Petacchi got his tactics spot on. By the time either Cavendish or Hushovd noticed him, it was far too late to respond to either Petacchi, or those in Petacchi's slipstream.
Hushovd only manages 9th - great for the Green jersey competiton if Petacchi lasts til Paris. Cavendish gave up, and why not. He knew he wasnt going to win, therefore he knew his green jersey hopes were gone. Minor placings mean nothing to him.
Well done to Petacchi though. Last year nobody dared jump before Cavendish, here he highlighted that it is the tactic that works.

I didn't see any of the other sprinters in the first group of yesterday's stage. You just got to work with what you have.
P.S. You still haven't told me what's loose. |

Exactly, sprint stages are interesting again now, rather than just Columbia on the front for the last 10km
Also Hunter came 5th, yay.

That 'loser' has won every year in the Tour since 2006. He just isn't a topsprinter. He needs a more difficult parcours.
Petacchi is a beautiful sprinter btw. No wild movements. |

with who I am arguing here about Hushovd?
With Shooting star and Thor Hushovd. Someone from us is not objective... |

Why wouldnt he?
I dont see him leaving the race - he will be increasingly determined to win a stage. Petacchi is unlikely to outjump him on every sprint stage

I don't know the history . I just read an idiotic reaction and wanted to react.

I went to see the riders pass about 12km from home (with my bike), I've taken some pics I'll post later, anyway I'm glad that except Txurruka, nobody went down... the road where I was was melting away, I was able to see my footsteps on it...
For a "resting" stage, it was really hot believe me, I think we can expect some gastric problems for some riders.

Someone was watching the it4 coverage.
He is going to Paris, if only to win 1 stage, not winning a stage would be failure.
Watch out Australia

I'll shut up about Hagen now
The preceding post is ISSO 9001 certified

Why do we need to discuss the potential winner? It's only interesting who gets the stagewins and 2nd place after Hagen in the GC |

Haha I was watching eurosport and flicked to ITV during the break and they thought pilusckin (can't spell) was kolobnev. What a bunch of tools so then I sat and watched the adverts after that. I hate ITV commentators |

I completely disagree, I like sprinters who look like their is no possible way they can actually be going in a straight line, i.e. Abdu.
Nothing better than watching someone sprint with motions that make them look like they should be in a So Solid Crew video. |
