This is a dream break for Moncoutie. He will tear them apart on Aubisque |

@ Isaichev is working hard for the red lantern. Already not able to follow!!!
That suspicious performance might cost him to not see Paris.
It's a short stage, so the tim limit will be relatively short. If he's dropped on the flat he'll lose lots of time even before the real mountains start. Could be lethal.
I still have faith in Jérôme.
Isaichev out. Everyone working for Jerome today. |

I wouldn't count on it. Gusev was 23rd yesterday, 5 places better than Moncoutie. Fofonov, Tjallingi, Pineau and Bak are not bad climbers either.

I think Pineau will be tough to shake... And the sprinters will catch up on the downhill if he haven't got like 4 mins on the top.

Gusev used to be a good climber too back when he was in Discovery but as i far i'm concerned he wasn't clean so was Fofonov. Tjalingii and Bak immense time-trialists may have a chance on descents (Paris-Roubaix dejavu btw.) Pineau a fighter but it might be too steep for him today. Moncoutie is clearly the best climber here. Gusev Bak and Tjalingii and Thor? may join on the descent. |

Fact is indeed that Moncoutié would have good chances to stand on the final podium in Paris, wearing the green jersey alongside Vincent Jérôme in the yellow jersey.
edit : he can't sprint, but he's crap at downhilling too, so it might not be his day, unless he attacks from far enough, although the Aubisque descent in non-existant, and the Soulor one not that technical either (I've done both).

Van den Broeck and Vanendert are fairly easy to look apart IMO. Both in riding style and appearance

Interesting to see that the time gap isn't really increasing any more. I think they'll need more then the 4'20" they have right now if they want the break to succeed. |

I am serious. But thats perhaps because I am a little bit of an Omega Pharma fan
Vanenderts face is very easy to spot and has a tendency to ride standing more than Van den Broeck. |

As a side note (twitter from yesterday):
JohanBruyneel And here's a first... Got pulled over IN the race today by a gendarme and he made me do an alcohol test, duriing the race... #vivelafrance
JohanBruyneel For the record: the alcohol test was... Negative!

He is 'excused' from working with Hushovd and Petacchi there. As he would help them get points on Cavendish.
