Nice job from VDB there, an excellent burst of speed to finally break the elastic.
As a side note: Am I the only one who finally had enough of the Eurosport commentary when they started talking about EBH as an even outside chance for the Tour de France overall?
to be fair though, EBH probably has a better chance then Wiggins at winning. It looks like Wiggo has only got one climbing speed and as soon as the favourites go he just goes backwards.
Wait .. youre saying EBH has a better chance of winning the TDF than Wiggins?
I dont think Wiggins has much chance at all of winning, if any, but please, whatever chance he has, is more than EBH.
you obviously don't understand tongue in cheek humour.
i'm just saying Wiggins has got no chance at all. |

I wonder if the performance component will now jump VDB to a 9

Like isso sayed: it was also lesson for superman Lance..rivals never came that close at the tour after he's Dauphine win. |

My bet for tomorrow is Degenkolb. The final fits him perfectly and he seems to be in good shape too.

True, but it's a shame. A race as the Dauphiné should be targeted by the big boys, and not used just as a training ride. It's not like we're talking about the Vuelta a Burgos.
Or the Tour of California.

No need to run..Cycling has changed a lot ..even inside my short following period. When I started to watch cycling boys like Ulle and Leipheimer , Mayo giving 100% to win Suisse or Dauphine tour. Yeaah they also prepeared for tour same time.
But now it is just training race.
Vino and Evans are just few leaders who are actualy riding..(because they both does not have a chanche at the tour).
Gesink, Martin, Taaramae, Leon Sanchez etc. are tourists this time. It looks almost riddiculous.
Sometimes I realy miss Merckx time. Every race was race..even small one.
Now we waiting a hole year to see Andy Schleck riding fast..what is this new century?

News on Taaramäe. He had mechanical problems (handlebar came loose) but that didn't affect his performance. He just had some strange allergy problems that he had last year but never managed to figure out why. He said he couldn't breathe properly and almost no air came through the nose.
And while I'm talking about him, he told that his 3 week altitude training camp doesn't seem to have given much result. He only improved his iron depository but hemoglobin stayed almost same.

I thought you were the guy who was so convinced a couple of years ago that all it takes for sprinters to become climbers is a bit of training. Just checking that idea wasnt back
Also, funny how so often people will use no emotes in their post. Then when questioned, suddenly their initial post was some form of humour!

Evans is actually going for the win at the Tour. His whole season is built towards it. He just seems incapable of not racing flat out when he enters a race, which is great

there is training, and there is finishing behind Danny Pate and Juan Antonio Flecha in a medium mountain stage.

Yes, Carlton Kirby is a lovely man, but his commentary leaves a lot to be desired sometimes. How on earth he thinks EBH is a contender for the TdF I do not know. He regularly makes these mistakes. The main Eurosport cycling commentator, David Harmon, a fantastic though - very knowledgeable, very professional and often very insightful.
Yeah I love David Harmon's commentary. This will be the first year I'll be watching the Tour de France on Eurosport instead of watching SBS (with Liggett and Sherwan), assumig that he does the coverage of it. Sometimes the obssession with Team Sky is just iritating, particularly when reading out the Twitter feed...

According to biciciclismo's live ticker, the breakaway in today's stage is composed by:
Jurgen Van de Walle (Omega Pharma-Lotto), Maarten (Tjallingii) y Brice Feillu (Vacansoleil).
