Today the wildcard selection got presented for La Flèche Wallonne as well as Amstel Gold Race. Despite their great results IAM Cycling did not get a wildcard for either races.
Better news came from Switzerland where the organizers from the tour de romandie presented their wildcard participants. Giovanni Sammali the tdr press manager said:"As a Swiss tour it was very important for us to support IAM Cycling. We are happy to give this young swiss team the oporturnity to present themselves during our tour. We wish them all the best and good luck!"
IAM Cycling also got a wildcard for Gent - Wevelgem where they can showcase their talent at their first World Tour race.
TROFEO LAIGUEGLIA
Right from the beginning there was several attemts to create a breakaway. At the end a breakaway with Aregger was successful and they gained over 6 minutes on the peloton. But with the last big climb the pace was too high for Aregger to follow.
With just 4 km th go the breakaway finally got caught. Elmiger who suffered from a fall earlier this day couldn't compete in the final fight for positions so it was once again up to Saramotins to bring back a good result for IAM. He couldn't quite compete with the best and finished as 13th.

1. Not the Tour de Suisse?
2. Nice result in Qatar
3. Blanco is not really a sponsor, Rabobank still pays them without sponsoring

1. I don't think that I will be able to win the TdS. It's another top priority race nonetheless, but I think I'll have better chances in the Romandie.
3. oops! |

Vuelta a Andalucía - Stage 1
Todays stage was a Time Trial prologue that was all flat.
IAM Cycling couldn't perform that well today, with Elmiger finishing as 20th. He's only lost 14 seconds on today's winner Boaro (TST), time that can be well made up in the comming days.

Vuelta a Andalucía - Stage 2
Todays stage was really steep and was demanding on the riders. Aregger went with a breakaway, but at the last big climb he had to let them go as he was rinding on an empty tank. Meanwhile the peloton tryed hard to catch the breakaway and quickly a lot of riders started falling behind. The best rider today was Txurruka (CJR) who clearly won the breakaway sprint.

Elmiger was done at the climb. Both bars were empty, but luckily he could stay in the group. So far Saramotins performed much better. Shame though... |

Vuelta a Andalucía - Stage 3
Todays stage was another miss for IAM Cycling. With both Elmiger and Saramotins currently in a bad form they yet again had to watch the sprint finish from afar.
Visconti (MOV) launched his attack 5 km to go. With nobody following him, he led the race up to just about 150 meters to the finish line where he got caught by Florencio (KAT).

With a bad form, there's not much you can do about it. Oh and by the way, the code for the Slovenian flag is SI not SL

Thanks for the info.
Well, they have a form of 82 & 83, still on the final 20-30 km they immediately go into red pulse and just waste their energy just staying in the group. I don't understand why, because the AI have about the same stats and about the same fitness... And they just ride by me with no problem at all.

Vuelta a Andalucía - Stage 4
The last stage. With the GC far from reach for IAM Cycling the team was eager to end this tour on a high note. A place in the top 10 should be doable.
However, currently the team seems to be in a low. With the best rider coming in as 45th this years Vuelta a Andalucía was a big disapointment for the team.

It's time to forget about this tour quickly and move on, looking onto the next chance to prove themselves.

La Drôme Classic
Another race, another luck. That was today's motto for IAM Cycling. And today it went much better than the last couple races. With a fast pace at the end of the stage an attack was unlikely. However, once Lagutin (VCD) launched his attack both Elmiger and Saramotins immediatly followed and created a tiny gap between them and the peloton. It wasn't enough to get them over the finish line, but certainly was a good start for the finishing sprint where Saramotins almost made it to the poduim. He finished as decent 4th. Elmiger, who's not a good sprinter at all, lost some places finishing at 11th. This result will certainly up the team morale and their confidence to compete with the best at the Omloop Het Nieuwsblad wo'll be the next race on the calendar.

Good results! Sad that Vuelta a Andalucia wasn't productive, but not awful.

Omloop Het Nieuwsblad
At 50 km to go the peloton got cut in half. Luckily Haussler, Elmiger, Ista and Saramotins were in the first group together with Boonen (OPQ) and Cancellara (RLT).
With just 20 km to go the field was completely bronke into pieces. With Cancellara (RLT) in the front and Haussler chasing just '45 behind. But the group with Haussler couldn't catch the leading group with Cancellara (RLT). Haussler barely finished in the top ten.
