Mountains and the peloton

I have come up with a theory:

The game is ruined. What the fuck have Cyanide done? I protected this game, because I found it really fun, up until this latest patch. But now, I am getting no enjoyment out of the game.

I told ya! Pfft
It is really shame that this can happen year after year. Hopefully they will get it right in the next patch and dont broke the functional things, but it is hard to believe in it...
I'll be back

If you control the peleton a good while before mountain with hard relaying and give ur opponents sour legs then you will see good difference in mountains. But you are right there is too easy for most riders to follow in mountain stages. I personally think the maintain position is too easy and require just the same effort in the mountain as on a flat stage.

Another thing have you heared the commentator saying its a flat stage and its hilly and lots of mountain? That happens all the time.!!!

So, first I was a little bit concerned by the mountain AI. But today I got the game, and ran emmea's TDF variant's Briancon-Alp D'Huez stage.
2xAlpe D'Huez
1x Galibier, Télegraphe and Col de la Croix

DB: Official release(realname)
Patch:1.3.00
Difficulty: normal (playing as Lotto)
Single stage mode

The pace was slow through the Galibier, but the Col de la Croix made some serious selection. The 1st Alpe was also pretty hard and only ca.20 people started the 2nd climb together. F.Schleck initiated a high pace, and dropped the group members to around 10. Then Contador and A.Schleck dropped VDB, Nibali and Sanchez along with Gadret. After the high pace only Andy, Conta, Froome and Frank stayed there. Andy won the sprint, and it was all pretty realistic, although the gaps were big. I'd say that's because of the hardness of the stage.

Summary: I was surprised, but the AI was very decent. Everything was in order, so I'm quite happy with the game atm.

The AI indeed seems to be good with the new patch 1.3.0.0.

Just made two tests. First with the official release and second with the PCM Daily DB.
I played the same stage with the same tactic. Had NetApp in the Giro to see how the AI reacts on on their own.

Played stage: 06.live-radsport.ch/thumb_uc_191418_506_Hoehenprofil_Giro_dItalia_2012_-_Etappe_19.jpg

So in both races lots of selections. In the Cyanide DB maybe a bit more but the AI was good in both cases I think.
Results very similar. Only the groups from the 20th are bigger with PCM Daily.

Roman
That sounds great, so hopefully Cyanide made some AI improvoments.. Grin

So it seems the AI is back to normal - great! Smile

Looking forward to trying it out myself.

That sounds really nice, if this is true than it's actually really fun to play.
I will try it later today.

Does the difference between career mode AI and stage race AI still exist?

What the hell, I played the Tour stage to La Toussuire and I have the same old problem: too much riders in the same group at the last climb.
Hopefully it's better in career mode otherwise I think I'm going to play PCM 2011 again. Sad

Check if you have passive AI in multiplayers activated

It was activated. Must I turn it off?

I'm not alone is this, unfortunately

I turned it off and played the stage again and there was still a big(ger) group at the finish. I don't know what I have to do to fix it (if it's even possible).

In older PCM`s the multiplayer passive AI was also for singleplayer for some reason.

So I guess it might be the same for PCM12. I always deactivate it to have active AI in all race modes.

What DB are you playing?

PCM rulezz
I have tried with 2 databases: PCM daily and RSM database. Both are messed up. I'm currently re-installing PCM 2011. But thanks for the help anyway.
I'm sick of PCM 2012

Are you just playing Single Race? Its better in Career Mode.

PCM rulezz
A played a single races. Are the results from Roturn also single race or career?

I played single race. I never had such weird mountain bugs.
The AI is actually very good for me.

Miguel98
So far, i've played a TdF and didn't find any bugs in terms of mountain stages. Altough I find quite insteresting that all the sprinters came in the same group in the medium-mountain stages. For example, Freire: 77 HIL, lost 20 minutes on the 1st stage of the Tour. Same for the others sprinters, except for Sagan who was in my team.
