Hesjedal should sit up and wait for the rest of the attack I think, no way he is going to be able to stay away with this size peloton still left.
He might or might not make it, but no way he should sit up. This is his chance.
Yeah I thought the other group had another 10" or so on the peloton, in which case being in that group would be better for him. Either way I don't see this working.

What a race by Rui Costa. He looks to be in great shape today. But man Hesjdal looks like he is gonna take this Liege-Bastogne-Liege. What a speedy attack. |

what the hell, we're close to have a 50+ pack getting to the finish unless someone does something right now |

Welcome to 21st century cycling.
It's the reason why we need short races with mountain finishes to have excitement.

20 " ? I'd say that's roughly what a top form leader could get on a second tier leader that's been escaped for 10 km on Saint-Nicolas. Now which leader has the legs to bridge such a gap ? |

Doubt it. He'll be caught on the climb

Whoot, Isso has an avatar
I'd like to see Hesjedal take this, but a nice, exciting finish on the final climb would be good as well.

Valverde. He is on tremendous form, has an amazing kick and hasn't put a foot wrong that I've seen today.

If it comes to a 50+ pack finish Philipp Gilbert will win. But I wouldn't count Ryder Hesjedal yet. |

No way.
Valverde, Gerrans, etc are all much faster.

i wonder who is back there that packs the biggest punch. maybe someone completely unexpected. that is, if the gap starts dropping, which it isn't |

Moreno, Valverde, Cunego, Gerrans Gilbert if he still has his 2011 kick would be faster than any of those, but I doubt it.
EDIT: I jinxed Moreno

What I meant it would be an attack from Gilbert.
And ouch for Daniel Moreno |

Here's Hesjedal being caught. Did well to resist almost until the top
