That's exactly why Riis' team needs to die a horrible death.
It's a house of doping and it needs to go.
We don't have any serious elements against him and his team, despite things being blatant and rumours flying around regularly, so they're quite clever, a bit like Bruyneel's teams. Only police raids or people testifying could get them down it seems...
What was Damsgaard (sp ?) doing in that madhouse though ? Was he there to check their values wouldn't get them caught ? Or he was sincere, but used to see if they could fool an expert ?
Did he leave because he was so horrified by the doping going around there, and could do nothing against it ? |

Not really. It means Riis will stay. It gives a good chance Worre will stay. And those two are doing more harm than good to danish cycling these days.
I disagree. To the mainstream Danish cyling fan, Riis and to some extent Worre has done nothing wrong. Many don't even know who Jesper Worre is.
About Riis' house of doping. Shouldn't Brian Holm, Rolf Aldag and Patrick Lefevre, to name a few, be mentioned as people harming the sport as well?

In any case I am happy about the news. Means more exposure and subsequently more talent in Danish cycling.

Only a fool believes that doping is only a part of a few cycling teams.
I dont see Riis' team being much worse than any of the other teams around.
In any case its great news for the danish cycling fans, or at least for me it is |

In any case its great news for the danish cycling fans, or at least for me it is There are the teams who organise it for their riders (all of them or only their main 10 or so riders), which are the worst.
Then there are those who only tip their leader and close their eyes on what their riders do, and even encourage them to do it.
There are those who blame them for doing it, and will drop them as soon as they're caught.
And there are those fighting it, and who'll fire their riders (either by not renewing them, either by breaking the contract).
Of course it's not that binary, but that's more or less it from the worst to the best. Riis' team belongs to the first category, like RetirementShack (and a few others). They're the worst. |

Of course this is not the thread for this debate, but is the above based on a Jörg Jacksche testimony about what went on in 2004?

And an average rider with no results either as a youth or as a pro flying to Madrid with Riis in 2005, beginning to pay Fuentes vast amounts of money for "training programs" and suddenly becoming an elite athlete who wins a big race and places 3rd in a huge race. All within a space of weeks.
Not suspicious at all.

Damsgaard's two associates broke contract with him because they flat out said they couldn't trust him. One of the several reasons they mentioned was that he was getting gifts from the teams he was controlling.

Especially Lefévère is the biggest cancer in cycling
The preceding post is ISSO 9001 certified

Well, i disagree. Worre and DCU do some weird stuff sometimes, but overall they do a lot good things for danish cycling. Actually i think he is getting better and better, although i am still not a fan of him.
So still its really good that Bjarne can continue with his team. At least in my opinion. |

I wouldn't say weird as much as destructive.

According to a French tv station (France 2), the new head sponsor for Riis Cycling (along with Sungard) is ... Siemens.

That's a big company! Seems more realistic than Telenor. |

If this is true, I can`t understand why they don`t sponsor Milram next year. Poor German cycling ;( |

Siemens is already a very, very minor sponsor for the team (domestic appliances for the team's kitchen) - anyway, we'll see. I don't quite see it happening. |

Doesn't mean much, but subpoenas for Grand Jury testimony have been issued in connection w/ the Landis accusations.
Just for those of you who do not know the American Justice system, a Grand Jury is a jury (like a trial jury, but much larger, around 20-30 people) which decides whether a person (or persons) can be indicted, and brought to trial. That said, don't expect anything out of this, at least not soon.

Is it serious? SIEMENS? I don't think that a global company needs a cycling team. Cycling has very bad reputation and Seiemens can't win with this sponsoring. I don't even think they need danish market. It would be logical to sponsor a german or a dutch team, not a danish. |

Caisse d'Epargne - French Sponsor, Spanish Team.
It's about success not nationality. |
