I bet you can get Hoffman. He's had an awful season so far, so Avin will be glad to get rid of him.
Nice to see regional focus, that brings a nice flavor to the game.
Thanks
I certainly hope so. However, earlier in the year Avin didn't seem keen on letting Hoffman go, but we'll see in the transfer season

Well, pretty good interview. Is that actually you in the picture?
Hoffman salary will go trough the roof next season, so Avin is going probably to have an heart attack when he sees his salary. |

Indeed, it's me in the flesh
I'm hoping I can get Hoffman for a good ol' 50k salary

Another nice update. Depending on who promotes, the situation could change but I we should have some big transfer battles.
Three of those riders are on my current shopping list, but that could change. Hopefully we don't clash too much. |

Yea, very likely. I think we should rather work together than work against each other though

Wonder who the new Sponsor will be. Definitely like the idea of an all-african Team.

I might release them later tonight, otherwise it'll only be later in the year Btw, it will most likely be a 'cluster' of smaller sponsors grouping together for one bigger 'project'.
ALL - Thanks everyone for posting. Really appreciate it. Makes the effort feel worthwhile

Hoffman you say?
I love your team, seriously my favourite one from the whole game. Great graphical layout and reports, cool african focus, friendly manager, MTN has it all.
About Hoffman, i also really had several heart attacks already, when thinking about his salary for next year, also he had some personal issues with manager. There is high possibility that he will enter the free agent market in the of season, but we will try to negotiate the new contract with him. But i warn you Aidan, he loks like greedy bastard and arrogant personality, no way he will sign for 50k.

Thanks Avin
It's funny because that sort of is Hoffman's personality IRL Hopefully I can pick him up for a decent salary on the free agent market. If his price is too high, then I'll have to get someone else. It will also be cool if he gets renewed for a decent salary and we could negotiate a deal
The problem I have is the following: the African market is very limited and there are a few teams with African focus. We're all going for the same guys and that means these riders go for ridiculous salaries. Also, most of the top Africans have been taken up by bigger teams (Jaguar, Vesuvio, Metinvest, Aker, Venchi, Simply, etc) and most of these guys are reluctant to let riders go. I'll have to organise some serious deals with other managers to get my hands on a decent riders.
You know, it's easier and in most cases cheaper to sign a European or South American rider with (for example) 77+MO or HIL.

With talks of the 2014 season commencing, the African team has silenced any doubts of the team's continuity for next year. This morning, the team revealed exactly what the "special project" for next year will be, as well as the sponsors of the project. With it financial duties solved, Aidan vN now says that management can focus on recruiting priorities for next season.

Sram has renewed its sponsorship of the team for 2014. The American company is very committed to help develop cycling on the African continent and sponsor various other projects, such as the World Bicycle Relief.

Really like the new sponsors, seems like a good mix.
Also it would be really awesome if one day you could reach the WT with an All-African team.

I really enjoy your new image, but with a million minor sponsors and a dozen main sponsors, the only thing I am afraid of, it's what your team name will turn out to be?
Bonitas World Bicycle Relief Powered by Great Lakes Energy and Mr Price Sport doesn't sound like music to my ears
EDIT: I hope I misunderstood and that your team name is The African Cycling Project? Right?

- @ANFreeman: Thanks for the kind words. The jersey will be in the next post
- @Dippofix: Nice to see you posting in the MG HQ threads. Appreciate the comments. Would be nice seeing you in MG next season - as long as you promise to stay active
Reaching PCT is first priority, then getting a wildcard for a GT and riding it with a fully African team. At least that's the plan
- @Bjartne: I was thinking more something in the likes of:
Mr Price Sport - Great Lakes Enery - Bonitas - World Bicycle Relief presented by Sram and Trek (Real name will be in the next post )

Name and Jersey Unveiled for 2014
MTN - WBR has unveiled the jersey it plans on sporting in the 2014 MG season. The team wishes to be known as "The African Cycling Project" for 2014, after it was announced that the team has a long-term objective of fielding the first fully African team in a grand tour. It comes as no surprise as an African silhouette is featured on the jersey, complementing the teams refined focus on the continent for 2014. The team jersey also feature logos of 2 different non-profit foundations. Also present are the colour stripes of the South African flag on the chest, rear pockets and on the back of the shorts.
Click to enlarge Some logos you might not recognise:
| The official logo of the team for 2014. Not a brand or company on its own, but rather the amalgamation of the different team sponsors. [Fictional] | | (Right shirt sleeve) The logo of the initiative started by Pedal Power SA that promotes the campaign to put laws in place that require motorists to keep a 1,5m distance between the car and a cyclist. | | (Rear shirt pocket) Logo of the Burry Stander Foundation. Tragic story, read more here. | | (Left shirt and shorts sleeve)Different variation of the logo above with the official #IRideForBurry hastag, but same foundation as above. Please sign the real-life petition here | | (Rear pocket) The logo of the company that manages the team. Headed by AidanVN13. [Fictional] |
