Pheonominal amount of pictures in that report mb!
Quite a stage, the decisive attack didn't come but I suppose Valverde was the aggressor of the day. But it wasn't a steep climb so perhaps not best to judge as yet.
Contador would appear uninjured but more like Cunego on the first mountain top in the Giro. Perhaps a top 10 is not out of reach... |

Not as bad as I would've expected... Madrazo in 11th is good, and Contador didn't lose too much...

Not the best day for Plaza. He didn't lose a lot of time but he should have been there with the best.

And with any GC dreams gone, I'm now waiting for the stage wins |

Gutted for Medvedev, really rode well there and so close to a win - but Intxausti delivered and did the required job to take back the race lead - showing that he can be more than just a 'pretender' as if his 2nd overall last year wasnt proof enough.
Its a key stage next, and Im expecting him to slip below Valverde and Trofimov in GC - a race leaders boost will help though.

Depends really on how hard they make the race.
If they wait until the final climb, he'll probably hold on to the lead. If it's a hilly stage with attacks on the flat on the run in, then he may lose it. |

That was a really fun stage. I really like the offensive riding by Sony, almost paid of. The end result, with Trofimov just losing less than a minute on a mountain stage and Marzano doing ok, is great.

I realise no bonus seconds were awarded, I added them in, but didn't feel like changing the whole results file. Also unfortunately by flatmate rejected any suggestion of me playing the Vuvuzela concurrently with this report. Sorry.

Theo Bos last and hanging on in there.
To say I'm a proud manager is a massive understatement

Hey, Lövkvist 11th in the GC and hanging in there (10th) on this stage. Not all that bad.
Seems like he's going for the mountain jersey, but I certainly doubt that that's going to be possible. |

Was it 20 for the win? Valverde close a bit, but I think dislodging the leader is going to be v. tough. Nice reports over the last few stages as well.
Oh, and Happy Birthday, SN. |

Contador saving energy. Atleast that is good. And him being in the group before Madrazo two stages in a row is also positive. He is now in top 30, and hopefully he will now be ready to take some serious chunks into another 17 riders, to hit the top 10. It's all about reducing the loss. If I can keep away from losing my season goals, then the next season isn't ruined aswell.

Thanks, and on current form, it seems like Valverde will chip into Intxausti's lead with the time bonuses - so if that continues, Id expect Valverde to take the lead, but then need to gain more before the last TT.
Would be very surprising if they finished together on all mountain stages though, theres gotta be proper gaps at some point.

So, Reus comes in 22nd, probably something silly like all of 1 "second" behind the 21st bloke, so loses 1 min 40. Great. Not that he's ever going to do well in a GT, but even so, I want him to do well. |

Karpets continues to prove my team's fate: to suck.
Btw, happy birthday, fellow freshman.

Had expected Trofimov to fight for the win today, but did not happen. Gonna be hard for him to limit his losses in the mountains now,

Some unusual tactics in that stage from some teams, but a nice boring stage as far as Im concerned in terms of the GC riders
