Welcome to the last stage in Mallorca, Spain. The last 4 days were quite interesting with a nice stage win for our team but we´re not that good in the overall standings. Van Garderen wasn´t in his best shape so far but the Spanish domination is really crazy here.

The favourites:

+++ Sanchez, Nieve, Lastras
++ Bruseghin, Arroyo, Galdos
+ Gutierrez, Txurruka, De Waele

i908.photobucket.com/albums/ac288/FedExpress/HTC-HIGHROAD%202011/PCM0014-2.jpg
Today´s stage was quite boring as there was no attack in the leading group after the hardest climbs of this stage. Van Garderen had another terrible day, loosing almost 6 minutes to the Spanish riders.

i908.photobucket.com/albums/ac288/FedExpress/HTC-HIGHROAD%202011/PCM0015-3.jpg
On the last downhill with 3 kilometres to go, it was Lastras who was in front in the sprint. It looked like an easy stage win for him but his rivals came fast from behind.

i908.photobucket.com/albums/ac288/FedExpress/HTC-HIGHROAD%202011/PCM0016-1.jpg
But they were just too late. Great stage win for Movistar again but the overall win goes to Nieve from Euskatel. Van Garderen finished 12th in the overall.

After two really disappointing stages for our team, we want to get back today. As always in Qatar, the stages are completely flat so me might expect the next mass sprint. The strongest sprinter out there is probably Ventoso at the moment. If Cavendish gets a nice sprint preperation he might be better.

The favourites:

+++ Ventoso, Cavendish, Davis
++ Pozzato, Galimzyanov, Kittel
+ Degenkolb, Van Hummel, Sagan

i908.photobucket.com/albums/ac288/FedExpress/HTC-HIGHROAD%202011/PCM0020-2.jpg
It wasn´t an exciting stage until the sprint trains were built in the final kilometres. As everyday Astana had by far the best sprint preperation for Allan Davis. Pozzato and Ventoso took their slipstream while our team created a weak sprint train with Brammeier in front. We lost many metres to the leading train.

i908.photobucket.com/albums/ac288/FedExpress/HTC-HIGHROAD%202011/PCM0021-3.jpg
When the sprint began, we were far behind Davis, Pozzato and Ventoso. Cavendish´s acceleration wasn´t really good today, too. We had no chance to sprint for at least a podium.

i908.photobucket.com/albums/ac288/FedExpress/HTC-HIGHROAD%202011/PCM0022-1.jpg
As we´ve expected, Ventoso was the strongest in the end. Förster and surprisingly Ljungblad finished behind him while Cavendish only got the th position today. Another bad day for HTC in the desert. Tomorrow is the last chance to finish this Tour with a nice result.

not unless you attack with another rider :\

You´re right yellow is almost impossible but at least another podium would be a nice result to finish with this Tour.

@rorzcp, of course you can always win a Tour out of a successful breakaway but there wasn´t any group these days with a big chance. The pack with all those sprinter teams is just too strong.

Fortunately it´s the last stage in Qatar today as the last days were not full of success for our team squad. This is also the last chance for Cavendish to show, that he´s the strongest sprinter not only in the pack but also of the whole world.

The favourites:

+++ Ventoso, Davis, Cavendish
++ Sagan, Pozzato, Kittel
+ Förster, Van Hummel, Galimzyanov

What a wonderful view is this? There it is the long desired HTC sprint train! Just next to us was Astana with Allan Davis who had some good days in the desert. Danny Pate was leading our train with Brammeier and Degenkolb following him. Cavendish in a great position so far but the overall leader Ventoso took his wheel.

i908.photobucket.com/albums/ac288/FedExpress/HTC-HIGHROAD%202011/PCM0025-2.jpg
Unfortunately we lost some speed in the end with Brammeier against Astana but Degenkolb tried everything to bring Cav to the front.

i908.photobucket.com/albums/ac288/FedExpress/HTC-HIGHROAD%202011/PCM0026-2.jpg
As you can see John Degenkolb made his best job so far this season! Cavendish was in an amazing position in the final 800 metres. Allan Davis was leading the stage with Van Hummel next to him coming really fast.

i908.photobucket.com/albums/ac288/FedExpress/HTC-HIGHROAD%202011/PCM0027-1.jpg
We finally made it in a very close sprint! Cavendish celebrates his second stage win here in Qatar in front of Van Hummel and Davis. Pity, we lost the overall with 6 seconds to Ventoso and the points classifications because of 3 points but we´re still happy with this last stage.

i984.photobucket.com/albums/ae328/JJagr/flags/OMA.png TOUR OF OMAN

i908.photobucket.com/albums/ac288/FedExpress/HTC-HIGHROAD%202011/press338_1.jpg

Welcome to the second stage race in the desert this month. After some bad days in Qatar and of course some better days with two stage wins by Cavendish just like the 2nd overall position, we´re going to continue like that, at least we hope so. I think the Tour of Oman is a pretty interesting race with 4 flat stage, one mountain arrival and a nice time trial. It´s for sure that a climber or good stage racer is going to win the Tour of Oman 2011.

