Me neither. Especially when "Pologne" is French for Poland, but definitely not Polish for it (not that I have any Polish knowledge Pfft ).

Exactly.

I think it's hilarious that they tried to give the race an air of grandeur and finesse (to use french words Pfft) by giving it a french name, yet even the french don't give a crap about it Grin

Deadpool wrote:Hey, the purpose of this forum isn't just to post links to every article that pops up on cyclingnews. Practically all of us spend a lot of time around the web reading the latest on stuff. The point of the forum is that someone posts big news when it happens (partly to make the forum a one stop shopping location, and also partly to allow non-English language news to travel around), mainly so that a conversation can come out of it. Posting a headline and a link about a Lemond interview doesn't do that.

Not trying to come down hard or anything, you certainly aren't breaking any rules, but it's all the posts I've seen from you in here, and I'm wondering if you're missing the point. The Lemond story is certainly of interest, but you'd be much better off summarizing what he says to try and kick off a conversation than just posting a link.

I appreciate the fact that you are looking out for the quality of the forum and in particular the news topics but I respectfully disagree with you. As a person who reads a lot but doesn't post, I find links like the one in question interesting because they aren't that big news, but background instead. I am not a huge cycling enthusiast, but I get my main cycling news from the newspaper and teletext. I come here for the latest non-mainstream rumours, details and background stories like these.

I do agree though that a short summary with a link is always nice. At least a mention of the topic of the link, which he did fine.

For the record though, what could really improve this particular subforum in my honest opinion is less talk about Team Sky. I know this is an English-speaking website, but the reason I go here is for international cycling news. All this Sky-talk gets on my nerves sometimes.

The Giro once ended at the top of the Stelvio.
With the two contenders seconds apart on GC and trying to drop each other.

Epic.

Surely not. If there is a single edition where you don't mess with tradition it is a centenary, which is all about creating a link with the historic past of the race. Innovation has a part to play to make these 'special' years memorable, but tradition is ultimately the point of them.

I posted this a page or two ago, only to be told it actually has it's own thread. 2013 Tour de France route...

That would be good. The Alpe circuit is a bit harder than the Champs-Élysées one. Pfft

So apparently the budget for the new IAM team is 8 million, which is fairly large if I'm not mistaken. If they can secure a co-sponsor then they aim to be WorldTour in 2014.

Low to average for WT (AG2R has the same budget), high for PCT. Just to give some context though, Sky, BMC, and Katusha are all in the 16-20 million range.

Wait, Roger de Vlaeminck finished fourth that year? Must've been a weak field or a flat course.

Bertolgio won, Galdos 2nd, and Gimondi well back in third. I'm going with weak field. The guys in 5th and 8th don't even have wikipedia pages.
