Seems people have been less selfcentered this time around, still some of the selections wonder me a bit. That a guy like Tim Dees isn't selected for the TTT is a big questionsmark for me, looking at the profile. Well overall some people made HUGE mistakes selecting good TT'ers with shitty hilly stats imo.
A rider like Pozzato and perhaps Ballan would imo be a much better bet for the Italy squad than those semipoor TT'ers who might end up in 30th place if lucky. Why not go for, a stat that actually is good enough to make difference, when the competition is a random 75-74 TT guy without a chance to cope with a speedbump, when looking at that profile? I don't get it.
Also, the spanish RR team looks quite bad considering, what could have been selected. I don't really care though, as none of them will win, but why not pick the guys with the highest possible endurance and a good stat like hill/mo or flat to make them attack? That is the only chance anyone from that nation has to win the race...
Oh well, much much better than last year, but still some childlike selections here and there.

I don't get how you can make childlike or self centred selection in such a nomination way as especially the traditional countries had a lot of nominators..

Childlike wasnt a referrance to people selecting their own riders, but people selecting poorly.

Eh well, people hav to do the same for their own teams, it's not like they're not trying. Not everyone is good enough/has enough experience of the game to finish 4th in PT. |

ember and I's epic battle over who was the 3rd best Norwegian ended with the judge ruling in his favour. Ah well, I have Vassdal and Lemoine in the TTT, but I wish I'd nominated Clancy and Page. |

I would say it's an indictment of our education system but it isn't really. You communicated your idea - that's the point of language. |

Glad to see a few of my riders made squads, even tough I was being a little bit childish. But then again Maksimov didn't make the Russia RR squad so it all worked out.

Happy to have 3 in the RR and TTT and Strgar in the ITT. I think that speak volumes about Slovenia's chances though.
Great work Count.

None of my riders made a roster. I had hoped but realistically my only real hope was for a selection the Cuban RR team whose invitation was retracted.
A special congrats to the D2 teams who had riders selected.
I still have a slim hope that one of my two U23's will get a nod;
Maher Hasanoui (Tunusia)
David Talbot (USA)
Great job Count and a special thanks for keeping me in the loop, I really appreciated that.

Neither do I
What I meant to say was that IT IS BECOMING BETTER! That I find some small details doesn't mean i'm pissed. It was meant to be in a positive tone, that people in general has been looking more to the best possible riders for the course, rather than looking at their own riders primarily, like it has been the case previously.

The RR goes to a cobbler - even with a small amount of cobbles no other rider stands a chance due to the way the game works when cobbles are included. Spain shouldn't even bother sending a squad in my opinion - I put forward the best cobblers they had.
The TT goes up the Muur once. My guess is it will be categorized as flat. Though again, it doesn't really matter who most teams send to it as only one of about 5 riders has any chance of winning it. I'd go for TT over hills here. |
