France is tipped to do well. It's quite popular amongst the Eurovision geeks so

Well, I have the album, and as iTunes knows how often I listen to songs, here is my top few:
Da Da Dam - Finland 7
Taken by a stranger - Germany 5
New Tomorrow - Denmark - 4
I can - United Kingdom - 4
Madness of Love - Italy - 4
Popular - Sweden - 3
Change - Romania - 3
Spain - 3
Rockefeller Street - Estonia - 3
In love for a while - Switzerland - 3
So there are my listening habits, not a prediction but...

It's opera. No chance it's going to win, but as SN said, the jurys will probably make sure that it gets some points. |

Luckilly for us right after the contest we'll find out jury votes.
Always fun to read as the viewers of semi-finals only vote for 9 entries, 1 is put through by the Jury alone.
I like France's song, but opera isn't really my thing. It's different and sometimes people vote for different, I think that is the thinking behind the entry.

My prediction for the top 5 is this...
1) Russia
2) Germany
3) France
4) UK
5) Azerbaijan
I may be wrong (I usually am), but it seems to me like the voting will be extremely close because there is no stand-out favourite like the last few years. And with the voting so tight, Russia's neighbour votes will probably pay dividends, plus they also have a catchy song. The fact that it has very creepy pervy lyrics may not matter. Hungary could be up there, but it really depends on how it is sung. If it's horribly out of tune like in the semi-final, it will suffer. Or should suffer.
EDIT I forgot Sweden. Just goes to show, lots of favourites but not an overwhelming one.

When you use rebuttals like that, perhaps you have bigger issues than not liking the Eurovision.

Eurovision songs have broken into the charts in the past, Lena's winning song last year got number 30, for a 19 year old who came from nowere to win Eurovision to get top 10's in so many countries around Europe is extremely good, but to get a top 30 in the UK charts, I think is a very good achievement, to say Eurovision isn't taken seriously in this country is abit out of context, loads of people in this country take it seriously in my opinion, and I think people also hate it in the UK because our entry comes from tax payers money, which I think is unfair. It's a shame that most of the people in the UK do listen to American artists than European, but as I have found out, if you give the European singers a fair listen, there actually better than American artists in my opinion. I think Eurovision is a very important contest as it brings the European countries together for a celebration of music and musical cultures of other countries.

First off, Eurovision is not paid through taxes but through the television license (totally different).
Secondly, we don't pump money into the Eurovision song contest, we put it into the EBU which is actually a good deal because lots of things come from them. Generic stock news reports, images from different nations news, sports rights etc etc. As it goes, Eurovision is a very cheap night for the BBC. Entertainment wise it's a good deal actually. And the amount of people watching it is always high.
The BBC don't care about if people find it as a joke, if people watch it thats good enough for them.

My top 10:
1. Estonia- Getter Jaani
2. Germany- Lena
3. Ukraine- Mika Newton
4. Hungary- Kati Wolf
5. Sweden- Eric Saarde
6. Ireland- Jedward (hope not)
7. Georgia- Eldrine
8. France- Amaury Vassili
9. Azerbaijan- Ell and Nikki
10. United Kindgom- Blue
As much as I would love Lena to win, it's a huge task to win two years on the run, and she is struggling with the song abit too.

Google has updated its prediction for the last time:
1 | | Germany | Lena | 214 | 2 | | Ireland | Jedward | 158 | 3 | | Russia | Alexej Vorobjov | 133 | 4 | | Sweden | Eric Saade | 111 | 5 | | France | Amaury Vassili | 99 | 6 | | Greece | Loucas Yiorkas feat.... | 94 | 7 | | Azerbaijan | Ell/Nikki | 90 | 8 | | Finland | Paradise Oskar | 78 | 9 | | Denmark | A Friend In London | 73 | 10 | | Romania | Hotel FM | 67 |
I'm guessing that Lena is being searched for a lot, because people find it interesting that last year's winner is participating again this year and want to hear the new song. I certainly doubt that she will win - the song is just not strong enough.
Other than the Ireland bet I made before the two semi finals, I decided to go for Russia in top-4. It's a pretty good song, they have plenty of "friends", and Google's prediction never fails
Edit: I also expect UK in the top-10, but obviously, since UK isn't in the semis, not a lot of people have actually heard the song yet.
Either way, it's going to be very interesting. As someone else said, there's no top candidate this year. Almost everyone have a chance of winning.

I think Germany won't win. But Lena's song is a grower for sure. But Eurovision relies on songs not being growers.
My favourites are changing constantly, Romania is now creeping into my favourites.
