Well, that is a huge step towards the goal, but a Swift-Bewley 1-2 tomorrow can easily put Bennati in fourth, so it's important to take some seconds again.

Very nice effort by Trentin to move into the top 10. Sadly, he's not exactly a good time - trialist.

Nice report once again! Stage went quite bad for Puma as two riders they didn't want to get bonus seconds today, got 1-2. Will be hard to keep that Top 3, still possible though.
Boonen has this definitely won, as riders never crash in TT/Prologues, so the lead is pretty safe. Wonder how much Cancellera will gain, Top 5 might be possible, but I doubt it.

Wow, this was exactly what we was hoping for! A podium and some more bonus seconds for Lo Cicero before the prologue. Lo Cicero should be one of the stronger sprinters on that stage, so I really hope he could advance some places and maybe get the white jersey at the end aswell!

I inmediately thought of this post as well. Some bad luck there, as I can't find any reason why your team suddenly decided that it was more fun without a leadout train.

What a nice leadout by my guys! And especially Nepo and Howard will be both even better riders in the next season, I can't wait to see something like this in the future..
But Bewley waited too long for his move here.. once again. Congrats to Vesuvio, nice timing of his sprint by Swift.
TT will be really interesting, hopefully with a small luck Bewley can repeat his 2nd overall place from the last season. It would be an awesome result after that two really bad first stages in this race.

So Guerao just isn't good enough. No matter how early, how late, how well placed he is - He doesn't stand a chance. What a waste of time do be in this race...

Not sure how far up the standings the TT experts can move up in such a short TT. Those teams that gambled on bringing them will be pleased with the complete lack of any sort of time gaps.
As others have pointed out I took a gamble on bringing Cancellara here hoping for some sort of tough man selection. It didn't happen but I still have a desperation card to play with the TT. He could well crack the top 10 with a special performance. Posthuma, Kittel and Fiedler are here so I guess they will be the main opposition.
At this stage we have been short at Qatar, so anything other than a win on the final stage will be a disappointment.
The sprints by the way have been well documented, been very good to follow Kumazan.

My number one goal for the season is to be the most anonymous team in Qatar, I challenge anyone to get less riders mentioned than me.
Challenge accepted!
Ok, so mentions for riders between me, you and Kami are:
Bacardi 2
Santander 1
B&O 0
So you are in the lead at the moment, although I think I should get bonus points for getting 4 out of the 5 last riders on the stage.
So I still don't have any mentions, you guys have gone a bit since that post. You give up?
I give up yeah, Echarri got into the breaks, picked up bonus seconds, then lost time so his bonus seconds were useless, then kept going in the breaks.
It was literally the worst possible outcome.
Today was slightly better with Gallego Martin, but he still won't come in the top 50 overall.
On the plus side, I have the three worst riders to finish in the peloton each day. That's quite a difficult feat.

Although really poor performance in bunch sprint, I must be happy as overall win plus points classification are pretty much secured

Bit lame that neither Puma or Pokerstars made much effort in the sprint - especially Pokerstars who seemed to do the work bringing it back. Might be the curse of the leaders jersey - AI works to protect the lead then doesn't bother trying to set the sprinter up.
Puma no excuse though. |

Good that Ciolek can keep up to hang himself onto the Top 10. Also Top 10 at the Points classification but there is the short TT left.
A bit of disappointing ToQ for us, no breakaway partipiciation, no sprint train and almost no mention in the report but just Stauff, Vanaerderen and Croket falling back. And once Ciolek.

Well having three 79-80 sprinters was no success. Pinning all hope to Fiedler flying into and up the top 10 as far as he can now..

At https://i1150.photobucket.com/albums/o...60548a.jpg I thought that was it, but Swift turned it into a victory, great result! A stage win is only fair for the only team to build a leadout in all stages. Its interesting to see that the 4th rider changed quite a bit, and while Caethoven is never going to be the fastest final leadout, getting into a good position is half the battle won!
The race is a success already now, but could be topped off with 3rd in GC for Swift and still a chance of a Top 10 for Kittel

Mainly disappointed really. Missed out on the win here by a second or two. I can console myself though that I haven't gambled on too many prologues this year and at least I managed second place and a decent GC place with some pretty big time differences considering it was such a short TT.
The wind never blew either that I was hoping to make a bit more of a selection. Still better than a very anonymous season debut in China!

Too bad Posthuma missed out on the top 10. But 11th is a very good performance considering it's out best result in Qatar so far.

Welcome aboard!
Congratulations to Pokerstars on a brilliant win. The season opener for Boonen couldn't really be much better. If he continues like this in the pure sprints, he could very well score more points than last year, which would be quite an achievement.

Well, 4th obviously the best we could achieve after that massive fail yesterday. One single third place...
At least we get partial goal points, could've been way worse with echelons or a fall. Still, I considered this to be the easiest goal this season, and we definitely need to achieve some now.
Congratulations to Pokerstars, whose jersey we want to see behind us more often this season
And well done Armavia for a really good wildcard performance.
