Awesome to see Bookwalter in polka dots and on the attack. Don't expect him to hold it beyond the time trial, but perhaps it will inspire a stronger climber to go out and target points (Mai, Sprick, or even Pinot).

Sorry for the delay guys. I've had really bad headaches the last couple of days and just can't concentrate on writing. I hope I'll be feeling better tomorrow to write up the next stage.

Awesome to get the yellow jersey here but by the looks of it Pluchkin didn't get the best out the time trial seeing as he lost some 30 seconds on Brajkovic who one point worse than Pluchkin in this discipline, but for sure I'll take it.
He's been a consistent performer in this race and it's very much justified that he finally gets that yellow jersey!
Now for the holding on!

Pretty bad ride from Amador there, but at least he is sitting alright in the GC. We've been quiet for the first week but hopefully we'll come around.

Now the race is really on
I think it's good that my team hasn't the yellow jersey anymore as that means we don't have to do the work at the first mountain stage which is coming up next. Also this gives a bigger chance on Cobo doing something crazy (I would like that)
But I have to hope that Cunego can get the time on the mountains before the 43km pancake flat ITT.. I think (don't want to jinx it) that Cunego needs at least 2 minutes on Pluchkin and Madrazo. That will be very hard I think at this years Tour especially with Madrazo being a better climber.

that's a good stage result, kinda disappointed to be so far down on GC though. Next stage should make me feel a little bit better about the sitch.

Madrazo staying ahead of Tenorio was key, now to see how the three big guns match up in the mountains.

Fantastic ride by Coppel, it wasn't totally like I expected a win, but that was some serious crushing of opposition. Hopefully results will continue in this way for my tam, as nervousness should be away after this stage.

I really hope that my team will start going for breakaways, they got to understand that is the only way we could get a win here. Would be really great to see Ratiy go in a big breakaway on a mountain-stage

That's going to be an epic battle! Man-Game legend Cunego, best climber in the Man-Game Madrazo and then Pluchkin who should be able to climb every bit as well as Cunego, though I suspect that Cunego's huge complimentary stats is going to make him very difficult to beat. Also Andy Schleck is really not that far off the pace. Depending on how he does the next couple of mountain stages surely we have a fourway challenge.

Nice result from both Dees and Rolland. Too bad Bernaudeau wasn't here, but it looks as though he would have probably struggled a little bit to perform.
So far so good

What a first mountain stage even though we still had the classic PCM12 mountain AI fail. The Spanish Champ Gil represented us well in the breakaway and hopefully will try to get more KoM points later. And after the unlucky flat Abal fought to rejoin the lead group was incredible, didn't expect that at all. I was like "here we go again" but Abal proved me wrong.
Congrats to niconico, looks like Cunego isn't going to win another GT with ease. Plus Madrazo is just lurking in the background. Hopefully a great 3-way battle all the way to Paris.

Really good GC battles right now. I think Madrazo is going to pull a Purito.

Good racing and great reporting! Hopefully the next stage will be just as interesting, with some gaps forming between the best riders as well.
Augustyn is simply my hero in this race, he just can't do a hilly or mountain stage without attacking
Hopefully he'll be rewarded later on, though, I suspect he will need to get into an early breakaway if he's going to challenge for a historical first Tour stage win for us. |

This is turning out to be a real epic, Cunego, Pluchkin and the Santanders playing a tense battle out at the moment.
Cunego you could say did not smart, though he clearly has a lot of respect for Andy Schleck, not wanting to allow him time back.
Pleased to see Amael in break, it is all I can hope for and who knows he ,ay be able to eek out a top 25 finish and start to stack up the mountain points.
Beautiful reports in last two days, highly enjoyable tour once again

Hmm, I guess my riders are saving themselves, but for what is yet to see. Guerao won't be a threat on more than 2-3 stages, and Chris Anker Sørensen is my best placed rider in 93th. He should easily be around 20-30th. Also Rolland and Dees should be able to fight for top 50 atleast.
Hope they will atleast try to attack soon. A stage where they don't even try to get in the attack, and all just sit up and lose 21 minutes is no fun. Come on guys.

Faiers on an absolute mad one, bizarre tactics between him and Kohl but it worked out OK in the end. Great report, thanks Count. |
