That was so obvious that I didn't even put him on the list. Actually, the list is for 2nd place favorites, but I suppose you already knew that.

Uhm.
Sorry? Do you think so?
Take a look at the DB again. There's a certain Belgian who's better Pfft

Thor has a secret stat-boost due to the fact that he is Thor Hushovd Wink

Cobbles should be amazing.

Basically its MCS vs ING
Cancellara has amazing support, but Boonen also has great support. They are also both equally strong. Cancellara a better climber but Boonen a better sprinter.

Behind those two is TLI, with Flecha and Cancellara and strong support team.
Also there is Ballan of FWB, but he lacks the support of the others.

Then Red Bull is there with Terpstra as well just to get in the mix.

It's not a simple Boonen vs Cancellara by any stretch!

Don't forget LPU, we're not starting in Omloop, but we have a solid team for the rest of the cobbles season!
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

LPU comes off as a bit above average. Not close to the "Big 5" as i am now calling them.

@fcancellara
when you asked me, i was expecting more than a brief sentence on the top5 riders...

I can do the next 10 favorites on either Tuesday or Wednesday. if you want that, and also show favorites per race.

I just don't have that much free time anymore, otherwise that would already have been in the preview. See this as a teaser Pfft

It was a joke, rather than a suggestion or complaint.

Leave major things to the race reports.

Well, can see what you mean, but I think this database just has a few incorrect stats. We have Gilbert (won Omloop twice, podium Ronde twice), Devolder (won Ronde twice) and Roelandts (podium E3), but they all feel a bit underrated in the game. Luckily we still have Mitch Thompson Wink

Gilbert won Omloop in '06 and '08 (hardly recent) and podium RVV in '09 and '10 (again not the most recent)
Devolder won RVV in '08 and '09 (hardly recent)
Roedlandts podiumed E3 in '11

Hardly recent, or stand out results. And in 2011/2012 none of them showed anything really special on the cobbles.
Devolder is a has been, Roelandts ain't bad, and Gilbert is not a cobbles rider

I wouldn't write off Devolder just yet, give him one more season Wink
Gilbert, I think he can win cobbles races, if he wants to focus on them. If he does good in the Ardennes this year, I see him trying for Ronde and Roubaix again. In 2011, he was leading on the Bosberg as well iirc. But yeah, he was very bad in 2012. You do have a point they haven't shown anything recently, but then I ask, what has Hushovd shown the last few years? What has Flecha won recently?

Anyway, there's not really a point to discuss the stats here I think, we'll prove on the road that LPU has a spot amongst the top 5 Pfft

Hushovd and Flecha are much more consistent, and focus solely on cobbles. Gilbert has Ardenns, Devolders old and Roelandts isn't even a team leader

fcancellara
I calculated the scores by taking the average of the COB (2x), SP, HIL, STA and FL stats, divided by 85 * 10

Those six riders had the highest scores, if your rider was not on there it's bad luck for you Pfft

Rivalry in Italy

i1309.photobucket.com/albums/s635/Bikex/Reports/PCM0030_X_zpsebb754f1.jpg

SIENA - Today was the Strade Bianche in the Tuscany region in central Italy. We sent two of our leaders there, Fabian Cancellara and Filippo Pozzato, who were main favorites for the win. But, things didn't go as well as expected.

With 9 kms to go, Fabian attacked, together with Fastweb's Alessandro Ballan. The two managed to create quite a big gap, but then the peloton started chasing. And you know who led the chase?

Our very own Filippo Pozzato.

The two leaders rode like they were rivals, not teammates. Michael Albasini:

"Fabian and Filippo kept swearing at each other, so we [the rest of the team] insisted the guys to stop it and just work together. When they continued fighting, we simply refused to help them."

Neither Fabian nor Filippo wanted to give a reaction.

The fact that every rider of our team rode for himself today didn't really help us: in the end, the race was won by Pervyj's Enrico Gasparotto after a very late attack. In the sprint for second, TAP - Michelin's Ă“scar Freire just edged out Pippo. Spartacus became 8th, Albasini 15th.

We will send the team on a training camp to southern France to make sure friendships are restored. Fabian and Filippo will have to share a room, it is important that they will be able to cooperate in de Ronde and Paris - Roubaix.

Regards,

Thats what happens when you sign to out-right leaders together...
You best hope they sort if out before the real classics begin!

Amazing start in Switzerland!

What an amazing start of our home race! In the morning, Fabian told us he was feeling 'quite okay'. We knew what amazing talent he has, so we were expecting a podium finish, secretly hoping for a win. But wow! Fabian simply crushed the opposition by a stunning 34 seconds! That's 49,204 km/h average on the windy technical 7.9 km course, unbelievable! Especially if you consider that TAP - Michelin's Jakab Zoltan, who posted the second time of the day, averaged 46,909 km/h, what a difference!

Spartacus speeding to victory

However, Fabian's amazing performance somewhat overshadows Jakob's performance. Jakob is our main man for the general classification here, of course it would be amazing if he could reach the podium in our home tour, but a top 5 is more realistic considering the strong startlist. But, just like Fabian did, Jakob surprised everybody today. The home favorite was boosted by the cheering of the crowd, (and we must thank them, it is amazing to see so much Motorex - Credit Suisse fans along the route!) rode very good as well, he was on the hot seat for a long time and finished fourth! This is a great performance, and surely makes a podium finish in the general classification more realistic.

Jakob puts himself in great position for the general classification

The rest of the team also did a decent job. Marcel was feeling ill before the start, we were not sure if it was a good idea to let him ride, but he proved us wrong: a very decent 44th place. The other guys eased to the line today to save energy for the following stages; we've got a leaders jersey to defend!
