippofix: Not sure, it depends on the pack as well. Plus, Khieu is important in the sprint train.

Report
It's here: our debute! De Groote is the 4th rider to set off today. His time is 8min44, provisional leader already.
i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag31/Selwink/PCM0308_zpse2468950.jpg

Coen Vermeltfoort takes a new provisional best time: 8min41.
i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag31/Selwink/PCM0309_zps2df6655a.jpg

Tom Zirbel is the first favorite to finish: 8min36 is the new time to beat.
i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag31/Selwink/PCM0310_zps31a5a6c0.jpg

Stefan Schumacher sets the provisional 2nd time: 8min39.
i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag31/Selwink/PCM0311_zpsd93db10b.jpg

Juan Jose Haedo limits the damage by riding a time of 8min51. This puts him in a great position for the overall.
i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag31/Selwink/PCM0312_zps007c9ffd.jpg

Our hope for the sprint Johnnie Flodder loses 24 seconds.
i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag31/Selwink/PCM0313_zps02dfe560.jpg

Dylan van Baarle loses just 1 second to Zirbel
i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag31/Selwink/PCM0314_zpsd0274d2c.jpg

Hugo Sabido becomes the new leader: 8min35
i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag31/Selwink/PCM0315_zps0f97c886.jpg

Ken Hanson loses 18 seconds
i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag31/Selwink/PCM0317_zpsab8ff790.jpg

Clancy takes the 2nd time, almost nothing behind Sabido
i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag31/Selwink/PCM0316_zpsc77fead7.jpg

Francisco Pacheco loses 2 seconds
i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag31/Selwink/PCM0318_zpsd80537f2.jpg

Riccardo Zoidl loses 6 seconds
i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag31/Selwink/PCM0319_zps310c57c9.jpg

Fred Rodriguez loses 17 seconds.
i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag31/Selwink/PCM0320_zpsa3b319ea.jpg

That means Sabido wins the prologue. De Groote gives us our first top-10 of the season already.

Khieu is happy about not finishing anywhere nere the bottom spots, he's really psyched up ahead of tomorrows road stage. Smile

Good top 10 already, though Rabo CT did better. Johnnie is determined to beat them tomorrow!

Great result for De Groote and the team. Silferberg in the top 25 is not bad either.

Not really a fan of the red on the profile image though. Not that it is really important. Wink

@mvhoogdalem: To be honest, I don't really like it either. It was just a little experiment which didn't turn out perfect. Won't happen again.

The weather
It's extremely cold today, only 3 degrees. It's very cloudy and rain is very likely to come later on today.

Race report
With 140kms to go Khieu Tet Khamphan is the first to place an attack.
i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag31/Selwink/Projob%20odfjell/PCM0321_zps48041025.jpg

He manages to get a lead of 2 minutes, as the pack, lead by Raleigh, Jelly Belly and Christina Watches is keeping the pace low.
i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag31/Selwink/Projob%20odfjell/PCM0322_zps43f3f8f5.jpg

With 131kms to go, there are finally some other escapees: Vereecken (An Post), Pöstlberger (Gourmetfein) and Hucker (Drapac).
i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag31/Selwink/Projob%20odfjell/PCM0323_zps56f823ec.jpg

The pack is trying to reel the trio in, as a break of 4 is too big for the riders. They easily succeed in that. However, when Vereecken is replaced with Dernies (Wallonie), the group is free to take a gap. However, at sprint 1, Khieu is still in front alone.
i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag31/Selwink/Projob%20odfjell/PCM0324_zps335c4d5a.jpg

With 111kms to go, the group of 4 is fully together.
i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag31/Selwink/Projob%20odfjell/PCM0325_zpsba70bc9b.jpg

Now the pack is letting the group go and the lead increases to over 2 minutes. At the KoM sprint it's Khieu who surprises the rest of the break.
i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag31/Selwink/Projob%20odfjell/PCM0326_zps917bdcc1.jpg

KoM sprint 2 is also for Khieu. This time Pöstlberger comes second.
i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag31/Selwink/Projob%20odfjell/PCM0327_zpscf49511d.jpg

KoM3 is a little more difficult for Khieu to win, but once again he does it.
i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag31/Selwink/Projob%20odfjell/PCM0328_zps6ec0a112.jpg
This means he will take the mountain jersey for tomorrow. A nice achievement for the team already.

The break is taking it easy, just as the pack. The gap slowly decreases on and on. But then trouble for Raleigh, the pacemaker of today: leader Graham Briggs punctures!
i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag31/Selwink/Projob%20odfjell/PCM0329_zps37e4e993.jpg

Although Briggs is brought back, the pace in the pack has been low for a little while, causing the gap to increase to 3 minutes with 40kms to go. While the break fights for the last KoM points, this time for Pöstlberger, the pace is increasing once again in the pack, this time thanks to Christina Watches.
i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag31/Selwink/Projob%20odfjell/PCM0330_zpsd0ffb778.jpg

With 20kms to go, the gap is just over a minute. With 12kms to go, it's over.
i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag31/Selwink/Projob%20odfjell/PCM0331_zps495a870a.jpg

With 5kms to go, we get some TV-time. Johnnie has a very strong lead-out train ahead of him, here lead by Roorda.
i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag31/Selwink/Projob%20odfjell/PCM0332_zps9d3f56e8.jpg

With 1.5kms to go, the other sprint trains have taken over. Brambilla takes an early lead.
i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag31/Selwink/Projob%20odfjell/PCM0333_zps25117598.jpg

At the finish, it's Havik who makes use of Brambilla perfectly to take a win! With a great end, Johnnie makes it to 4th. The finish came just too early. Today's no2 Pacheco takes over the GC lead.

Conclusion
:
A good job by the team today. Although a podium would have been very nice, 4th is very good already. The KoM jersey is great as well.

Banana for the KoM jersey for Khieu and Banana for a great fourth place for Johnnie. Great day for the team! Smile

Ollfardh
Good to have the mountain jersey already, let's hope the sprint train can time it better tomorrow!
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.
