Great news.
Can you add a link from realname database?
Not sure if that's allowed before the release day. If anyone wants it, you can PM me, though. But I guess it'll be uploaded on the site tomorrow anyway.
To everyone: Please don't spoil this story with database requests or questions about PCM 2013.

Thanks! The game seems really good.
However, the start will be delayed to tomorrow after all, but you'll understand why momentarily:
1. The first patch is to be released tomorrow, I won't start without that patch.
2. New download on PCM.Daily (on your right) is compatible with that first patch.
Last post as Ian Butler (had to say some things just now)
Patch 1 already installed, it seems. I have realname database, BMC shirt, some variants. I'll start the career in a moment, it'll take some time to plan, though. But I'll start racing later today, tomorrow morning at the latest!
It's coming close now. It has been confirmed by the team management: I will ride my first race in the Tour Med. Madiot thought about sending me to the Tour of Australia, but he decided it would be best not to start in a WT race, especially since I have little experience in a peloton. I have the big disadvantage that I never raced in a team before, usually I went training alone or rode in smaller amateur races. I will have to get used to the peloton, so a slow build-up is good for me.

My last post didn't come through, even when I edited. So another attempt! This time without strange characters, which seem to mess up the site momentarily. So it's Jean Remy for a moment.
First Race!

Swiss Media Coverage
Now that we're at the start of the season, someone from La Liberte, a French-speaking Swiss daily newspaper, came to see me. He asked a few questions and, guess what? I made the papers! The interview was much longer than what was published, but I realize that my name won't sell newspapers (yet!). A lot has been cut out, so sometimes it might seem an odd interview. I guess the length of these interviews will grow as my fame grows, let's hope so!
In the shadow of Koblet!
Switzerland has a new cycling talent entering the World Tour this year. Young Jean Remy will be a part of the French team FDJ. In the great tradition of Switzerland, Remy is a climber pur sang. Do we finally have our new Koblet? Has the time come for another Tour win for Switzerland? We talked to the young neopro.
So, Jean Remy. We knew your father as a cyclist, and he was pretty good. Are you the same type of rider?
Not exactly. My father has more power on the flat, he was a real time trial machine. I'm simply a climber, I guess. Why the choice to go race for FDJ? A man with your talents surely could have a place in the newly formed IAM Cycling Team? Or why not try at BMC?
My father used to ride with Marc Madiot, so that's how I got in. Well, of course I had to do several tests, first. What are your ambitions?
Well, firstly I want to make cycling transparent. The sport has gone through a lot lately, and I want to be part of the generation that will rebuild the trust in cycling. As for personal goals, as any Swiss rider, I dream of winning the Tour de Suisse one day. One final question, where will we see you this year?
Nothing big has been decided yet, but I might start in the Tour of Romandie and the Tour of Suisse. We will keep an eye out for you! Thanks for being here, Jean Remy!
FDJ Outfit
The sponsor rejected the white and blue outfit. So we'll start the season in our all-white outfit. It might be changed during the season, though.
Excellent news since the future Missus (Gina) and myself have finally set a wedding date! We had to take my racing schedule into account, of course. After we got into a little fight because she said racing is more important to me than our wedding, we decided on May 18, 2013! It's a Saturday. If everything goes right, that's between Rund Um Koln and Belgium Tour or Bayern Rundfarht.
Now starts the big planning, though. Tomorrow we go location hunting. We have a few addresses to check out: I will go by bike, leave early in the morning, she will follow by car! We'll make a day of it.
Geezar10 wrote:
Great read so far. Do you know if you will be able to go for a breakaway if your legs feel good for one stage of the Med yet?
I'm not sure what my task will be in that race. If I feel good and I'm allowed, I'll definitely try to go for a breakaway!

Yeah, posts didn't come through in its full state, I guess.
Just had that at an other thread as well, it's really annoying.
Tour Med sounds good
Thanks for noticing! I agree, Tour Med sounds like a good starter!

I just found this and read through it all. I can't wait for the racing to start.
Good luck Ian. Looks awesome already!
Thank you, I can't wait for the racing to start, either! Though who is this Ian? I'm Jean!

Have yoe ever thought about writing a book . I should read it !
Well, the time has come. Tomorrow is the start of the Tour Med. It's a French stage race, existing out of one sprinter's stage, one time trial and three hillier stages. It's also my first professional race.
Australian National Champion
The season kicked off, traditionally, with the Australian National Championships. It was a battle of young against old, where the old conquered. Michael Rogers will be wearing his National Jersey for 2013.
Santos Tour Down Under
All World Tour teams, including FDJ, have started their season in Australia, too. The Santos Tour Down Under is the first race on the WT calendar. FDJ sent a strong squad, hoping to score some points early in the season.

Retirement
Fédrigo announced he will retire after this year. He's part of our team and we hope to profit from his experience this season. I hope to learn a lot from him!
Well, that's it. Tomorrow it's up to me. I already heard Rodriguez will be there, which makes me kind of nervous!
The story is underway at last, looks like some great performances by the team at TDU, Strange final classification though! Was there a successful breakaway?
Best o' luck.
Edited by The Rider on 19-06-2013 18:35
A nice profile for my first race. It goes uphill a bit, but the peloton is expected to finish in one piece. The wind is blowing pretty hard today, though, so I should watch out for that.
Squad
Bouhanni is in excellent form! Since this is the only flat stage, we hope for a stage win!
Don't worry about those "Average" numbers, that's just a way of keeping track of our development from the DS, a new system he developed.
Goals
Team Orders: We're going for the win with Bouhanni. He needs to be protected as good as possible. We can also use someone in the breakaway.
Individual Orders: Jean, you can take it easy. It's your first race so we'll give you some time to get adjusted. Don't go into the attack straight away, save your energy for the coming days.
Race
For my first race, Gina went with me. She drove around during the race and tried to see me as much as possible. This is at the start, I was looking at my Heart Rate Monitor, constantly checking.
Veikkanen opened the war!
It was nothing like I expected. The peloton is a strange thing, really. I spent most of the day at the back, just to be on the safe side. One of these days I'm going to have to get into that pack, though.
Several teams were counting on their sprinters, so they chased the breakaway hard.
20 kilometers from the finish, we took a 90° turn, and suddenly we had the wind right in the side. I got surprised and got caught behind the peloton. Just where Gina was standing, I made an effort to catch up!
Van Hummel tried to surprise the other sprinters and managed to get quite a gap!
Bouhanni is not the kind of guy to give up easy. Just look at how deep he had to go to catch up! I can learn a lot from him!
Victory! Amazing! What a strong sprinter he is!

Review
I finished 149th, well inside the pack. Overall it was a good day. It was pretty hectic, though. When the DS said I could take it easy, I didn't know this was taking it easy. But I'm confident I'll learn fast. I hope to get used to the peloton as soon as possible. At least I'm feeling good.
This was the first win for FDJ of the season, hopefully one of many!
Tomorrow is a time trial. I hope I won't finish last...

The story is underway at last, looks like some great performances by the team at TDU, Strange final classification though! Was there a successful breakaway?
Yes, two times, even! It was a very warm Tour Down Under so the peloton didn't always feel like chasing too hard.

Good start Down Under for FDJ. Hope to see you soon in a race Jean
Hope this sufficed!

Great result for Roy, good luck in Tour Med!
