Shame on them for backing down
My thoughts exactly.

The comments section of Velonews sums it up perfectly.
Earlier in the year, Team RadioShack chose to not participate in the Giro d'Italia, organised by RCS Sport and was subsequently left off the invitation list for Tirreno-Adriatico and then, the Giro di Lombardia. If there is anyone out there that believes that RCS Sport "lost the letter of invitation", I have a bridge in New York I want to sell you. RSC Sport had every intention to keep RadioShack out of their race, until they faced having to pay compensation

Couldn't they just take over a Colombian team? |

YES! that is great news. Both for the colombians, and for the sport of cycling.

To be honest, I'd prefer if the Colombians, somehow, created their own ProConti team. I'm sure it'd be much more exciting to see rather than eventually having three or four Colombians in the Team Movistar. |

What`s the sense??? They want to have a Australian Pro Tour team but then cancel the biggest race there?
That`s just stupid. In Germany more and more races are cancelled and this is one of the reasons why German teams can`t find sponsors.

It's just a report, the South Australian budget is revealed tomorrow and reports say the government will scrap the TDU. - That doesn't mean it will happen - or in fact that the race itself will be scrapped.
It could just find new money, or move. Somewhere in Australia will want this event, even if Adelaide doesn't.

Really don't understand this decision.
I guess we can't be certain yet, but these leaked documents seem pretty convincing.
However I don't think they're cutting the race altogether are they? Reading the documents it seems to me as though they are significantly reducing funding, but but pulling the plug. I may be wrong though.
Although with significantly less funding it's hard to see the race surviving.
I just don't understand why they'd decide to do this though. The TDU has been extremely successful and generates a lot of money for the Economy. |

Franco Pellizotti (Liquigas-Doimo) has spoken of his frustration at the delay in his hearing before the Italian Olympic Committee’s (CONI) anti-doping tribunal.
The most common tactic by a guilty party in any trial: Request a delay, then publicly complain about said delay.

Linked to Operacion Puerto. He tested positive last month for a masking drug to lower your hematocrit.

Heh. Such a surprise there. "Oh they can come back to Europe, no point in keeping them exiled forever". Take your two year exile at home, sir. |