Because of that, we decided to sent a mixed team squad with Siutsou as team leader. As the final climb on stage 4 isn´t that long we´re still hoping, that Lars Ytting Bak will be able to support his captain as good as possible there, as he´s the best climber next to Siutsou. The rest of our team is specialized on the mass sprints. Mark Renshaw is going to lead the team with Eisel, Grabsch and Bak as main support.
Mark´s shape isn´t that good so far but our sprint preperation might be one of the best, if not the best of all teams with Grabsch and Bak at the front. Anyway the competition will be indeed very strong with especially two old friends from Qatar. We´re talking about Allan Davis and Ventoso. But also the 2010 World Champion Thor Hushovd is going to face us there. The overall favourites might be Tiralongo, Vande Velde, Lastras, Bruseghin, Siutsou and Tom Danielson. So you can see the overall competition isn´t that strong. Our team captain is already in an acceptable form so far.

The favourites:

+++ Vande Velde, Bruseghin, Lastras
++ Siutsou, Tiralongo, Danielson
+ Gutierrez, Moreno, Ardila

The first stage is quite flat with a short uphill in the middle but we don´t care about that. Our goal for today must be to improve Mark Renshaw´s shape. I´m sure he won´t be able to keep it up with Davis or Ventoso as they´re still on fire after the last race in Qatar.

The favourites:

+++ Davis, Ventoso, Hushovd
++ Renshaw, Casper, Galdos
+ Eisel, Modolo, Traksel

i908.photobucket.com/albums/ac288/FedExpress/HTC-HIGHROAD%202011/PCM0004-6.jpg
We had no problems with our sprint train today. Bert Grabsch made a good job at the front just like Lars Ytting Bak. Ventoso and Davis were just too clever, as they´re taking Renshaw´s wheel.

i908.photobucket.com/albums/ac288/FedExpress/HTC-HIGHROAD%202011/PCM0006-5.jpg
Last kilometre was reached by the pack and finally Bernie Eisel was leading out his sprint captain Mark Renshaw. Ventoso went out of our slipstream with Allan Davis following him. Hushovd was still waiting behind us.

i908.photobucket.com/albums/ac288/FedExpress/HTC-HIGHROAD%202011/PCM0007-4.jpg
It was just amazing how fast Davis and Ventoso were on the last metres. Renshaw had no chance and he even got some problems, passing his own leadout man Eisel. No chance for us today as his shape is pretty weak. Maybe we should think about to change their roles for tomorrow.

Allan Davis is celebrating another stage win in front of Ventoso and Hushovd. Eisel finished on the 5th position in front of Renshaw.

Another day for the sprinters today. We´re not that happy with our start yesterday but we have to accept the strength of Davis and Ventoso. They´re just in an amazing shape these days. As Mark Renshaw isn´t in his best shape so far, we decided to prepare today´s mass sprint for Bernie Eisel.

The favourites:

+++ Davis, Ventoso, Hushovd
++ Eisel, Casper, Veelers
+ Traksel, Renshaw, Modolo

i908.photobucket.com/albums/ac288/FedExpress/HTC-HIGHROAD%202011/PCM0010-3.jpg
Everything worked perfectly for our team today after the breakaway was brought back with 15 kilometres to go. Grabsch and Bak were in front while Renshaw tried to leadout Eisel. On the left side came Garmin with Hushovd really fast. But also Davis and Ventoso were in position.

i908.photobucket.com/albums/ac288/FedExpress/HTC-HIGHROAD%202011/PCM0011-4.jpg
We couldn´t believe our eyes when the sprint started. Hushovd was just flying away from the rest of the pack. Renshaw wasn´t fast enough for Eisel so we had no chance today.

i908.photobucket.com/albums/ac288/FedExpress/HTC-HIGHROAD%202011/PCM0012-4.jpg
An easy stage win for the World Champion Thor Hushovd. That was just absolutely impressive by the Garmin captain.

i908.photobucket.com/albums/ac288/FedExpress/HTC-HIGHROAD%202011/PCM0013-4.jpg
Second place goes to Ventoso in front of Allan Davis. Eisel managed to get another Top 5 which is not that bad for us. Renshaw´s shape is just too bad for winning a stage there.
